I could only remember then river going cry part of this song I watched the HW Sr. movie with george hamilton when I was younger and I have never been able to get this song out of my head ... My family grew up on his music and used to play his tunes .. I miss those long gone days but, thank you so much for the post ... you've made my day!
This recording has made my day - week - year....I have collected Hank Williams recordings for 44 years and this is sure one that eluded me!!! Are the other two songs out there? Thank you so much for sharing!!!!! God bless you!
I remember listing to O'l Hank standing on the floor board and just being able to peek over the dash of my dad's 49 Ford Victoria while traveling along route 66....this is how music sounded back then. It was a very different world and I am sure lucky I was able to experience it first hand. Thanks for the ride Hank.
In the background hollerin' is James H. "Farmer Jim" Neal who was a popular radio personality in Jackson, Mississippi for decades. He was also a lawyer and a member of the Mississippi Legislature for 20 years. (He passed away in November 2006. Hank had come by the radio station, WSLI for an interview and played three songs on Feb. 21, 1950.
This is awesome! Thanks so much for the comment! Farmer Jim was my grandfather. I've been looking for a photograph of this event, with Hank, Farmer Jim and my dad, "Little Jimmy". He would have been just a kid at the time, but he claims to have been there and says pictures were taken by WSLI staff. Can you offer any help? Thanks so much!
Thank You for Your comments. I did not know about any pictures. I'd like to have a copy of those Myself. I do have 2 other songs recorded at & by Farmer Jim and Hank. One of them is Honky Tonkin', and the other is Lost Highway. Farmer Jim and Hank have a nice conversation at the end of the Lost Highway song. Only trouble is the recording is quite scratchy.
I hope someone else can help about the photo's. Thanks for stopping by & have a Great Day :)
I am Jim Neal Jr. Farmer Jim was my father. I became aware of this post thru my son Brad Neal. I would be interested in how you were able obtain the recordings from the live Hank Williams session at WSLI. I would also like to to obtain these materials. The picture my son referred to -- was an 8x10 glossy b&w picture of Hank, My Dad, myself in 1950. It layed around the house for years when I was a child, then it disappeared. Could we exchange emails privately?
I am James H. Neal, Jr. My son Brad dug up this utube account of my father and I enjoyed it to day. All your info is dead on accurate. send me an email. I would like to know more about your background. I am new to youtube. Is there a private way for us to exchange email addresses?

Hank Williams singing at it's very best! What a saint!
You got to have smelt a lot of mule manure before you can sing like a hillbilly." Hank Williams
