Is all that gear necessary to longboard? its about feeling the wind through your hair, the force around turns, and the freedom and speed. you dont need fancy cyclist helmets, which look stupid, you just need the ill for fun and a board.

@16BitTerror All that gear is not necessary to longboard. To longboard, all you need is your board and you set to go have fun. What you SHOULD have is a decent helmet, not necessarly a full face as shown, a half shell will work fine for most purposes. Slide gloves are a must for racing, freeride, etc, but for crusing like you described, not needed. Sure the helmets look "stupid" but when you crash at 40mph, are you glad you look cool as fuck, or are you wishing you had that helmet? Choose wisely

@toastytoast3919 a longboard is a type of skateboard, anything that has a deck, 2 trucks, and 4 urethane wheels is a skateboard, "longboard" is just short for "long skateboard", using the word "longboard" is just specifying that the skateboard you're refering to is long, that's it. It's not something different altogether, skateboards come in all shapes and sizes, not just the popular shape and size.

@g0t91 motorcycle helmets work, otherwise if you're looking for the more "aerodynamic" looking ones try checking out paragliding helmets. Hope that helps.

@g0t91 Try go asking your local sports dealer for downhill/mountain bike helmets lot lighter than motorcycle helmets and that's what most of those riders are using. If you want it cheap but still relatively safe, check out Bell's Drop and Bellistic. Although Drop is cheaper than Bellistic, it is claimed to be better from those two.

Any kind of tough leather gloves with slide pucks on them.

Slide pucks are generally made of delrin, UHMW (like teflon, but very resistant to wear), corian samples from Home Depot, or cutting boards.

Just google "slide gloves" and you'll get plenty of results.

That makes no sense. The Evo corners like a Mac Truck and the W concave of the Drop Speed makes it easy to toeside drift and corner. I'd bet my house you don't have an Carbon Evo.

u shouldn't be doing high speeds if you don't know basic stuff like that. start slow. best way to learn how to corner is in multi-storey garages.

study how they do it in the videos and put it to practice.
