  • she loos so much darker here hmmm.. i love oprah tho

  • What's sad is that this was in 1989 over 20 years ago and its the same way today I'm a chef, I'm black I live in NYC and it's so true when I go out to eat at fine dining restaurants I'm the only black person. My black people lets enjoy going out to eat.

  • This is why i love Oprah she has always been straight forward with her responses.

  • I like Oprah. I bet her anus smells like parmesan cheese.

  • tension tension tension tension tension

  • btway why was dave acting like that when she talked about the few black peope in the restaurants?

  • "i go the same places everyone goes, i have my own restaurant ...." lol ;D i like her so much

  • letterman is incapable of treating any one with respect, and his audience reflects that.

  • Why did the person say RIP her ..... ???

  • i will co sign that! How far has this country progressed with race relations. Presently, the political climate is about the debt, and only when a Black man is now at the helm does the bank decide the debt is too much to bear. God Bless America, and bless us all when the bottom finally drop out. " Rip her Dave." The power structure has been ripping blk women since the beginning and we are still here! Look at the grace and decorum Oprah maintains while under such an egregrious assault.

  • Thank you so much for lunch.

    Gold!

  • wow In also 1989 she was so popular !!!!!

  • Oprah looks very pretty here....

Even though David and the audience was rude, I like how she lets it roll off her back and she continues to keep her poise or dignity.. Almost seems like she wasn't really phased by the backlash she received.

  • soooooo beautiful so so beautiful, very in command of herself i love that about her

  • wow that crowd was a bit nasty...kind of strange and scary in a way

  • "Rip her, Dave?!" Fuckin' assholes!

  • @gameshowluvr86 Why are they being rude to Oprah? Wow, she sure does keep her dignity and poise, no matter what she's surrounded by.

  • @fuck192ass And you're a punk ass bitch who's scared to show his face

  • why does he whisper into Oprah's ear and tell her that?

  • Try talking to her like that now asshole..!! ha!

  • for the person who said oprah is a stupid nigger should go shit, flip and fuck themselves

  • @fuck192ass- nobody asked for your opinion asshole

  • DON'T YOU LOVE HOW SHE THANKED THE HATER IN THE AUDIENCE? SHE WAS THANKING HATERS BEFORE THE PHRASE BECAME POPULAR!

  • oprah>>>>>>>>>letterman

  • "Rip her Dave! Thank U!!!!" Love Oprah

  • david letterman is incredibly rude!!!!

  • ..even back in 1988 Oprah was pushing her pro black agenda..lame..

  • ..even back in 1988,, oprah still was pushig her pro black agenda.. no black people in resturants?..suree oprah

  • Funny at 9:30

David : "When is the last time I saw you?

Audience member answering for Oprah: "Last night"

    LOL

  • give her credit for quitting crack though

  • thin because she was smoking cocaine...

  • wow the audience was so rude

  • Haaha! Calling out her hyperbolic self-marketing tactics. Letterman, you baller.

  • mg she was very jumpy when she was young

  • ahh... lets talk about something else. lol

  • He made sure he treated her with respect the when she came back 16 years later.

  • O Wow!

  • why does he say. dont get hurt. to her. says it in her ear. just before they start to chat

  • He was pretty nice to her overall and being a comic he would naturally crack wise about Satanic dismemberment; the audience was rude but I don't see anything here that would make her really mad at Dave.

  • wow thats Oprah...she looks like she wants to hit him

  • wow thats Oprah...

  • i never seen her this thin

  • His audience makes him look way more of an ass than hes trying to be. Yeah he was a bit cocky and he may have had a little to drink or whatever, but things like that on talk shows happen all the time.

  • Letterman was drunk. He no longer drinks.

  • LOVE THE MJ JACKET...

  • hahaha, this crowd can go fuck them selves...Oprah is Oprah and those people perhaps still on their dead end jobs...lol...GO OPRAH...2.5 Billion BUCKS...

  • dave is a major ass here ! i dont like the way he handle miss oprah winfrey here

  • I was there at the Chicago Theater for this show. During the break after Oprah, he bantered with the audience about the next day's show (he was at the Chicago all that week) and announced that Penn & Teller would be on. We booed as if to say, "why didn't you have them on TODAY?" To which David replied, "you want me to bring Oprah back?" To which we all laughed, of course. I'd always thought that was the cause of the rift.

  • He's an asshole

  • I didn't see any reason why she would be upset with how that went and then boycott his show for nearly 20 years.

  • Oprah was cute here...

  • man she was gettin some mad coin, 40mill+ in 89? DAMN!

  • "last night".....hehe:)

  • Oprah knew what was going on, she held her own with him-love it!

  • She really is pretty (and thin). Her jacket is very Michael. Her hair is fabulous. It has been since '88.

He never really lets her finish her thought does he?

  • @BeatLifeLiver What thought? lulz

  • man she's good !!!!

  • that fat chocolate lady!!!

  • God bless her.

  • That bitch that yelled out from the audience is an idiot. No matter who's sitting there - you don't yell out shit like that. Hope someone ripped her in these 21 years..

  • Sted man.... haha!

  • oprah copied michael jacksons style of fashion!!!

  • @drunkenpinoydwarf53 she forgot the 4 year old boy

  • wow, Oprah handled herself very well during this interview. She is strong. No wonder she got to where she was.

  • Did he whisper "Try not to get hurt" ? What the hell ?!

  • Last Night!

  • #LOL

  • #ROCK

  • THIS WAS REALLY CUTE...I LOVE WHAT SHE HAS ON TOO!!!!!!!!!

  • oprah da anniekreis.

  • Funny, David whispered, "Try not to get hurt", in her ear when she came out. What an idiot audience. She was only worth $250 million back then (when she was sitting on that pile of money on TV Guide (and the caption read "Oprah Winfrey: Her $250million Empire")....now close to $3billion! And take a look at the video from last time she was on Dave to promote "The Color Purple", the audience was applauded and bowing and kissing her feet :-) You go Oprah!! You sure showed them!!

  • @Tritano ACTUALLY HE WHISPERED "THANK U SO MUCH FOR LUNCH"

  • Comment removed

  • back before oprah sold out. and dave didnt like this because the woman oprah had on was jewish, and was talking about al the jewish families across the country involved in satanic shit.

  • What a strange audience? Booing for no good reason, yelling out for no good reason.

  • david want to fuck.

  • World Wrestling Federation? Vince McMahon?

  • screw voldemort? wtf

  • @Yyourself YOU HEARD RIGHT. SCREW VOLDEMORT!!!!

  • why he asking about boyfriend that stupid question for respectful peoples.it's not funny.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, phleeeeease, two egomaniacs trying to be entertaining >_<

  • Audience is really rowdy & pretty disrespectful to her, my gosh. So ridiculous.

  • 3:35 Further proof Oprah is a racist......further evidenced by her support for a president based solely on the color of his skin.

  • Comment removed

  • he was fucking drunk haha

  • anyone know at what time the audience gets crazy or whatever i came from aim lol and i wanna see what started this feud lol nevermind i heard it fail

  • anyone know at what time the audience gets crazy or whatever i came from aim lol and i wanna see what started this feud lol

  • @BeatriceYatch you need help...

  • oprah looks beautiful

  • Letterman gets schooled by Oprah on the term "diversity". "It means black people are in there". Can we please turn the clock back about 25 years?

  • Oprah is such an annoying controlling bitch. Lighten up blubber butt.

  • @evilclown99 lol true, true.

  • I agree expert handling!!!! And that was a Bob Mackie blazer that Oprah was wearing!!!!!

  • I honestly believe that it's the satanic discussion episode that is the cause of Dave's belief that Oprah didn't like him for so many years--NOT the restaurant episode. This is one of the few places you can see this. Watch it carefully. They both think the restaurant episode was funny. It's the satanic discussion that mortified him and annoyed Oprah. He doesn't want to bring it up since it's embarrassing to him.

  • he worked her! that's his job, folks. i don't get how he was disrespectful here. at all. his whole job is to entertain. he did that so well.

as for the audience: letterman 'when was the last time i saw you?' audience member: 'last night!!!' c'mon. hysterical. it was a bit over the top when someone yelled 'rip her, dave.' but seriously, that was one person. this interview was great fun, and they both did some expert handling!

  • @teaksmama Johnny Carson didn't go out of his way to "work people".

Johnny got out of the way out of his guests so they could shine. I've never

quite understood Letterman's appeal....he's too often childish and boorish.

This is like watching a food fight in a high school cafeteria.

  • @BRUC2016 that, i agree with. i never really got his attitude, very well. i liked carson and leno..they seemingly had more charisma, relative to letterman's more or less narcissistic attitude towards his guests. but, i never really liked Oprah either, so fuck em both lmao.

  • @BeatriceYatch Just wondering how someone in Austria is familiar with American TV. Are you an American transplant? Keep in mind that the Obama Administration wants to destroy all rights to private communication (the 4th amendment safeguard against search and seizure) so that he and his comrades in the federal regime can monitor all our posts. America elected a gangsta with Stalinist tendencies....now we vigilant Americans have to keep this Kenyan Communist under constant scrutiny.

  • @BeatriceYatch Who stuck a broomstick up your ass? Your profile says you're from Austria. And can't you tell that I'm agreeing with you and on your side? Drop the attitude and pay attention to what I'm saying.

  • @BRUC2016 i'll never fucking drop ANY supposed attitude fucker..i'm 100% dead serious about WHITE POWER..exposed. WHITE POWER!!

  • @BeatriceYatch I don't know what's wrong with you, but I'd suggest immediate

    medical attention.

  • @BRUC2016 i suggest you sucking my white pussy nigger/jewboy. WHITE POWER!

  • @BeatriceYatch Yeah, stupid beyond belief spoiled rich boy Bush was waaaaaay better. Thank him for the near-depression we live in by the way, 'cause it was all Mr. Lets-Cut-Taxes-During-Two-Wars' fault.

  • @BRUC2016 i'm not sure how this comparison to carson is even relevant. johnny carson was brilliant. letterman is a completely different kind of entertainer. no comparison makes sense. if you don't like him, why are you watching?

  • I bet Dave feels like an idiot now for acting like a cocky dumbass

  • wow....a MARKED different style in every respect to their most recent interview omg!

  • she's a BOSS!!! Go OPRAH!

  • Wow.. Talk about hatters.. God damn unemployed jelous niggers.. :P

  • @Rex2400 hatters? as in Mad Hatters??

  • @Rex2400 jealous*, not jelous. but i agree.

  • in the beginning her whispered to her..try not to get hurt...but she withstood the bullshit

  • david is such a fking prick.

  • I always heard about this interview but I didn't think it was that bad? His comments about her early shows are things she has herself expressed grief over. And I think she looks great here. If she felt attacked perhaps she should review some of her own show's footage. She had already proven herself as a substantial force in the entertainment world, I think she was just nervous here.

  • watch the 2008 interview after this and see letterman grovel to the queen unlike the arrogance he displays here

  • @diddlyi1 queen ? or queer ?

  • "Rip her, Dave" WOW

  • Brutal interviewer. So awkward.

  • @tylorcurtis Letterman is the master of the interview what are you sayinggg

  • david letterman is a horrible interviewer, I dont know how he kept his job all these years.

  • Oprah is a part of the Rhythm Nation.

  • she was handsome back in the days

  • lol oprah pronounced diverse the correct way lettermans correction was false, oprah wins lettermans over confident intellect.

  • @okonomiyakiyummy wrong, he's jacking this beyotch.

  • Comment removed

  • Dave is a dick in this interview. "I'm sorry to have brought it up." Perhaps he doesn't know how to talk about anything profound, period? That's a tough character to endure.

  • Oh now I see why she did not come back in 16 years. Some of the crowd did support her. "We love you Oprah!" I think the show was hilarious and Oprah held her own.

  • @ 0:44 Oprah says "Look at this audience", I think in terms of its size and energy. Then Dave says "I don't know. Try not to get hurt". I think he was commenting on how rowdy and uncivilized they were behaving.

  • Ms. Winfrey handled it welllll.....luv u big sis....

  • she looks so pretty and so down to earth

  • Comment removed

  • Wow- Meet Feisty Candid Oprah. She's actually kinda down to earth and relaxed here. And she handed it to Dave a couple o' times. Awesome.

"Satanic dismemberment- is it sweeping the nation?" (zinger by Dave)

...And then a classic, en pointe answer from O.

When's the last time I saw you? (Dave, to Oprah)

"Last night" - audience member. FTW.

Love that Dave stuck her with a restaurant bill, too. (& she paid it) Comedians...

  • umh i would hit it

  • This audience was disgusting.

Wow. Bet they wouldn't do that to her today!

  • @PhilipWunelle I bet they wouldn't and she wouldn't have it today!

  • @PhilipWunelle

oh my god!!!!! i thought it WAS michael jackson!!!! she was so skinny!!!

  • @PhilipWunelle the audience of her show is disgusting now. Treating that fat whiny bitch like a god and crying when she gives them gifts like she cured the common cold.

  • It's funny how things have turned now everyone at late show wanted hold her hand and get an autograph

  • Lots of white trash in the audience.

I never did like David Letterman or his trashy audience/fans, still don't.

  • @blahblahblahman My, how the tables have turned. He was practically kissing her hand the second time she appeared on this show in 2005. Letterman is a proven phony and the tone and tenor of this interview seemed personal. He seems jealous. At the time of this typing I have only watched half of this video. But even that is enough to declare this interview horrendous!! Oprah has always been the nicer person and that's why she is who she is and Letterman gets in trouble. The tale of two people.

  • @blahblahblahman

I dont think the audiesnce was trashy or mean.. people today are just silenced by the heavy hand of media and political correctness.. they werent afraid back then to BOO about not seeing enough black peopl in restaurants .. as if thats some sort of crime, or some fault of whites that blacks werent dining out.. nowdays if you boo that remark, you might be fined or jailed practically.. its reverse racism

  • @playmayker88 Give it a rest, do you really believe that NO blacks were dining out? its more likely that they werent welcomed, by poor treatment. But Im sure you also dont believe that racism ever existed as well.

  • @sparks199 You say its "more likely" that they werent welcomed or mistreated. Youre assuming a lot here. Not every white person, or white establishment, is guilty of the sin of racism. Just as not all black people or establishments are innocent of it either. Youre perpetuating a stereotype. That in itself is racist. (ahh, but its reverse-racism, so its completely acceptable!)

  • @playmayker88 You are determined to make blacks people appear racist, when in this case, there's no evidence of it. You cant make up history to fit your views. Historically(currently as well), some white owned businesses have been less than welcoming to black patrons, fact. Its more of a stretch to think that NO black people were dining out in the 1980's.

  • @sparks199

Well there isnt any evidence of white racism being the reason so few blacks were dining out. Youre assuming that. YOure also pretending to know whats in people's hearts that you never even met and have no idea what theyre names are. Your just painting whites with a broad brush so that everyone gets a little racism on them somehow. You dont know! You werent there! lol Youre stereotyping.

  • I'm surprised at Oprah...she REALLY handled herself well. She seems so much more real and down to earth and EVEN THOUGH david letterman and his fuckin audience are a bunch of neanderthals, she kept her cool, cuz i woulda went the fuck off.

I'm no fan of hers really, especially nowadays, but this shows what kind of a class act she is. Plus, when you compare her paycheck against his, well, we all know what's up. She wipes the floor wit his PUNK ass.

  • @tangled55 what david wasnt even being a jackass, david just likes to tease that's his style and it is funny but the crows were rude.

  • As always she looks great.

  • why is she dressed like Michael Jackson?

  • oprah is an ugly stupid fat bitch that needs to get king konged

condescending know it all white cow

  • "last night" LOL

  • I was watching Celebrity Feuds and it said that Oprah got mad because he was calling her fat, but I never heard him call her fat. I dont get it

  • 2 best hosts in history of american television!

  • well the crowd was clearly rude and she was visibly uncomposed. No wonder she stayed away from the show for 18 yrs. Cant be serious with a light headed crowd.

  • Oprah rocking a MJ jacket :-)

  • right up there with Hulk and the Giant.

  • gosh she looks so weird.this was obviously way before she started putting a bucket load of makeup

  • I thought the crowd was very igorant and unkind to Oprah. Thankfully Oprah handled the crowd well due to she has class and is familiar with being in front of an audience. It just goes to show, when people of color achieves a certain status in life, people can be very unkind. Oprah, keep shining the light that comes from your life is blissful and hopefully people will see that in you and not judge you for cha color of your skin and your wealth. Love you from the air date of this video to present.

  • @resse55 Is it couse Im black !?

  • What an idiot crowd...

  • The audiance turned against her because she stated an ugly truth in a mostly white crowd. People get angery or pretend like its an over exageration, this happens with everything. Black people arn't in a mass delusion, there are people who follow you in stores, you don't get the job even if you have more exp. and education, you do get stopped by the police for no other reason then being black ( a lot). Its ugly but completly true, the interview went down hill from there, the jacket didn't help.

  • She looks like tina

  • she looks very Michael Jacksony

  • she look like man!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheDina91 No she doesn't! She's much too shapely 2 look like a man. This is a good-looking woman!!!

  • What a rude audience!

  • @davidmamo40 TOUGH shit. lol.

  • Wow, this audience is like something from the Middle Ages! Oprah wasn't as far in her career then, but for the most part she still seems to have the same eloquent voice...even if her show's topics weren't as respectable at the time. I can't imagine an audience doing this to her today.
