  • Where in the bible is there irrefutable evidence of true prophecy? If you dont know then maybe you should explain to me why you are commenting on the bibles validity. If you really want to discount the bible. I challenge you to study it with us for free. Then you will see! Oh and for a ressurection scripture read 1 Cor 15 all of it.

  • The immaculate conception is the virgin birth.

The word "trinity" is not in the Bible, but Jesus does say that He and the father are one.

"Let he that is without sin cast the first stone" is from one of my favorite stories about the people bringing a woman to Jesus who had been caught in the act of adultery.

    Original sin is in Genesis.

    YES, He did.

  • John 8:7. Well, I just looked and it is not found at all in the Codex Sinaiticus (the oldest manuscript of John, extant), nor is it found in the Codex Vanicanus. It first appears in the sixth-century Codex Bezae and later Greek manuscripts. Would seem that some one tried to add forged verses into the Bible. Modern translations note this fact.

  • Oh, 1 John 5:7-8. Another case where scripture was added. This actually occured 17 times.

  • original sin simply put is , disobedience to GOD . if God gives you a protocol of instructions (adam) and you stray from that protocol you sinned..

  • Greetings SilentWisp. I can't answer all the questions that you asked in this short comment-box, but regarding the closing verses of the Gospel of Mark, I welcome you to watch the two video-lectures I have provided about it here at YouTube -- "Mark 16:9-20 - Some Patristic Evidence" and "Mark 16:9-20 & the Abrupt Ending." Each one takes less than an hour. (And, you do realize that Jesus' resurrection is related in Matthew, Luke, and John, too, right?)

  • I'm an atheist but I just had a thought. If some christians believe that god himself wrote the bible who the hell thinks so much of themselves that they can edit it?

  • The bible is not supposed to make sense to non-believers. It was written for believers. Even if I explained it, you wouldn't understand.

There is much evidence that people are sinful and need a savior. Also, if you shun God, he will shun you. If you seek God he will find you.

  • 1. You are correct

    2. Original sin - The whole passage if Rom 5:12-21 is on this.

    3.Trinity - too many to list - Mat 5:16-17, 28:19

    4. "cast the first stone" - I don't know

    5. Resurrection - It is in the other gospels and in almost every other new testament book.

Are you willing to forfeit salvation because of minor differences?

  • Some doctrines are more implicit then explicit. Lucky, Original Sin is not one of them. Please read Romans 5:12-21. Does this text sound like Original Sin to you?

  • good work. be careful.

  • I'm sure you already know this, but most of the Biblical support for the doctrine of original sin is Romans 5:12. I've seen this interpreted as anything from a kind of genetic guilt, spread through propagation, for which people are individually responsible at birth, to a general inclination toward evil, which wouldn't have happened without the result of Adam's sin. (Notice that it's Adam's sin, not Eve's.)

  • @violentlygraceful SIn is the Sumerian/Akkadian moon god (Suen/Nanna) who was also known as the Lord of wisdom. Wisdom=knowledge=Sin

  • What if the words that were added later were part of the original manuscript? There were so many different parts of the bible that were taken away and put in over hundreds of years. The authorities kept changing things around. But originally what if the words of Jesus were in there and someone left them out. We don't know .

"The Trinity" is not mentioned but God uses the words "our" or "we" to refer to himself, the son and holy ghost.

  • @ButterfliesChange This isn't really convincing, since all we do know is that those words were added in at a later time than the oldest manuscripts we're aware of.

  • @silentwisp7 probably not.Early semite religions were pantheonic. El described many Semite Gods, which was influenced by Caanites, Babylonina and Assyrian used the brefix Baal. Also El Elyon had a consort named Ashera (not to be confused with Ishtar), so the us and we and our really means us we and our.The female counter part of course was dropped and probably replaced with the holy spirit.

  • @ButterfliesChange Actually El Elyon was originally part of the Caanite pantheon. Creation story has some parts that are in common with Sumerian creation, which were pantheon, thus Semite religions were pantheon before Moses (influenced by Egyption Ateism) made Judaism 1 god. The three in one actually appears to be influenced by other 3 in one religions like the Zoasts that appeared in Iran between Moses and Christ.

  • Hello

The original sin is in Gen. The original sin is when Eve ate from the tree of life in the garden of Eden after being tempted by the serpent. she then offered it to Adam.

  • @ButterfliesChange But the concept of "original sin" is that the sin of eating the apple made all of humanity after that somehow sinful. That's not mentioned anywhere in the Bible...the concept of passing sin down.

  • They are the ramblings of ancient dolts. That is all.

  • Yes, but they lead to the ramblings of contemporary dolts, and I can't have that.

  • That they do....but i find those dolts wont listen to anyone who isnt also a dolt. And you are far from that.

  • We can talk about the specific absurdities of the bible for quite some time. The immaculate conception, magic. The resurrection, unbelievable. The Trinity, nonsensical. The bible in it's entirety is asinine and inconsequential to those who have the ability to think beyond their immediate situation. Education and the lack there-of seem to be the common denominator.

  • If I can give anyone information that will make them cast aside their baseless and sometimes harmful beliefs, I'll do it :D

  • What is really annoying me today is the flack that Thunderf00t is taking on his reading of biblical versus and asking Christians if they indeed believe this (usually some very crazy shit). Many are telling T-f00t that he has no business doing this because many Christians do not believe that, that they see those scriptures and many others as metaphors. What a bunch of shit on so many levels. Then what *do* they believe? How do they split the metaphor from the real deal? Why should we care?

  • I completely agree with you.

If things like God being a total asshole = metaphor, and talking snake = metaphor, then resurrection probably = metaphor as well, doesn't it?

Hating your family and life as Jesus tells you to do = metaphor, but loving and fearing God isn't a metaphor?

Cutting out your own eyes or hand as Jesus would tell you to do = metaphor, but not allowing gays to marry = trufax?

Why aren't Christians observing the sabbath? Shouldn't they be stoned to death for not observing it?

  • Sabbath = metaphor? Really... who would know? Why shouldn't we direct any certain argument at those who *do* believe these things literally?

What, just because there are others who have done "deep, theological studies" and come to a different conclusion? Fine, we'll straighten them out later! Let's start by getting the sickest (literalists) under control first.

  • It's pretty sad that the most effective arguments for the people with the narrowest mindsets are the narrowest arguments. Which I think my videos are, they're very narrow. I get the same response from various people that is basically, "Why not attack a broader sense of religion/Christianity/whatever?!" and the answer is that many people who accept this huge concept of "Christianity" are not going to accept the smaller details that I point out to them in my videos. Or at least, that's my hope.

  • Hell, makes sense. Stories made by men and largely compiled by one man and others (paul) into a book. Why not update it once in a while. lol, it's funny that people believe it. I once wrote a whole thing on interpreting the bible as kind of a porn chronicle. It seemed to be a pretty good interpretation for me... Jesus is risen, indeed!

  • Yeah there are plenty of really disgusting graphic bits in the Bible.

I can't believe people would try to ban the dictionary from a school (as they did recently) because kids can find the definition of "oral sex" but they obviously wouldn't ban the Bible, which has rape and murder and human sacrifice and all kinds of disgusting things in it. Hahaha. Oh, religion.

  • Wait... why are you backwards? The shirt here and the Bible in another one were backwards. Are you doing like a vampire in the mirror thing?? :-)

    (BTW good video, interesting questions.)

  • Hahah I have no idea why my videos are backwards...I'm recording on my mac in iPhoto, and I'm kind of technologically challenged. If I can figure out how to turn them around I will :D

    And thanks!

  • I hope you don't mind a little devil's advocate. Hehe. I think that since more and more people are accepting the Adam and Eve story as a metaphor, that they are more so leaning toward needing Jesus not for original sin, but for redeeming the sins of man period. In other words, we are all conceived in sin, because sex itself is sinful to many Christians. So conceiving a child at all means the child was conceived in sin. It's absurd, but many people believe that.

  • And even if they don't necessarily believe sex is a sin, the child will still perform sinful actions, so Jesus is therefore needed to redeem them of that.

  • I agree with you - but when Christians argue that some parts of the Bible are metaphor and others are not, I have a hard time understanding why their interpretation of the Bible is more valid than anyone else's interpretation of it...especially since as I mentioned in this video, there are other ancient texts making references to Jesus that never made it into the Bible.

Also the idea of an ancient savior needing to forgive me is reprehensible...I'd rather be responsible to the people I hurt.

  • I am in complete agreement. Just making a point, that original sin isn't necessary for redemption. Though I think it's obviously complete and utter nonsense in general.

  • People can believe these things because they don't read the bible. Most christians have read selected passages that re-enforce their beliefs, but few have read it cover-to-cover.

  • Absolutely! This is the main reason why I have been making these videos, and I'm sure it's also Thunderfoot's motivation for making his new Bible for Beginners series, since he mentions at the beginning of each video that "Christians" tend not to read the Bible.

I have a hard time letting people continue to believe things that actually cause harm to people. If I didn't think this kind of blind "faith" that's promoted by Christianity caused real harm to people, I would let it go.

    Alas, I can't.

  • Wasn't Eve's sin the original sin? Eating the fruit?

  • The concept of original sin refers to more than that, it refers to this sin being passed down from generation to generation throughout the rest of humanity,

which is why every generation supposedly needs to be "saved" by accepting Jesus Christ in order to be "forgiven" and why Christians will sometimes argue that nobody is "born without sin"

It's a disgusting concept, and it has no biblical basis. It's been slowly added to throughout history.

  • I'm going to have to read that bit for myself.

I certainly agree with you that it's a disgusting concept!

Do you have any bible references that Christian apologists use to explain it?

  • Hm, the best I could come up with was Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    and

Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

This was the best I could find and neither give a very convincing argument for original sin. Very good video. I like it when I'm given something to think about and look into for myself.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks! It's too bad more people don't look into thinks for themselves :/

  • I would just be afraid that they would get caught on things and do some damage o_O

btw why is all the writing backwards in your video?

  • No idea, I just take videos and then upload them - I don't switch them to make the writing go the right way. Maybe I can figure out how to do that?

  • Eek! More giant earrings! Anyways, another good video. Keep them coming :)

  • Hahah thanks! I love giant earrings, there's no point in having a shaved head if I'm going to have demure earrings, gosh. :D

  • Hey hey, let's not discourage the earrings okay.

  • Hahah thanks! I'm glad SOMEONE appreciates the earrings!
