  • Cool!

  • @LainsCrawfy Thanks! :D

  • RUN Indy, RUN !!!

  • i think you got the shadowing partially wrong, the sun was behind camera i think and the shadowing was to the side, but anyways, nice job

  • Like this if you got here by typing in ball rolling down a gutter...

  • fake

  • Yea cuz that looked real...

  • haha fail photoshop so badly done

  • @tommyrharper57 Photoshop. Oh dear, I think we're going to have to generate a new word for this kind of stupidity

  • @eventfularse yeah i know haha its so obviously fake.

  • @tommyrharper57 you dont even know wtf photoshop is, get a brain.

  • @Jaeger2011 WAT THE FUCK IT EDITS PICTURES LIKE THE ONE IN THE VIDEO, YOU GET A BRAIN YOU FUCKWITT YOUR SO STUPID I HAVE AN QI OF 320 I DID THE TEST LAST WEEK SO GO FUCK YOURSELF

  • @tommyrharper57 haha IQ of 320 and u can spell "IQ" rofl, this is getting better and better :) as my last message: Get a brain :)) dumbass hahahahahah

  • @Jaeger2011 LOL its spelt QI dumfuck, embarrasing much, and anyway i got a phd and proved evolution is fake SO I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK, aha EMBARRASING FOR YOU

  • @tommyrharper57 lol amazing troll :)

  • @Jaeger2011 haha yeah you got me ;)

  • OMG ITS A MOON BAAAAAABAAAY

  • make it 'splode

  • raiders of the lost ark

  • oh my herp. is that real? durp.

  • this is a fake man! i guess ur thinking none of us has ever seen an action movie w/ a boulder!

  • @zbakay you need to read some top comments before u post dumb

  • Don't worry people it's just chuck norris playing soccer. :P

  • ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bentothemax01 no. 3dsmax. learn your softwares!

  • NICE :D

  • In Soviet Russia, ball rolls you!

  • For some reason, the Inidana Jones theme song came into my head. lol.

  • This is fake.

  • @BoxxyFan duh he said it was an anamation

  • In the Phillippines they do this affects

    just like this one

  • I knew this video was fake the second I saw the two kids walking down the street in the background.

I'm sure they were thinking: "Oh, a giant ball rolling down the street. I hate when that happens."

  • Can you imagine you just finished work and you get out and you see a giant ball rolling down the street, what would u do?

  • @burnit01 i would check in my pants if i dropped one of mine

  • green screen.

  • i like turtles

  • Aside from the texture, it really looked good. That's pretty cool.

  • fucking fake u morons

  • @iHoRiFyProductionz Are you retarded? YES it's fake, the guy made it with 3dsm, and he never claimed that it was real

  • Why's my left testicle rolling down your street?!

  • at first i'm like: "HOLY SHIT. LOL" then it came closer and i'm like: "That's Computerized, lol"

  • This video's totally fake. Definitely. And I'm the first one who noticed. And the video creator didn't admit it until I called him on it. Booyah.

    Cool animation btw. :)

  • @zander811 Ah! I totally thought it was real, you sure called out that phony creator! You're so smart! :D

  • fake

  • faggot photoshopped as fuck

  • Repost this when the texture map isn't so pixelated and the framerate ACUTALLY syncs up.

  • It's blended in a very convincing way, though the surface of the ball looks very flat. I agree with the guy who says it looks like a cantaloupe. :)

  • it would look better if the ball weren't so awkwardly high-quality in the low-quality recording of the street

  • Is this fake?

  • @ElliotovHull are you retarded

  • @fcdog555 Why it looks real to me why is everyone saying it's fake?

  • Comment removed

  • @ElliotovHull Are you serious? The creator MADE this, it isn't a real ball.

  • @666KyuubiKid666 How do you know. looks real to me.

  • @ElliotovHull in what situation would this be real lol. Why would there be a giant rock ball rolling down a street.

  • @CherryViz I don't know how people can be this stupid. The OP already said that this was an animation. I swear, every year people are getting dumber and dumber.

  • @sjg0546 people are not getting dumber, more dumb people are login in youtube... : P

  • A higher-resolution texture would've been really helpful. Even better, make the ball fully 3d - give it a high-res dusty/rocky texture and make its actual surface seem rocky.

  • Wow soooooooooooooo real!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT

  • Your description is awsome!

  • ah andrew kramer

  • that looked like a cantalope.

  • how did you get the ball to roll down the street how did you animate that side of it please

  • @williamssally I animated a ball rolling in a straight direction in 3dmax and then used voodoo tracker to align the ball with the scene.

  • Would have been wiked if you had it smash into the car or knock off the wing-mirror or something, great tracking though...

  • that was to klbut it looked like a more of a cantalope instead of a ball but it was neat to see

  • ahhh ther is my missing testicleyou found my missing testicle where is it?

    its fake

    aww well someday

  • *plays Indiana Jones theme*

  • Wonder who's ball that was.

  • OMFG HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

  • thanks IceCreamMatt! you made my day with this one :) totally rad

  • Dammit! That thing just keeps falling off!

  • Boy I sure hope it didn't hit anyone :\

  • nnnn..no

  • shadow of the ball fail!

  • @linkinparkman1234

yes he made a wrong selection of light. directional light would work fine

  • @linkinparkman1234

yes he made a wrong selection of light. directional light would work fine.

  • Thats something you don't see everyday.. well maybe in my neighborhood.. I bunk with Indiana Jones

  • can you do this just on 3dmax?and how?

  • @audayhussain2. Yes. Google search match moving tutorials, and digital compositing.

  • except for the end that lookt pretty real =D great job!

  • Does zooming can cause any major problems while tracking?

  • @TheTiivik Yes. The zoom is what caused that distortion at the end. For the most part it seemed to track alright with the zooming. This is the first scene I was able to get to track with the voodoo tracker. I don't really have much experience with tracking otherwise.

  • @IceCreamMatt15 I should also add that the zoom on the virtual camera changed to keep the tracking good. When I tried to undo the zoom then the the scene came out of sync with the tracking. This is why the shadow is distorted.

  • @TheTiivik If it ever comes to the worst you just track it frame by frame = S

  • @16ISMYNUMBER

yea right, it would take ages to do that. :D Just like rotoscoping, cool at first 2 minutes, next hours -painful.

  • @TheTiivik Yeah I agree but I have a new idea

Get a big stone ball and roll it down the street

  • @16ISMYNUMBER

you're a genius! how come noone ever thought about it. Just mention a tracking software in the title and every1 is like "omfg how real zomg best video evaaar"

  • @TheTiivik I sub'd :P

  • the light for the shadow looks too close, it moves unrealistically, fake but really awesome.

  • Very nice, but the shadow should be softer. If u use 3ds max you could use a Sunlight or an mr Omni

  • Thanks for the tip. I never heard of voodoo tracker. I'll DL it over the weekend and check it out.

  • New from Wham-O! It's GIANT STONE ball!

  • This seemed pretty cool, but the ending ruined the video

  • haha awesome. ball shadow is a little light vs. the car shadows, however. =)

  • @tailsfan4000

    Are you kidding me.

Of course its fake, the guy who made the video said that like 3 comments below you. Get out.

  • Looks great, but you should tweak the lighting, the shadow gets longer as the ball rolls closer to the camera, which isn't realistic if it's being lit by sunlight.

  • nice lol

U used 3ds max and just did a havok simon a textured sphere that was on top of a plane with a matte/shadow material and then composite it on top of your live action plate, right?

What I want to know is what you used to track. Was it one of the crappy free programs like icarus and voodoo or was it Boujou?

  • I didn't actually use havok. Just animated a ball rolling on a path.

I did use voodoo tracker if I remember right. I also agree that it is pretty crappy. It worked great for this shot, but my other test plates it didn't work well at all. What program do you recommend for tracking. I would like to learn something better.

  • I use voodoo too, but it's only worked once. If money isn't an issue, I recommend Boujou. I used the demo for a shot and it tracked perfectly where voodoo couldn't find a single point.

The problem with the demo is you can't save anything.

  • tracking with matchmover or boujou. boujou is a little faster but matchmovier is a lil easier for the average user.

  • @IceCreamMatt15 I wouldn't call it crappy, but once the ball gets close to the camera the texture on it starts to look somewhat like something out of a N64 game.

  • what programs did you use???

  • make a tutorial would be good hehe

  • NICE!

  • hahah awsome

  • how you do it?

  • some camera shaking, like an earthquake could help sell the illusion also

  • Ya, That's a good idea, if I ever re render this I'll definitely have to add that.

  • looks very real until it get close:D 5/5

  • well the model and the texture arent the best but ofcourse nice tracking

  • sometimes that happens because of barrel lens distortion, you can run your video through a de-lens barrelling filter type thing, which removes the barrel effect, which should help with distortiions.

  • run it through the de-barrelling filter before you do your match move. I forgot to mention that before.

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • Good Grahics

  • Nice graphics

  • Did you zoom the camera out in MAX to match the movement, or did you just physically move the camera backwards and away from the object? First couple movements look good but the last couple zoom-outs seemed to have parallax problems. Nice job though!

  • I just filmed my street, but when it match moved. At the end the camera lens in max distorted it or something. I tried changing the zoom on the camera, but then it undid the match move, and I am not skilled enough / have enough time to fix ti just for a test shot.

  • awsome video lol

  • awesome!

  • did the street die?

  • Only the most painful death.

  • ooh. crap thats terible :c

    my prayers are with it.

    lol

    amazing tracking btw.

  • Can You elaborate on the shadow and matte material. Was that a separate pass in AE that you multiplied or did you do it in Max?

  • Nice.

  • how do u get these effects?

  • shoot video, and composite a 3d model in using voodoo and 3dmax.

  • Please explain to me how did you add shadow. Thank you in advance mate

  • Use a matte material on a plane to receive shadows.

  • that looked like a cantalope

  • i don't know why but I can't stop laughing XD

  • VERY nice. Shadow wasn't blurred enough, but it was really cool. You should've added a sound effect.

  • Hey nice video anyway. Please tell me about the software you use for this. thnx

  • I used 3dmax and Voodoo tracker.

  • i think your 3d camera is zoomed in too much, you can tell when the model gets close, the shadow gets stretchy, and the ATST looked a bit strange when it got close too. but, i have to say barbara that was good work nonetheless

  • Ya, I totally agree. The zoom ended up distorting the camera near the end. I tried to fix it at the time I did this, but it would have been more effort than the time I wanted to put into this since I was just quickly trying out the match moving.

  • Lmao, its rolling up the hill!!

  • Sometimes it seemed like it was spinning way too fast....

  • i thought it was real until i saw it up close...

  • what part of windsor?...by cali

  • When Katamari goes HORRIBLY WRONG.

  • lol im so stuck at that game and uve just reminded me

  • i see teh SAME problem with all these cinema 4d, maya etc videos. teh computerized object always looks way brighter than the rest of teh vid. you need to make the object look as though it was recorded with teh same camera and in teh same place/lighting . sometimes teh objects look more clear too and it should match teh rest of teh vid. i dont even know how to make these things, but those parts are noticable and sound like easy fixes

  • teh

  • Good execpt two parts.

    1.) Shadow sucked

2.) Needs heavier bump-mapping and more motion blur when it passes the camera, also some better UV mapping.

Those are my $.02 and if you follow my advice. Studios will flock to you like your a God!! :)

  • I liked this test very much:) Combined with an actor running (rotoscoped) it could be a Indie-Spoof :) Check out my vids, I´ve got some matchmoving films myself.

  • Lol, almost thought it was real. Exept as it got closer. But still well done!

  • I think what happens is because the ball gets closer to the camera the match mover started to distort the scene to keep the camera match working. In the future I'm going to try to keep objects like that from getting so close.

  • your match moving was excellent. it was the texture/lighting you applied to the ball that gave the effect away. but i was sold. it really gave out the feeling that a giant boulder was rolling up to you.

  • Very nice, though as it gets closer, it looks fake. Otherwise, well done.

  • was the zooming and shaking added later?

  • Nope, I filmed the street using a digital camera, then match moved the model to the street scene afterwards.

  • lol randomdce

  • Heh, I've been trying to do some camera tracking in Maya. I got down how to do it, but as I had to rip off a video from youtube for practice, the quality is absolutely terrible, and makes it impossible to track accurately.

The video was actually some footage by a friend of mine, who unfortunately has not made the poor-man's stead-cam yet.

I need to make him one, and hopefully, when he gets the high-quality footage to me, my attempt at accurate tracking will succeed.

  • Will Maya do 3d tracking? I thought it only did 2d tracking like after effects.

  • Yes, it will, through Maya Live. I don't know which version it comes with, but I do know it can do camera tracking.

  • i see, were u using a tripod?

  • Yes, I cannot get voodoo tracker to work with footage not using a tripod.

  • was that just an image with a 3d ball on it?

    nice :D

  • The background is video I shot from a Canon camera. I motion tracked it with Voodoo Tracker and then put a ball on it in 3dmax. I could have done the whole thing with an image single image and it probably would have been easier. But the main purpose was trying to get a good 3d track from video footage.
