I hope middle east can become the best place to live for women and women can be treated equally and only people like Queen Rania can make it possible to happen. An Afghan woman from Afghanistan
I think American girls are having more challenges in their lives more than us .. so why would I want the equality with men since They take care of me ( husband and father) and I can work whenever I want . and in Islam men are responsible for all the women demands . =) ( Gulf Arabian) << I pointed out cuz each arab country has it own way in raising children .
im a muslim girl and i love my religion but there is one thing that makes me think that islam isnt completely about equality between the genders and that is that men have the right to beat their "disobedient" wives (some defend it as saying that its only a "light" beating but really a punch a slap or a shove or a beating with a "thin stick" is all the same in that it humiliates and causes the same amount of emotional suffering as verbal/mental abuse) so how would muslim countries address this?
@Fletzy44 Actually, it wasn't a joke. I was speaking generally about history and applying it to hmmvanNoura's conservative point of view. He shared his thoughts, I shared mine. Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't speaking of a specific religion. My point is I do not approve of the chauvinistic view that women cannot or should not be leaders.
Queen Rania is a great woman ... You have al lot of courage to address these problems.
It's not only Islamic society that has these issues ... In the States we are great at pointing out the faults of others and failing to look at ourselves. I wish the US People and Govt were more willing to learn from outside our nation rather that just thinking we have all the answers.
@benh05 I'm sure your comment was a troll joke, but if not, please don't spread misinformation, especially when it concerns the sensitive issue of women & Islam. None of the prophets were female. Islam is actually quite misogynistic, & to try & falsely portray it as otherwise is not doing women any favors. Google Islamic prophets if you need the information.
Saying that honor killings are "being challenged" is not enough. Murder is murder, it does not matter what your motive was. Being challenged is the nice way of saying "it's ugly, but there are factors surrounding it that we agree with/accept". If you cannot punish individuals for such a clearly horrific act, then you have accepted it.
why is there honor killings anyway??? muslim girls are the most honorable/ cleanest comparing to the rest of the women in the world. Lets be honest now....
with all recpecting to you , but killing honor was more than 20 years ago in jordan but nowaday everything is change , iam from a very traditional muslim family but nowaday my sister could go where ever she want wearing whatever she like , we do the same thing , isn't in jordanian law could the women make what does she like ?? so after that its up to the girl and her honor then
honor killings have "nothing" to do with islam? How can you say that..no one else but muslims have the so-called honor killings. So it does have "something" to do with islam.
@FurlogTheGiant You're wrong. According to Human rights watch the practice goes across religions and cultures. It's found in Hindu communities (Rajputs) and even some Eastern European countries. It's predominantly found in Tribal communities, and it just so happens that the middle east has a lot of those...
@nishkov EXCUSE ME. Don't talk about all muslim or all middle east in General. There are PPL in US, in Europe, in Russia who hates Muslim people, there are skin heads, who hates all races except theirs
So as a muslim i do n many of my Middle east friends they respect other religion and other race, culture.
Abt pple who wants 2 fight Jihad, they can't represent all muslim or middle east community. They think what they have been taught, they are without knowledge, they have been misinterpreted.
I am so glad that she doesn't spout "cultural relativism" to pretend that everything's perfect. I love her honesty and passion. I think I just found myself a new hero! And I myself have met two very fine Muslim men from Libya who are kind and considerate and open-minded. As Ashraf put it, "If you're a good person, I don't care if you're Christian, Jew, or atheist!" Wonderful. Keep it up, girl!
There is another topic i want to bring with you regarding middle east. That is muslims have no respect for other religions and want to fight a jihad against the infidels. There are alot of people who have been forced converted to islam and women have been raped during those force conversions. As a queen how do you deal with acts of violence against religious minorities?
@nishkov There is no such thing as Muslims have no respect for other religions. Nor Jihad against the Infidels. Jihad is done only and only if we are attacked first or if they pose a real threat to Muslims. No people can be forced to be a Muslim. In the Koran t is stated that non-muslim are to be respected. Let alone women being raped in "forced conversion". There are 20 millions Christians living here side by side with Muslims without the slightest trouble since 1400 years ago. Those are lies.
Your Majesty, as an out Irish gay man who was raised as a Catholic, I support you in your efforts to achieve equality for Arab women in the Arab world - from my somewhat limited understanding of Islam, does not the Q'ran see both men and women as Equal partners in society...?
Hey, where can I go to get four husbands? One isn't enough.
Allowing one man to have four wives is just as weird as one woman having four husbands. How can you be equal if you are an addition to the inventory? Keep marriage at a 1:1 ratio would be a good start.
@Dynamic0381 the main reason women can only have one man is b/c every child has the right to know who his/her father is and vise versa. 2. the reason men can have four wifes is for when society needs it. ex. in times of war women drasticaly outnumber men. Every women has the right to a husband thus this is the only way. Give me a better solution? This is even true without war, plus nobody practices this, and men are not to do it if their wives object!
@peace871 NO woman would share man she loves, I would never share my man, I would just leave if I had to. I don't think it is truth that there are more women than men. And No man could ever cope with more than one woman. It is very hard even to keep relationship between to people, same is even for conversation, try to talk with 5 people . you will see no one really listens to anyone, and that even happens when two people are there
@STPFFS Parents HAVE to send their childrens to school, boys or girls, same thing, i think it's a law too.
The Quran stands that women and man are equals, that the women have the exact same rights as the man. Again , this was the general belief many many years ago , but basically ALL arab womens work just like mens. People have such a weird view of arab mens !
By the way , i'm speaking of my country, Morocco , but all countries are like this , except for Saudi Arabia. Just had to clear this.
I admire you very much. Thanks for teaching people about the reality of the Eastern world, and for giving us knowledge about those stereotypes. You're a great female heroine & role model!
a good king or a queen is a treasure to a country, than many 'democratically elected' cowards.. think of yourself, and the king of Bhutan.. these two countries are far more peaceful than present day Iran, where Ahmedinejad is oppressing its people..
Your highness, you are so beautiful and inspirational. Thank you for sharing this information about Arab Women, and explaning some stereotypes. Bless you!
I'm traveling in Arabic speaking countries (poorer countries) next month and was wondering what women would like as gifts. (something easy to carry) Thanks in advance.
Your highness you are so right in your comments..We are trying to bring back our king his majesty king Reza Pahlavi to Iran..Hope by then we'll have the great honer to have you and his majesty king of Jordan be our guests...
The problem is not that violence against women does not occur in the West. In fact, women, because of their inability to physically defend themselves, are violated regularly. The problem comes when violence against women becomes a duty bestowed upon a man by his god. Allah is the only god who confers upon a man such rights as to beat his wife. And as Allah puts it, a man is not only two times the value of a woman, but that a man is the maintainer of women. (surahs 2:282, 4:34, 4:176)
Shukran jazeelan! I really love hearing enlightened Arab women such as yourself speaking out on these issues. Everything you say is true. Arabs cannot be stereotyped and honor-killing has no honor. I have written a movie script which deals with these things and I hope to shoot it partly in your country with permission of course. Expect to hear from me!
Queen: I do admire your honesty and speaking out. There is no honor in honor killings, shouldn't the law there be changed to reflect the progress Jordan has made in the 21st century? Even though u said it is not a part of Islam and I agree a just God would not want killing as a part of the culture, some point to Surah 18:74-81 as an approval of honor killings.
An honor killing is when a man suspects his wife/daughter of illicit actions and therefore kills her, or sees her committing fornication and therefore kills her, and that is NOT in Islam.
If you read the Qur'an FULLY as well as the necessary sayings of the Prophet, you will see that for the act of fornication to be punishable there must be: 4 witnesses of the act + taking to the court of Law. And it is not always punishable by death sentence.
Or they could confess to the crime out of honesty and spirituality and respect for God and setting a good example for the community that crimes are wrong!
It is punishable by lashing of BOTH the man and the woman who fornicated (not only the woman) if 4 eyewitnesses (pretty much done in public) see it and they are NOT married.
It is punishable by the death sentence of BOTH the man and the woman (not only the woman) if they are already MARRIED but cheat their spouses so that 4 people are able to see it (pretty much in public).
Secondly, the court of Law applies the punishment and sees the evidence, not her father/brother etc...
@Hermy777 Well said. Also, I don't believe that the number of women in Parliament is at all indicative of the advancement of human rights in a country. Take Sudan for example, where incidences of female circumcision are most prevalent. Whilst I do find Queen Rania incredibly inspirational in that she has the courage to discuss such contentious issues, the causal link made between this statistic and "the progress made" was pretty misleading and embarrassing on her behalf.
Some people are rasest and don't want to listen what the Queen is sayng no matter how true the things she sayd but just leave those people they probaly have no friensd and everyone hates them trust me ;)
queen Rania,Arab female freinds of mine claim abuse of arab women is more comment!I realy like my arab freinds and my heart bleads for them!please respond!!
As an Arab-Muslim woman born in Algeria, no matter the place, I face and deal with every stereotype and misconception possible about the arab and islamic culture, especially in regards to women. In this, when someone does make such a comment or ask such a question, I do one thing: I ask them if I am example of it. They stand in confusion, as I am not. That, is the first step in combatting stereotypes; setting and using yourself as the example, as does Queen Rania herself.
Most of the sterotypes made about Women in the middle east and north Africa are linked to Islam ...many people around the world associate islam to the arab world and lets admit it .more than 85% of muslim countries are arab ...It would be interesting to see you adressing the seterotypes and prejugments about MUSLIM woman
You couldn't be further from the truth. More than 50% of Muslim countries are not Arabic countries, and the overwhelming majority of Muslims are NOT Arabs.
Go to h t t p : / / en . wikipedia . org / wiki/List_of_Muslim_majority_countries for a list of Muslim countries - you will notice that most of them are not Arab countries, and that the majority of Muslims are not Arabs.
Admit that more than 85% of Muslim countries are Arab? Where did you get that statistic from? As of 2009 according to the US Central Intelligence Agency, the four countries with the highest Muslim populations are Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. None of those countries are Arab or even related to Arabs.
Arabs only make up 15% of Muslims worldwide, so they are actually a MINORITY in the Muslim world. Know your facts before you post ignorant comments in public.
Why is it arab women and not Muslim Women ..I have so much respect for your majesty and I admire you ..but why do you keep ignoring Islam when its a crucial element in what we are ..what we will be and what others think we are ?...
I think she's a role model for women in Middle East and beyond. She inspires others. She has changed in a way, the perspective we have of arab women. it is wonderful that she's taking the time to talk about these and other matters. She compromises with her country, as well as she is concerned about the rest of the World. God Bless you Queen Rania!
Arab women art from Arab tribe. Arab tribe is best community. Arab women are like standing on top of mountain everest and allother women around and about this mountain for guidance and security and wisdom!.
if women are less in the Parliament doesn't mean that she is not equal with men
how stupid thinking ..
most of the raped girls in the world are in the west, most of divorce girls are in the west and they get beaten by guns some time, they louse their Virgin when they get only 15 years old and all these issues Muslims women don't have it
It was my dream to meet you since I've heard about you for the first time. That is not possible, I know, but that's why I have You Tube. It is very pleasant to watch your videos and enjoy in your example of independent, smart and beautiful woman.
good job queen rania all women have the right to freedom and security god certainly did not create women to be abused.if people just took the time to look at themselves and take responsibility of their behavior and not killing women for the sake of a name at the end of the day we go to god ,god doesnt care about your name its what you did in your life .
my opinion, about beating woman, i lived in a country that u may think is 3000 yrs backward, but all i saw was respect and love from husbands to wives, n by the way, men beat each other 2, but woman like being called victims, what are we proving and to whom anyway? for me, it's good enough to know that we treat our women fairly, don't have to make others believe so.
EVERYONE has gone through, what islam is going though today. in the dark ages of Europe, Christians killed non Chiristians for not becoming Christian.
Hate= war no matter who you are or what faith you are.
Islam is a great faith. its too bad people in the west want us to hate them, but its slowly getting better. i want to be a journalist to tell the truth, about islam and the Palsetinians/ Isrealis. Isreal is the reason we the USA is fighting in the middle east. they are the reason for the rise in terror. i dont believe we where in this mess before 1947. that is the truth. yes there are terrorists, they kill in the name of Allahm or so they believe.
You are the wife of a puppet dictator who has done his utter most to enslave the muslim people to western imperial ambitions. He arrests muslims who call for the islamic cliphate system to be implemnted instead of corrupt secular system of the west and its brand of nationalism. you and the government u stand for are illegitimate and the real cause of the corruption which has this Ummah. the caliphate is coming and u traitors will be punished by the Ummah.
i think its "funny" that ngos and other international programms, should deal with their religious problems or culture problems... i mean why doesnt she say: well the quran is no longer a part of the education, or politics, or justice, or whatever... so that woman can be really free of all that problems that brought a religion founded by stupid old and pervers man :( :S brrr funny really hihihi ahahah LOL
It is, however, refreshing to see that the Queen was honest about some of the stereotypes of Arab culture. And she is right, persecution of women is a worldwide problem for Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, etc. Based on some of recent news reports, she may have understated the problem of HONOR KILLINGS, however, admitting the problem is again, refreshing.
@Raven144 no not true x'D the explaining in arabic is not the same as in english, it sayd in arabic you have to put wall between thos two when they are arguing until they feel better and miss echother...
i just want to say that youre right! The people in the west world think that the arab/muslim are so violent and terrorists! But that is not true! I am living in the west world but my dad comes from palestine. I hear everyday things about the arab, i just want to tell everybody that they are wrong! I´m so glad that you try to change what people hinks about the arab. I think that everyone should do that, so that the people in the west world can change what they think bout the arab.
Are you kidding, no respect for women or for your mother? All human bean is equal and should be treated the same, no discrimination please!!! without a woman you would not exist Mr Bailey's
population will follow you in your decision to make that difference! I'm glad that we in Marocco are protected by law thanks to Princess Lalla Meryem who always fighted for many years for the emancipation and rights of our women!!
Dear Rania, i feel very sad and angry at the same time when i hear about those honourkillings in the name of Islam. That is no Islam! does anyone have the right to take someone else's live? Why do this barbarian-methodes take place in your modern country? Can't your governement make a law to condemn and punish those called "honourmurderers"? I believe in you Rania, and i'm sure the (see next message please)
nice video, but queen rania please don't talk about parliments 0:47
a parliment is used to represent the people that voted, the people vote for the parties they want and the earn a seat in the parliment, and the majority will form a government and the rest an opposition to represent the people that lost
where in the arab world can we vote, where in syria (baathi) can there be more than one party rulling, or where is the party in sudan representing darfur
Men who missed the core of the topic and instead only see the outer exterior are superficial and insecure thus they attack without logic. Educated men whom are secure will not have a problem with this video!! Only men who have the need to feel superior due to their own lack of inner self confidence will refute because they dont know any better. If you listen right you might have a chance to develop your principals and moralities and live in peace with yourself before anyone else
Head covers was used before Islam, it was worn by both men and women in different ways for protection from the blazing sun (environmental reasons) it then became a part of the tradition and culture till it reached religion. Covering the head was practiced in both Christianity and Islam (men and women) in the old days, religious Christian women still wear head covers when visiting the church. Part of the Muslim women do wear the hijab, however this doesn't make those who dont any less people

Your Majesty, your compassion, intelligence, eloquence, and leadership are truly inspiring. You do so much to enlighten a world in the dark with regard to Arab culture and history. Thank you for your efforts to educate and illuminate.
There's at least one woman --- Queen Rania --- who knows more than you'll ever learn, "anold". Her Majest speaks with such intelligence and eloquence that your poor simple mind can only produce blatherings of an ignorant bigot. P.S. There was no "Mrs. Hitler" but great women in history include Dolly Madison, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, Catherine de Medici, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Catherine the Great, Indira Gandhi, and Cleopatra, and Susan B. Anthony.
Did you woman like Rania also known as Mrs Hitler should understand men will always be on first woman come 2nd or last.
Woman's place is at home, taking of children and pleasing man's needs. Unfortunately for woman like Rania speaks against men in this world but supports woman. If Woman were to have equal as men it would create disaster to this world.
It is not easy to be a women in general, but at least in Western wold you can speak up and you will be protected, i dont think that the same is in the middle east especially in such countries as Pakistan and Afganistan.
I'm a woman from Finland. Finland is considered one of the most equal country between women and men. Still if you choose a different way to be, it might be a problem to women. For example I'm working as a naval officer, and sometimes I've had hard times, because I'm woman.
And in Finland, women are beaten by their husbands and boyfriends quite a lot, if compared internationally.
So if it's not easy to be an arab woman, it might not be easy to be a western woman either.
evaannika, i really like your comment. Please refer to the muslim scholar regarding women right in islam and you'll be amaze to know that islam has raise the dignity or upgraded women right 15000 year ago. In islam no such thing is fighting for women right. , we already got it.
She is not a '' REPRESENTATIVE OF MUSLIMS'' and as for as i understand she is a wrong role model for MUSLIM women as I still remember the pictures of 'QUEEN' Immodest dress that she put on in one of the functions.Driving muslim women towards ''IMMODESTY'' has nothing to do with ''EQUAL RIGHTS''.
First i want to make one thing clear that I am a liberal muslim not an ' Arab' .
Queen of Jordan has done some good things in her country but more so she has served her cause to get famous n compete with 'Princess Diana'.
I want equal rights for women in every country even in west. Do women in WEST have equal rights? i dont think as for as i understand by living in west. Womens equal rights are cosmetic there are lots of rights women don't have..e.g equal pay, women being harassed, raped etc
you are an idiot women do have equal rights in the west btw i too am a liberal muslim, women getting harrassed raped etc thats y u can take those ppl to court btw men get harrassed to maybe not sexually but physically and many women do earn more than many men in the west, because its all in thier talent in fact my higher ups are 60% women. btw i totally agree with Queen Rania in what she says she is very correct keep up the good work :)
Heezey, why do you think women was raped or being harassed sexually? Did they behaved or dress decently according to the islamic teaching. So who to blame if this thing happen to them?
U are an idiot, in the west women do have equal rights many women in the west earn more than men and are the breadwinners in there household btw wut queen rania is saying is correct, and also everybody gets harrased and has had actions of injustice commited against them. INCLUDING MEN. BTW thier is much women on women violence as well which includes harrassment (calling names degrading emails etc which occurs especially amongst our youth). Also the raping of women is not condoned in the west
The most sad thing about religion, politics, nationality etc is the lack of Tolerance for those who are, think, feel or belive different. We may have a peaceful life between and inside of the countries and their belives, if we think of the "other" as a brother, sister, mother, father, grand parent or a beautiful creation materialized of our God.
I don't know what kind of messages people have sent to you, however, I can't see a clear desmitification of those stereotypes about women in Islam. The violence against women, is present in the all world, that's true. You said you know your religion, well, your religion was mine too, and I know it. The most radical difference between the West and the Islamic "world", is that in the Islamic "world", the violence come from Islam. I know, I know the Quran, the Hadith. And that's true.
You do not know the Quran as well as you think u know it, THERE IS NO WHERE I REPEAT ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE IN THE QURAN HADITH, IN ALL OF ISLAM WHERE VIOLENCE IS PROMOTED. Islam is a religion of peace and love and tranquility. In fact it is completely dispicable and shameful that many people in the islamic world use islam to condone thier various inhumane actions.
100% agreed with your comments. Muslin does not come from one ethnic group alone. Many msulim come from different background and cultures. When they become muslim they must adopt the muslim cullture or sunnah.Unfortunately they mixed them up. The Orientalist taking advantage of this and start their propaganda and try to show the world this is islam teaching. Dont be sad fellow muslim, Allah is watching their evil deed and they get their piece of meat soon.
It is far better to take action and educate, like Her Majesty Queen Rania, rather than wish ill or curse those who lack tolerance, understanding, and knowledge.
Since it is shameful for women in your country to go and complain or report to the police they are silent. do you really know the numbers of all women and children!!! that have been harassed in your country?? what is the government doing about it? men there are not following the law and unfortunately breaking the rules of their religion. While women not wearing hijab are great great sinners.
Is there anything being done on Harassment? in the streets, in the homes, in sports clubs? Is there a LAW to protect an independent woman from a pervert? a predator? from hurtful words and attitudes towards woman in the streets? Law need to be enforced HARASSMENT is unacceptabl and it veryyyy influential.
It `s an honor to women in the world to have a person so worried about women situation in the arab world but also around the world I encourage you your majesty to continue opening people`s mainds thank God we have you, you are my model of a brave, intelligent and successful woman.
Thank you for changeing minds one video at a time!
A fantastic woman with beauty and brains in equal measure. It's really nice that she takes time to talk about issues like this to the online community. The Arab World needs more people like her.
hi Queen Rania, I am very interesting in women issues in the world of Islam. Even though I am not arab or neither muslim , I am happy becasue finally the arab woen got someone to fight for there rights . You are the modern of the Islam women.
Then why are so many videos of women being abused in islamic countries? i remember that a couple of weeks ago i read on a portuguese newspaper that a muslim young girl was sentenced because she was raped! As for the attacker nothing happened to him, because he was a man. And more in the easter i travelled to Egypt, and we went to this little village near luxor, and we were told , that in that village if a bride was not virgin till the marriage and the familly found out she would be killed.
In Brazil the fight to the right to vote for women was long and painful. Many attempts were made and drowned by paternalist power. Even many legit female votes were annulled, and also an epsidode where this right was legitimated and then withdrawn from the consitution 10 days after. But that didn't mean a loss. We kept on fighting, men and women side by side, to get this right legitimated by the constitution. Finally in 1931 we made it.
"Honor" killing has something to do with radical Islam and the religious Muslims are always the culprit.Jordan isn't a secular country and a good number of people are religious.
The government is religious, its the fault of the government not to adapt secular laws that why it is still happen.
Sharia is backward and should be abolished completely
Well, a Muslim or hindu or christian countrys calling is dependant on the religious majority, as jordans majority is Muslim, soi its a muslim country, quite simple ;)
There is a huge difference between the standards of living between the east and west of Amman, between poor and the wealthy. One of my husband's cousins lives in east Amman and she stopped wearing hijab at 30 yrs of age and I know the family is very disgraced by her.
I have spent about 2 months in Jordan, in Amman and in Aqaba. Mostly Amman. I think it is great that you speak so positively about women and I had read an OK article where you said that it is a woman's choice to wear the hijab.... but that is not what I saw in East Amman.
I am a Muslim woman living in the UK and I can say that religion has not been any kind of barrier to me. If anything, I see Muslim women more politically active than men and this is an achievement to be proud of.
you are such a wonderful woman. I am Christian but have Muslim friends and have always admired the religion. In my country, Barbados, Muslims and Christians live side by side and Muslim women are an active part of our community. Thank you Queen Rania,.
It's so true that violence is everywhere worldwide... thank you so much for bringing down stereotypes and working to improve the lives of women everywhere!!
I believe that Ranias intentions are nothing but good, but am I the only one who feels like I didn't gain any knowledge that i didn't already have by watching her response? She's stating the obvious, and is not really answering the questions. But I like this woman, I think she's really what our world need. She herself is a very good face representing the arab world, and I am NOT talking about her looks!
Number2: In the west we have abused women centres. If a woman finds herself in a dangerous relationship, she can escape, if she really wants to. What can a woman in the arab world do, if she doesn't have her own job and support from her family? In many cases, abused women who try to divorce, are looked down by their families and society
Here in the US, one out of four women are raped/beaten or otherwise abused by the men in their lives. I'm one of five daughters, and all but one had endured some form of abuse at one time or another. As you say; this is a world problem.
if you guys type in "Sharia Stoning" in youtube and click search you will see the first link that comes up saying sharia stoning [graphic] its a video from Iran what they do to women. Its extremely horrific make sure you all got guts to watch it else don't bother. I can't even explain what they did to that pretty young lady it really does break my heart to know men does this to women really is sad.
But hey 6th century Christianity was no different.
Dear Queen Rania, women are not oppressed in the Arab world alone, infact they are in totality oppressed, almost all over the world.
Most of the times it is due to male nature of dominating over women, sometimes due to poor conditions-(social or ethical) that she is susceptible to her vulnerability.
I am an Indian, n have lived in riyadh n jeddah for few years. Right now i'm a teacher in a school whose mission is to change Muslim stereotypes.
I hope middle east can become the best place to live for women and women can be treated equally and only people like Queen Rania can make it possible to happen. An Afghan woman from Afghanistan

Google Islamic prophets if you need the information.

there should never be equal rights between man and women, thats against nature and religion.
A woman is not the same as a man, face it.
women should have their rights, and should be treated with respect. But a woman should never be a leader. They can't handle the same rights as men.
Why do you think that all of the prophets were men?

Saying that honor killings are "being challenged" is not enough. Murder is murder, it does not matter what your motive was. Being challenged is the nice way of saying "it's ugly, but there are factors surrounding it that we agree with/accept". If you cannot punish individuals for such a clearly horrific act, then you have accepted it.

QueenRania.
Well said regarding womens rights in middle east.
There is another topic i want to bring with you regarding middle east. That is muslims have no respect for other religions and want to fight a jihad against the infidels. There are alot of people who have been forced converted to islam and women have been raped during those force conversions. As a queen how do you deal with acts of violence against religious minorities?
nishkov 1 year ago
@nishkov There is no such thing as Muslims have no respect for other religions. Nor Jihad against the Infidels. Jihad is done only and only if we are attacked first or if they pose a real threat to Muslims. No people can be forced to be a Muslim. In the Koran t is stated that non-muslim are to be respected. Let alone women being raped in "forced conversion". There are 20 millions Christians living here side by side with Muslims without the slightest trouble since 1400 years ago. Those are lies.

Hey, where can I go to get four husbands? One isn't enough.
Allowing one man to have four wives is just as weird as one woman having four husbands. How can you be equal if you are an addition to the inventory? Keep marriage at a 1:1 ratio would be a good start.
Dynamic0381 1 year ago
@Dynamic0381 the main reason women can only have one man is b/c every child has the right to know who his/her father is and vise versa. 2. the reason men can have four wifes is for when society needs it. ex. in times of war women drasticaly outnumber men. Every women has the right to a husband thus this is the only way. Give me a better solution? This is even true without war, plus nobody practices this, and men are not to do it if their wives object!
peace871 1 year ago 12
@peace871 i give you a solution send both women and men to war so the the causalities are the same and everybody is equal
MrAmerica406 1 year ago
@peace871 NO woman would share man she loves, I would never share my man, I would just leave if I had to. I don't think it is truth that there are more women than men. And No man could ever cope with more than one woman. It is very hard even to keep relationship between to people, same is even for conversation, try to talk with 5 people . you will see no one really listens to anyone, and that even happens when two people are there

Queen: I do admire your honesty and speaking out. There is no honor in honor killings, shouldn't the law there be changed to reflect the progress Jordan has made in the 21st century? Even though u said it is not a part of Islam and I agree a just God would not want killing as a part of the culture, some point to Surah 18:74-81 as an approval of honor killings.
pitojr 2 years ago
An honor killing is when a man suspects his wife/daughter of illicit actions and therefore kills her, or sees her committing fornication and therefore kills her, and that is NOT in Islam.
If you read the Qur'an FULLY as well as the necessary sayings of the Prophet, you will see that for the act of fornication to be punishable there must be: 4 witnesses of the act + taking to the court of Law. And it is not always punishable by death sentence.
o0abdo0o 2 years ago
Or they could confess to the crime out of honesty and spirituality and respect for God and setting a good example for the community that crimes are wrong!
hbk711x 2 years ago

The most radical difference between the West and the Islamic "world", is that in the Islamic "world", the violence come from Islam. I know, I know the Quran, the Hadith. And that's true.

Which begs the question why in Christian countries domestic violence is a huge problem as well...

You are wright violence is a huge problem in other countries too, but it is not as big as in the islamic world

Dear Queen,
Is there anything being done on Harassment? in the streets, in the homes, in sports clubs? Is there a LAW to protect an independent woman from a pervert? a predator? from hurtful words and attitudes towards woman in the streets? Law need to be enforced HARASSMENT is unacceptabl and it veryyyy influential.

Well, I challenge your claim that it is cultural.
Arabs have nothing to do with it.

There is a huge difference between the standards of living between the east and west of Amman, between poor and the wealthy. One of my husband's cousins lives in east Amman and she stopped wearing hijab at 30 yrs of age and I know the family is very disgraced by her.
ramejada 2 years ago
I have spent about 2 months in Jordan, in Amman and in Aqaba. Mostly Amman. I think it is great that you speak so positively about women and I had read an OK article where you said that it is a woman's choice to wear the hijab.... but that is not what I saw in East Amman.

What kind of rights do the women in Jordan have; what rights are the women pushing for?

I am a Muslim woman living in the UK and I can say that religion has not been any kind of barrier to me. If anything, I see Muslim women more politically active than men and this is an achievement to be proud of.

you are such a wonderful woman. I am Christian but have Muslim friends and have always admired the religion. In my country, Barbados, Muslims and Christians live side by side and Muslim women are an active part of our community. Thank you Queen Rania,.

Queen Rania,
Please, the genocide of the Palestines in Gaza
by the Israel igovernment s so unGodly.
Here in American I write my senators and congresspeople but they never listen to me regarding the Gaza genocide,
Zionism is causing more hatred of the Jewish
people worldwide because of the Israel
government.
My question is why aren't more Muslim
countries standing up to Israel becasue
of genocide of the Palestines?

I believe that Ranias intentions are nothing but good, but am I the only one who feels like I didn't gain any knowledge that i didn't already have by watching her response? She's stating the obvious, and is not really answering the questions. But I like this woman, I think she's really what our world need. She herself is a very good face representing the arab world, and I am NOT talking about her looks!
I still thank Rania for doing this!

Number2: In the west we have abused women centres. If a woman finds herself in a dangerous relationship, she can escape, if she really wants to. What can a woman in the arab world do, if she doesn't have her own job and support from her family? In many cases, abused women who try to divorce, are looked down by their families and society
holycork 2 years ago

Good to know it has people like Queen Rania.
MMATSdreadnautLOVER 2 years ago
Dear Queen Rania, women are not oppressed in the Arab world alone, infact they are in totality oppressed, almost all over the world.
Most of the times it is due to male nature of dominating over women, sometimes due to poor conditions-(social or ethical) that she is susceptible to her vulnerability.
I am an Indian, n have lived in riyadh n jeddah for few years. Right now i'm a teacher in a school whose mission is to change Muslim stereotypes.
India and the Arab world have a lot in common.
