IF FSG do decide to build this I wonder how many of the critics would still call it cheap? There is no doubt the HKS design is unique, its not just another bowl. It has what a club wants: plenty of executive boxes, club seats, concessions, and rest rooms. Along with wide concourses for easy access, improved loading dock, storage facilities, community center, and a conference center. Not to mention a museum and boot room to put Anfield's to shame.
They haven't made their decision yet, they could possibly build this HKS design... As of mid-July 2011 it appears more likely they will build a new stadium instead of redeveloping Anfield. But we will know what they decide soon...
I'm a Man United fan, and quite frankly, this stadium needs to be built. This stadium is the first of its kind in the world, and it will probably become the template for modern stadiums worldwide. I'm envious of the fact that Liverpool fans, may one day be able to say, that they created the next generation of stadia.
You people sure do persist don't you. You must think we are stupid (Granted most of us are) This stadium is a horrendous eye-sore and you are simply promoting it because you have been told to! Don't try to manipulate us by buttering us up! My goodness you're a slimeball. This stadium will never be built and no football supporters with a brain would want their club to have a hideous, cheap looking stadium like this.
@clubindigo Wouldn't surprise me if you were. 16? So you would have been 13(?) When the acquisition was made. Do you know about Press releases, rhetoric, hyperbole, vertical intergration? If you're 16 then please accept that you are not in a position from which to make stupid comments stating that this stadium should lead the way.
Maybe the new ownership will be able to actually finish the ground, and hopefully with a new design because the current one is atrocious in my opinion. It's an american football stadium with a single tier. Leave it to an american company to design a stadium like that. I don't know why they can't renovate anfield though, then they keep the history, but it would be more modern. I'm no architect, let them figure it out.
@sigurdurlfc I hope so. Anfield has so much history, it would be a shame to rip it down. The Yankees ripped down the old yankee stadium, it would be a shame to rip it down. I'm a liverpool fan, and I don't want them to rip down Anfield.
The Emirates is an ugly generic looking concrete bowl. If Liverpool actually ever build this thing, it will piss on every other stadium in the Premiership. It's an incredible design.
@DarthCipient What a pathetic assesment! This stadium was far more horrendous than the Emirates. It was frankly a hideous eye-sore, composed mostly of cheap glass. PR manipulation tactics don't work on everyone. Hicks and Gillett are no more and this nightmare of a stadium will never be built! Thank goodness!
@Epsonglol07 This was a nice looking stadium, but it's obvious that it was never getting past the scale model/concept design stage. The whole thing was a facade designed to mislead the world into thinking these two fuckers actually had money
I agree, its an outstanding unique design which will attract a major sponsorship to help pay for it. A new larger stadium is required for any future greatness on the pitch financially. 61k-71k seating capacity is 15k to 25k more paying fans, period.
you are right, there is only one Anfield, and it will always be in all liverpool fans hearts. But this new arena can be a new start for Liverpool. I know that it will be wonderful for us!
Come on, don't accept standardisation with this stadium, it will be one of the most unique, beautiful, intriquite stadiums in europe let alone the world. I'm not a liverpool supporter but would one day love to see this stadium in its glory.
This stadium is atleast taking away from the norm from what some english stadiums have gone down with the circular form.
I know anfield has alot of history but to move with the times is a different story.
:( It will never feel the same anymore.. it just looks pretty, but its hollow.. no history, no glory.. I just dont like it, I wish they couldnt finish it.. building a new stadium was a bad idea!! I HATE IT, I love anfield! i lov livpool althou i wasnt born there, i am a fan!!
Im sure you are aware that the club have no choice as Anfields capacity cant be increased. We need a bigger stadium otherwise we wouldnt be able to compete, ie a capacity of even 60,000 would generate around £500,000 more every game
Why not install speakers with supporter's chants? Maybe it's intresting for architects, but to me as a football fan it doesn't appeal. It breaths no history.
Wow! I cant believe this will be Liverpool's new home ground. This stadium will p**s all over Old Traford (after the 76,000-80,000 seats are fitted in the near future)

Not selling to the arabs will cost for years to come.If we didn't have Rafa we would be in a spiral of decline.
