@Liked, all I know is that I have a great appreciation for a large array of artists, Dylan, Hendrix, big bands like Pink Floyd et cetera but I can only compare them amongst themselfs, as Prince tbh makes them seem entirely one dimensional, Prince can only be compared with Prince. More difficult comparing him I guess to the masters of Jazz like Thelonius Monk, Ellington, and a once friend of Prince Miles Davis to name a few but what Miles even say about Prince, that no-one can touch him/
To anyone who doesn't get it, he changes the lyrics to give the song a deeper meaning.
"I wish you were special, cuz I think you're special" that line alone says it all.
It goes from being a simple love song that is self-deprecating into a complex song about building up someone else who insists on tearing themselves down.
Planet Earth has been turning on it's axis for around 4.55 billion years. In that time, has there ever been a musical artist with more talent? Mozart? lol
wow, i'm not a prince fan, but he sounds like an asshole... playing a song that's NOT his and then asking Youtube to take it down, despite the band that OWNS the song said leave it... its like me moving into someones house against their will and saying "get out of my house!" and the story i heard from "An Evening with Kevin Smith"
I remember when Prince had a fit about this being recorded & wanted it taken down. But Thom Yorke responded by saying, "Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our song."
Prince is the G.O.A.T of the musiq industry.. Look him up and not his greatest hits. I mean really do some homework " the LA 3" " montreux" "copenhagen(am) " the work" volumes... Then u will understand. Peace and B wild!!
There's something about the 2 chords after "I don't belong here" that makes white people cum immediately. Myself included. Thanks Prince, for this amazing cover.
I love this song and it brings me to tears - no i don't particularly like Radiohead...but the day my sister committed suicide, and I had to leave her apartment - with her behind in the morbid care of the Seattle Coroner's office - I got into my car, with my then 2 year old son - who had NO idea obviously of what was going on - and this song came on.
It is so hard for me to listen to it...but this makes it a little more bearable - my sister adored Prince. . .
@jaemoon2 it is not an easy road. it's been 18 years. . . he the Purple One...was her favorite. We saw him on Valentine's Day - in the front row, he was singing - 'Baby I'm A Star' and uttered WHOO - looked straight at us and THREW HIS TAMBOURINE at my sister. She caught it. We buried her with it. I love him so much. . . he makes life bearable when it gets too close.
Public schmublic! ha. I am the only me I know how to be. This is part of it. Thanks for listening.....
I think every member of Radiohead would concur with me when I say that this kicks the living shit out of the original - it's like the song stopped being a stroppy teenager, grew wings, and began radiating ten miles above the Earth
Incredible. This and the RR hall of fame performance are classic, hit the ball out of the park performances. The guitar solo at the end always gives me chills.
@dtongamusic I think it was pore to do with their whole sharing music policy. Apparently Thom was like "tell him to put it back him up, it's our song"
start was ok, but great ending. I like the fact that he changed things around, it made the performance more interesting. look at any good cover, and youll see that its different from the original (sometimes drastically). i still like the original more, but im glad i didnt hear a carbon copy of it just now.
I was actually there for this. I cant say I like it, it messes horribly with the original and seems a bit pretentious and disrespectful to Radiohead, especially changing the lyrics. On the plus side, his guitar is amazing. Its the only saving grace here.
@Helios601 You are correct about him being the all time greatest musical artist. People argue that Michael Jackson was far superior to Prince. MJ could sing and dance and was a stellar entertainer. However, Prince was also a great singer and dancer...but he also composed, arranged, produced AND performed all of his music. Talentwise, he is a genius...MJ cannot hold a candle to Prince.
@arubisx they both are great no doubt but are in totally different class got to love them both michael is the best..prince is the best to me they are incomparable but you are right prince is a genius, i love both of them, love prince for his musicianship and all..
@nockanoo62 Agreed. And its not just the sound. The sound alone is mind-blowing. Its his sound combined with his style that lets you know Prince is in his own Universe.
I normally dig Prince, well from late '70s-early '90s at least, but I'm not keen on the changes to the chord timing in this version, I just don't like it as much as Radiohead's original.......and how dare he try to get this taken off YT when it isn't even his song......cheeky fucker.......
@Nintendog140 Not good enough. Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Famous people, like Mr. Rogers Nelson, surround themselves with far too many "yes" men and aren't used to the words "no you can't" or "no you shouldn't".....I mean I LOVE Prince for the most part - a HUGE musical influence on me, but he can be a right tosspot megalomaniac sometimes and the " Creep" cover video controversy confirms this. I don't get all this over-worship - Prince IS human and does get it wrong sometimes.
@Nintendog140 And you are perfectly right to have your own opinion, as am I having my own point of view. We'll just have to agree to disagree. It's called being adult.I still love Prince at his best you know, the man is a music powerhouse but I don't think the sun shines out of his arse. We're ALL flawed somewhere down the line.......

he completely flips the song on its head
just makes it the best love song ever
for half the song it sounds like he's trashing the girl, and then all of a sudden at 4:21 he just flips the song on its head in one line.
what a fucking genius.

i was totally blown away by his solo till i saw him take his hand off the guitar at 5:11.

@EvilKris Are you saying that it's not him playing? It's common to be able to play a note with one hand if you are using sustain.
MrElectric99 2 months ago in playlist Favorite videos 6
@EvilKris really? you cant conceive that his hand leaving (by the way it was only 1 hand) the guitar makes the solo not authentic, really?
