Thanks for the comment. I saw your fine gold question and they were right all you need is some v-matting under your miners moss. That moss looked ok, and you might as well rerun all that material if you had nothing under the MM the first go. If you have only fine gold you could even get rid of your riffles IMO. In Nome (90% fine gold) the undercurrent boxes slow down the material enough for the fine gold to get trapped. Classification is key. A 1/4" screen should help. GL
Nice dredge. For kayaks they sell some strap on two wheel rigs for transporting kayaks to the water and back. I wonder if two of those, one on each side, on one end of your dredge would allow you to pick up the other end and walk the dredge like a wheel barrel from your truck to the water, then unstrap them to work the dredge. Might work, and help a lot when it's a long ways, and down hill to the water.
Hey there, I just wanted to comment on all of your videos. I just watched most of them and you kick ass! I just created this account but will be uploading some gold videos soon. I live in Idaho and Alaska is a dream for me! Idaho has some good placer deposits though, not many nugs. I'm going to add you and I'll get some good videos up sometime. That dredge is just sick! Gotta love prospecting in the snow!
Dude kev u r in my favorite place in gold bar. Check the moss n of the boat dock and under hwy2 if u had a land dredge set up u could suck up the material under the bridge and do well because the gray clay layer right there acts as a bedrock. later
I can build the floatation, have the hoses and sluice, etc. but what about the setup for the centrifugal pump? is that just a separate wetend i can use on a regular 4hp motor or what? or does the pump come with the engine?
Nice job but you should rethink the aspect of the anti vibration pads, Spartan dredges were the first to incorporate the vibration from the motor to the sluice it increased the recovery rate. I use this method and with it and I get fine gold smaller than a grain of sand. I also found the advantage of a flare jet to be easier on me in the river ( one hose instead of two) God luck.
It's great tinkering around and building it yourself. As far as the floatation you could build it like a stitch and glue boat. You can fiberglass it. Built over a small wooden frame or use foam blocks glued together and shaped however you like. Then fiberglass over the foam. Just be sure to use epoxy resin that wont react with the foam. And ebay is a great source for the other parts you need. Watch what air hose you use.AQnd sanitize the system regularly or you will get a double lung infection.
Excellent demo video. I built a similar two-incher and it had plenty of suction using only a 4 hp Honda trash pump. With your high pressure pump you could certain run a 3 or maybe a 4 inch suction nozzle.
Good job, there is really some good satisfaction that comes out of building your own dredge... Good Luck, and as hixon says, May the fever be with you...
Cool video, looks like a gold getting machine. I purchased a 3 inch keene last year with a 4 hp honda motor and hookah with plenty of suction If you upgrade like mentioned. Keep up the shadetree dredging and show us some gold.
i totaly like the dredge you came up with, but i was wondering why you went with a two inch intake and not larger. the shallow draft is a win with me and a moter just set up for the air ..plus plus! keep us posted on any modifications and how well it works over all.
I got everything except the aluminum used and the motor, pump, sluice box, nozzle and hoses all came together. I think a 4hp could power a 3 inch nozzle if I wanted to upgrade.
sweet dredge. =)

YOU NEED A SNORKEL ON YOUR HOOKAH. THE EXHAUST CAN DO IN YOU IN BEFORE YOU REALIZE IT'S TOO LATE.

Ah! The old forgot the hose clamp trick. Love that one working the fingers on the lower Merced. Testing your equipment in the cold, priceless!

Boy, the way that things blow water like a fire hose, that would work great to discourage those pesky jet skiers.
