That's a darn shame. Koforidua is a fun place to be...one of the best in Eastern Region.

Yes, Koforidua is a lovely mountain town, and one of those regional capitals that has something endearing about it......I think it is Jackson Park, where the old football pitch was behind Market Road, that has been used for this function before, and it is a nice common area, but it needs a little more done to it......but there are some nice little bars around that area......
I will have to make it a point to go back up that way next trip, as I want to see the Boti Falls.......

@Ghanapedia This boils down to who's in charge. That's the Eastern Regional capital yet some areas are just not right at all. That is the Jackson park? Every 6th March celebrations are held there. It can't be looking this bad.

Well, Jackson Park is really just a concrete slab in a common area, but I think a lot of Ghanaian towns lack a common area like this, so I think Koforidua was able to close the old football stadium off of Market Road, and relocate about half a mile south of town.
I don't know where this project is located, but it reminds me of the one I saw being constructed behind Main Road in Bolgatanga a couple of years ago. I think the Kufuor administration planned them in every capital.

@Ghanapedia It's a shame I was born there but haave visited only being in 3 regions out of ten. I was thinking of going off to Paga to sit on a live crocodile but my cousin - she's way too scared! I call that adventure.

That's funny, I have not been to the Upper West or Brong-Ahafo Regions, but that's it........when Ghanaians hear how much I've travelled throughout Ghana, they always say "Oh well then you are a Ghanaian then", and they generally find it fascinating that I've been to so many places in the country.....
As for the crocodiles, I don't think people realize that these crocodiles are not like the ones in nothern Australia, they are not aggressive at all......

@Ghanapedia That's true. I wouldn't go to Florida and jump on a 16 foot 2000 pound crocodile... I would become tasty lunch for them. The ones in Paga were raised differently and they don't attack humans.
I think I have seen you in a picture squatting by a crocodile. Or maybe it might have been a mix up with another person.

Yes, that's me on the crocodile in Paga, I did that in February 2008......the You Tube clip gets a lot of hits, and so does the photo that is on Google Earth via the Panoramio website.....
I wouldn't recommend the Aussie crocs either - there is actually yellow warning signs near a lot of our croc-infested streams up in the north showing a figure getting eaten by an illustrated croc to emphasis the danger.......some peanuts still ignore the signs and get eaten, however..........
