Oh and he plays wonderfully! I don't believe this is the hardest piece for piano, but I will say this: I've heard many perfectly clean recordings of Gaspard de la Nuit, La Valse, Islamey-an Oriental Fantasy, but never of this Toccata, not even Emil Gilels.

I hope he keeps up this amazing work!

I play the E with the thumb and the other chords with 2345, lol, but I am just learning this piece (for senior recital, I'm a sophomore now). I don't see any other way of doing it, and the keys fit pretty nicely for 2345. Curve your fingers more, maybe?

does anybody have suggestions on fingering on the first page with the chords?

It is difficult to place hands in between the black and white keys and get down to the E

in between things about measure 5

should that E be played with the thumb?

If so, please don't tell me the remaining part with the chords should be played with fingers 2345.

Leave out the "G" in the right hand, and add a G to the left hand chord instead. Yes, play the E with your right thumb.

Good luck, and try not to give yourself tendinitis learning it :S
