Free Video Screen-capture software

Hi there RedForemanTM...not sure if you are still checking your comments or not but I was wondering if I downloaded this freeware if it come with an unistaller in case you decided you dont want it? Cause I know some dont and I dont like that! I have limited space on my comp and every little Mb counts lol! I would sure like to try this out :)

X-fire now does an amazing vid capture up to 100 FPS as for video editing windows movie maker on Vista is acctually quite good

AviScreen Classic is for video and image capture. Its not a video editor. And it IS Free. Just wanted to clear that up in case anyone is confused.

I found a great free prog called Debut it can capture full video played on media player or power dvd can be assigned hot keys can be resized has lots of different output formats and also captures sound well in sync

camstudio is terrible, the video codec always mess up.

hypercam is good but it always lagg when you're recording game session.

what are your favorite choice for video capture?

zelgadiss - I agree, camstudio is 'orally decompressive' (sucks). I like AviScreen - but its not very good at recording games. I don't record games often but Fraps will record audio as well as video from games And show your 'frames per second' (fps) - but the free version will only record 30 seconds at a time ($37US for the full version).

Try ReplayScreencast, that's what I did all of my videos in and it works excellently.

effectsmaster1 - nope, I used a free audio editor. I haven't heard of MS sam - but since it's MS - I'll guess it goes for about $100? (I did a demo of Audacity (the editor) and show the addy where you can download it, if your interested)

I just checked the Fraps website (I had read from 'download <dot>com' before). If you can tolerate Fraps's name at the top of your video and having a maximum of 30 seconds for the video - you can use an unregistered copy of Frap (with the record audio on or off option). <dot>fraps <dot>com <slash>download <dot>php

I haven't seen any other free ones - hope this helps.

You're welcome. But maybe I should clarify that AviScreen isn't designed to capture video from a game (it can do it but its cumbersome and won't have audio). I think many gamers use Fraps to get audio/video capture from games - if you care to spend $37 US.
