Retiring at E-6 is a whole lot better than retiring at E-5. When I was in the a nuclear med tech retired at E-5 but that was only because the army had no use for a nuclear med tech with the rank of E-6 - E-9. Its a bit of a shame but I am sure that man is making great money right now doing this job in the civy world.
I'm a Navy Corpsman who retired from 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing at Cherry Point NC exactly 20 yrs prior to this Marines retirement. Watching this video brought back a whole flood of memories.
I know Marine E-6's don't like to be called this, and we used it anyway's just to "bug"
them. but in this context I mean it as a compliment.
I only served 20yrs not 22, but you are right SSgt is a low rank to retire from but it only takes one Capt Dolphin to ruin your career. Lesson learned: the officer is always right.
@tonyfrom29 how effing true you are.... i had the misfortune of being a first hand witness at a general court martial against an officer ( he was a Major ) i witnessed a drunk / belligerent officer beat an enlisted man and set his room on fire. at the trial i was separated in a special room.. i was constantly badgered by officers who kept sneaking in and threating me if i ruined this man career. although i did have a good career in the Marine Corps.. it followed me everywhere.
I do not give a shit what the half cocked son's of bitches say in here. You did the right thing by serving our beloved nation. I'm sure that these bleeding heart hippies in here who make the comments they have made will and do not understand what we do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service.
Here is an explanation of how the US Flag and the hidden inner working COLORS of a gun are the same. The firing mechanism of a gun is located in an enclosed area in the upper corner of a gun, and it has two colors: very sad dark blue when reloading and at rest, and white sparks when being fired ( these white sparks ignite the red flame of the gun powder when the gun is being fired ). The long gun barrel has two colors: white outside light when it is at rest, and red flames when firing the gun.
So you're saying we go to war to enrich corporations. Real good. Need I remind you that the boys in Washington would have realized that they'd LOOSE money fighting this war? 'Ooh, guys...I think we made a mistake in our numbers. We're trying to GET money, but if we do this we'll end up with a national debt of 10 trillion dollars.' 'But if we go into debt we'll enrich corporation! Let's go!' That's what you're saying happened.
Anyway, Thank you for your service Staff Sergeant.
The government's foreign policy is based on the needs politically well-connected corporations for public subsidies (see Halliburton) and for corporate resource control. It is called the military-industrial complex, first described by a very honest Republican President of the United States named Dwight David Eisenhower.
Do we lose money on these various wars and proxy wars that the US govt. runs all over the world? Well, you and I might lose money, but corporations gain.
Corporations SHOULD gain so that people can have more jobs. It just shouldn't be expressly through government that they gain. And it isn't, because the people buy from corporation as well. There's nothing wrong with big businesses. The real problem is that government is actually meddling in private businesses. There's no disagreement here.
The disagreement is in the conduct of our men. Tell me, Are they spreading totalitarianism in the world or fighting it so that it doesn't spread to the US?
There IS a problem with big business. The problem is called the "race to the bottom". Corporations shop around the world for the cheapest labor, the weakest environmental laws, and the biggest subsidies from local govts.
As for US militarism...well, the USA has bombed 25 different countries since the end of world war 2. We try to overthrow any govt., democratic or otherwise, that is pro-labor or pro-peasant or that wants to keep our corporations out.
They search for cheap labor because of inflation, which is caused by government. I've found a contradiction that I need your help understanding: If corporations are searching for cheaper labor, then they're not loyal to America. So by yours standards there's nothing wrong with their actions.
On subsidies: Business HATES Government. Government can't do anything right except National Defense. They do not want subsidies loans because government can then dictate policy and regulate the business.
In answer to you statements on "US militarism," I would like to explain Soviet Expansionism. As you know, for quite some time Russia has been Communist. They might be Socialist now, but still: they must constantly introduce oppressive forms of government in the Third World in order to sustain their economy, because no one wants to work in a country that takes their earnings.
THIS is who we fight. If we allow Soviet Expansionism to succeed, it will destroy the American Free Enterprise system.

@JaradMoney ever thought some people try to keep a rank and not advance?
Chest Puller is a fine Example he turned down general once. years later he accepted the rank Lieutenant General and retired as it.
My father did 33 years of Military Service Enlisted Navy and USCG retired at the rank of Chief petty officer or E7
and lets face E9 is nothing but politics then again not a lot of E-9's any ways lol.
