I've heard nothing but good things about PLN around the paddock. Paul had come up to a few guys I know in SCCA and congratulated them on good qualifying. I think what PLN found in racing was an escape from the false trappings of what can be Hollywood.
The appeal of motorsports for me is it's demand for excellence, consistency, discipline and determination. And making the most of what you have, both in your skills, or lack thereof in my case, and from your equipment.
Paul Newman = VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Haha I wanna go fast like him in this video! Someone find me a Supercharger...and a new exhaust...and a new transmission....and new tires...and a roll cage, then we can go faaaaast! RIP PLN
Imagine what Paul Newman's grandkids could say to bullying idiots when he was still alive. "Who's our GRAND Daddy, yeah?" (Points to the 79-year old man with the piercing blue eyes, roaring across the race track.)
Paul Newman was a very good race driver, and has many documented successes at the highest level of sports car racing, more success than Steve McQueen ever DREAMT of. Had Newman started in his teens or twenties instead of in his late 40s, he would have been a very good full time professional driver at almost any level.
Bennet go play in a busy intersection. Paul Newman never had to copy Steve McQueen, he is his own man. In any case if he copied Steve McQueen, he would have been dead long ago
Most astonishing is his car #'s were his age...he is 79 driving that Vette, and it was really HOT that day at Lime Rock, beyond belief

This is cool. I watched Paul Newman race, in person, about 3 years ago when I was at my karting event at Lime Rock. Great looking track!

Paul Newman really liked racing. He always said that he never found grace in any other sport but this one.

What year was this and I'm assuming it's Trans Am?
PeterMayer 3 years ago
The year must be 2004 since the number of the car corresponded to PN's age (it changed every year).
