  • What a piece of work is a man! how noble in reason! How infinite in faculty! in form and moving how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension; how like... a god... The beauty of the world; the paragon of animals; And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

  • i feel bad for rosencrantz and guildenstern...i mean yeah they spied for the king but they were faithful to hamlet and he indirectly killed them

  • @johandasu If they were truly faithful to Hamlet, they never would have spied on him.

  • what a piece of work is a man....

  • Rosencrantz = Peter Pettigrew XD So cute.

  • Have had the movie for three years and is my Favorite Movie.

  • @nakidaki Why?

  • A very memorable and appropriate way to introduce Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

  • I was totally thown when they announced him as Director of the Thor movie. I honestly did not see it coming. But, it works. . .

  • It's funny how many times he threatened to burn that fucking place down

  • am i mistaken or is this lockhart and wormtail from harry potter?

  • You are not mistaken. It is indeed Lockhart and Wormtail.

  • i had to watch this movie in school. now we are reading the book.

  • does anybody have the whole movie?

  • I ve watched many other versions of Hamlet ,but indeed kenneth Branagh is wonderful ,brilliant ,gorgeous actor.

  • Kenneth Branagh IS Hamlet in this movie; there is no acting.

  • @AyraBella11 So true...

  • This is perfect. An amazing representation of a passionate, tormented, conflicted, wounded prince. I love it.

  • His enthusiasm in this scene? It's perfect. It's meant to look over the top and overacted. It's not Kenneth Branagh being too enthusiastic, it's Hamlet being over enthusiastic. I love it!

  • I think he did an okay job on this scene, but I don't think Hamlet should be overacted. The other Kenneth Branagh movies he did so wonderfully. His words were careful weighed with passion and amazing. Some of these scenes were breathtaking, but others I just felt like he was racing, and he just didn't pull me into the scene like he did in his other movies.

  • how could he be enthusiastic with acting depression? :\

  • haha Rosenstern and Guildencrantz!

  • Kenneth Branagh is absolutely amazing!

  • What a piece a work is this film!

  • Ken is the man

  • hamlet don't trust those bitches

  • Kenneth Branagh is absolutely amazing. Period.

  • Better than Olivier..

  • I think that this version of hamlet is so well done. in england Kenneth Branaugh is directing Hamlet for theatre and Hamlet is going to be played by Jude Law...i'm actually not certain of how well he will do...

The Royal Shakespeare Company is also presenting Hamlet, at nearly if not the same time, the role of Hamlet this time going to David Tennant, and Claudius is Patrick Stewart. i would rather see that one to tell you the truth.

good move, but i think live would be an experience!

  • i dunno...i kinda want to see Jude Law as Hamlet...I also just want to see him period, so i suppose i'm not the most objective judge. what can i say, the man is teh sex.

  • slut.

  • i'm a slut 'cause i think Jude Law is a fine looking guy? well shit, i guess 3/4 of the human population at LEAST is guilty of that.

  • What? i offered my opinion on the physical appearance of a popular celebrity, and that means i can't control sexual "cravings"? You make no sense. by that logic, any guy who'd ever say "oh she's hot" would be a rapist. Expressing your sexuality in a healthy way (yes, even on the "net"), is a far cry away from sexually assault.

and really, don't flatter yourself. even if you were assaulted that would only mean you attract CRAZY girls and wouldn't reflect on your "good" looks at all.

  • maybe someone else reading this (yes, on the "web"), can vouch for me on this, but i never once was hysterical when writing these responses.

i mean geez, just because i'm not some sexually repressed "schoolgirl" and can say when i think a guy is attractive doesn't mean i go around ripping off guys' shirts. i'm actually more introverted than a lot of people.

also stop with the whole "Beatles" comparison about yourself. its annoying.

  • i only mentioned the Beatles because the way you describe your "out of this world" effect on people is lifted from Beatlemania accounts.

and for the record: why can't you just accept the fact that my opinion of you is accurate?

here's why: You don't know me. you formed an image in your head of a sex-starved student based on absolutely nothing. I don't need to be "fashionable" and i certainly don't need to be quiet. the only one with the problems here is you.

  • oh man, is this a joke?

i'm sorry if i missed the sarcasm earlier, but i should have realized there's no one THAT stupid who would be commenting on a Hamlet Clip.

lemme guess, the "I'm just an 'ordinary' person with outstanding intelligence, and astonishing good looks!" is a comment on Branagh's huuuuge ego, right?

  • you write in riddles! despite my profound intellect you've got me stumped!

I haven't got a clue what you are talking about!

i can only assume that you are hitting on me. unfortunately, i am in Moscow right now so any kind of relationship must be put on hold! by the way, what's your favourite colour?

  • Oh, okay...you're not dumb or joking...is English not your first language then?

I mean no offense, its just that that would explain the misunderstanding.

  • no, i am not Russian! why do you presume so? people do leave the uk to work you know!

you never told me your favourite colour!

  • um, i just guessed you might've not grown up speaking english because it would explain how all this resulted because i called Jude Law "teh sex" and you assumed that meant i'm a rapist. or something. i'm not 100% sure how this started.

but if thats not why, then i guess the only other explanation is that you're crazy.

  • mike moscow you are a fucking idiot that harrased this woman for expressing sexual attraction, on top of that your posts have demonstrated your astonishing stupidity, obnoxiousnes and i am quite willing to bet your as ugly as a roach.

  • I dunno..all I see in him is Gilderoy Lockhart. :D

  • thats okay....when i heard Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, a part of me was a bit dissapointed to not see Tim Roth and Gary Oldman...

  • can someone PLEASE post scene act 1 scene 2, when everyone's gathered in the hall of state and it ends with those white petals falling from the ceiling? i love that bit.

  • Undoubting the genius Olivier brought to the role, I can't help but feel Branagh took it one step further. Noone IMO can make shakespeare as alive as he. Truely an amazing film.

  • beautiful. i've studied shakespeare and seen all other film adaptations of hamlet except this one. superb productions values and excellent interpretation of the text

  • The best version of Hamlet i have ever seen. No other actor has captured Hamlets character as fully as Kenneth Branagh imo. No other version have i felt as i have felt watching this one and no other version have i shed as many tears over. Truly great work from a great actor!

  • Well thanks for telling us all this supposed 'fact'.

  • I'm afraid i can not be so eloquent.

    WRONG, WRONG, YOU'RE WR00000*up an octive*00ng.

    wrooooo00000OOOOONG!!!! jaha7979

  • lol, like the Doctor Cox thing:

"Wrong wrong wrong wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrong! You're wrong! you're wrong! You're wrong!"

  • jaha7979 Kenneth Branagh is one of the most if not the best actor of this century and the last. You have obviously not grasped his amazing acting skills and outstanding award winning performances and directing...

  • this is shakespeare trully i like this scene soooooooo much but i have some problems with the understanding because im german :-) very hard english!!!!

  • Many native english speakers have difficulty with Shakespeare as well...

  • in germany it is quite the same with the german translation :-D although the translation is actually good.

    tz tz tz :-)

  • thank you for posting this, a thousand kisses.

  • oh, my, this is wonderfull...

  • I love what Hamlet says here, I love that. Hamlet express the sadness of his depression, it´s so so real. No matter if you live in a palace, in the most happy place on earth, you can feel like in a jail.

I agree, it´s the best Hamlet movie, well, Mel Gibson Hamlet is more Hollywood, is good as well. But I have seen other Hamlets, even shorters, and they are soooo boring.

  • No other film version of Hamlet even comes close to this one. Mel Gibson's was a joke. I walked out of that one when it came to the theater.

  • Well, perhaps I need to watch Mel Gibson´s Hamlet again to have a better opinion.

I saw it many years ago. XD

    But certainly I agree.

  • Can't wait til i get the dvd, when i can finally make videos of Hamlet!!! =]

  • the greatest Hamlet since Sir Laurence Olivier. LOVE him.

  • Branagh's just excellent here. He gives real life to Shakespeare's words.thanks for posting this!

  • I agree...milovy should post more scenes from this wonderful film, particularly First Player's (Academy Award winner Charlton Heston) Speech. It's another powerful scene from this great film of Kenneth Branagh, his Shakespearean masterpiece.
