The "achievments" offered in games are not real awards, as they make no difference in the game. They are hardly a "feature" They are just a cheap tactic by the designers to get gamers to play the game more addictively and repetitively with no real benefit to the gameplay experience. It's a basic psychological techique they are using to get you to play more for no reason.
It's strange that everyone seems to be falling for it and doing everything they can to get every meaningless "achievment."

Also I don't see what the big deal is...Really when you think about it..Consoles and computers all have their pros and cons. For example on 360 and ps3 you can now get achievements/trophies..it gives you an award for doing something in game. However computers have MMO's. In my honest opinion..computers and consoles are even. They're good and bad in their own ways. Just get over yourselves.

I agree that consoles are better for gaming when it comes to cost. As i bought a computer for $2300 last year and it runs Direct X 9 and now there is DX11 out and frankly that means buying new hardware which sucks for people with no money. but i wouldn't give up PC's for anything.
You got ripped off my sir. Last year I got my pc through putting together parts I bought off of craigs list for about $500 and it runs All dx10 games max settings with AA and AF at 1600x1200, I'm sure I could go higher, but my monitor only goes up to that resolution. This is all on dx10...

@illuminatijews The Xbox 360 is running on a card equivalent in power to an NVIDIA 7800 gt. I know right, that sounds like it sucks! But they do look identical. Some games like Crysis were only released for PC, but that doesn't mean consoles can't run them. Crysis 2 is coming out, as you know, for consoles as well and will have the best graphics yet (I'm assuming. Crytek delivers). I used to be one to say PCs were the only way to go, and I have a gaming computer from a year ago, but... (1 sec).

A console is mainly build to play games, and therefore doesn't have to worry about much operating system things, and therefore does not need hardware updates as much as desktops or laptops do. So though the Xbox 360's hardware IS almost 5 years old, it has the stamina to progress since it does not need to deal with as many software things. So... (Last comment)
@illuminatijews That is why I think consoles are just as equal to computers when it comes to the same game being played on both. As far as graphics go. Because you buy a computer at a certain level, and it will always play at that level. But for consoles, developers are learning how to program more efficiently each year, so when a game comes out for PC and a console, it comes out at the same graphical level. And at the end of the day, a console will last years that a PC will not.

Efficient programming is not going to make that much of a difference. It takes large amounts of memory for games to reach 1980 + resolutions. Also, with things like " physx " and " DX11", cards need Vram and all those stream processors. You are trying to justify Console gaming as being better, and its all a matter of opinion. But, PC graphics are clearly more advanced, and look better to say the least.
@illuminatijews It will make that much of a difference. Do a visual comparison of Dead Rising and Crysis 2. Crysis 2 will be running DX 11 and PhysX and will be running on the 360. Programming is all that is needed for console hardware. They don't run on PC pieces. Their structure is different. In 8 years from now, graphics on games today will look like garbage! Those games to come out 8 years from now will be running on advanced PCs.... and today's consoles. So the hardware is there.
@GeekingForJesus oh my bad the ps3 does have a nvidia GPU, the xbox did to keep prices down so i assumed they did for ps3 aswell but then i remembered sony make a huge loss on every ps3 so i thought id double check and the ps3 has a custom made gpu that no-one ever heard of but it is by nvidia.
@GeekingForJesus You're vastly overrating what can be done on existing hardware. There's only so much that can be done on the software side until you run into a brick wall of hardware limitations. Every time a game comes out that pushes the bar in console visuals with more efficient use of the hardware, we get ever closer to that brick wall. If you're expecting much more out of the 360/PS3, you're kidding yourself. We've seen 99% of what they can do already.
@atthecabin No we haven't. The 360/PS3 will progress for another 6-8 years. Graphically. They've done it for the past 4, and analysts say they will do it for another 8. Next year people will say the same thing you are, and the year after that, and after that. I used to think like you until I realized that there is no "gaming PC" from 5 years ago that is still working top notch today. Consoles are. I guess the only way for you to see is to see it step by step over the next 8 years.

the games great, dx 11 running on 5850 on max is beautiful but the one this is about the game the campains are not long like 5 missings for aliens and 6 for preditor and humans(Marins) however the online aspect is really fun and compettetive. i believe it will not last long as many better shooters people would ranther play e.i crysis warhead or just plain crysis.

Between my girlfriend and I we have all of the consoles, and we each have our own power house gaming pc's, and we still enjoy playing our wii, even though the graphics aren't as good. Sometimes though, you just wanna play Crysis, or Metal Gear Solid, or Fable. See they all have great games and capabilities. Just play and be happy you live in this great new age of video game advancements.

PC is always the best...can handle anything out there! Crysis 3...is a console game...they had to downgrade the engine for the consoles to even handle it!...Guess what, consoles are made from PC parts...games are created by the PC, PC can handle up to 256 players on 1 server. I would rather spend a lot of money to buy a rigged PC that will last for another 10 years, instead of buying a 360 that WILL ALWAYS BURN OUT. and you will probably spend much more than the PC on live and repairing the 360.
just to tell you the ps3 can handle 256 players on 1 server now as well. I think both are great. Consoles are for fps's and casual gaming whereas the pc is for RTS, mmo, rpg, and more hardcore gaming. Of course games are created on the pc. you can't program on a console very well and they don't have paint or 3d modeling software and other stuff like that.
Consoles are just easier to use, cheaper to make and games are easier to create for it as you do not need to innovate. Also the amount of players having a console is superior to pc.
I can play my games with my PC on my bedroom or living room TVs which looks awesome. I usually use a Samsung monitor as it looks better. My PC is always going to be better for gaming than my 360 (indeed the 360 has been in the cupboard where it lives since about a week after I bought it ) I see console for people who only game a little bit between hollywood action movies, hence the games mainly have shorter duration and instant gratification. A Different price range for a different audience.
Dude if the demo is dx 9 I would drop dead. I just watched this vid in hd and I just played the demo I can not tell the diff between my screen shots and this video and I don't have a dx 11 card. Game looks amazing but dx 11 seems like small leap.
I found the game to be quite boring. The game looks good on DirectX 11, I'll give it that. But on the consoles, it looks dull, has that Doom 3 lighting problem where everything is dark and your flashlight is on the last bit of a D-battery, and the flamethrower for the Marines is weak as fuck.
...Then again I used the Marines once and (I GOT SECOND PLACE SO SHUT UP) uninstalled the demo so I guess I never gave it a fair chance.

thats decause the demo is directx 9 while the full game is directx 11 and the demo is a year old but they just released it and there going to fix the flamethrower in the full game
the demo only support directx 9 how do you know it looks good on directx 11 if you only played the demo and uninstalled it... and the videos on youtube testing directx11 is not even close to you playing AvP with Directx11

I agree that consoles are better for gaming when it comes to cost. As i bought a computer for $2300 last year and it runs Direct X 9 and now there is DX11 out and frankly that means buying new hardware which sucks for people with no money. but i wouldn't give up PC's for anything.

The power is already there. It is up to the developers to learn how to further build on the current consoles. @illuminatijews The Xbox 360 is running on a card equivalent in power to an NVIDIA 7800 gt. I know right, that sounds like it sucks! But they do look identical. Some games like Crysis were only released for PC, but that doesn't mean consoles can't run them. Crysis 2 is coming out, as you know, for consoles as well and will have the best graphics yet (I'm assuming. Crytek delivers). I used to be one to say PCs were the only way to go, and I have a gaming computer from a year ago, but... (1 sec).

A console is mainly build to play games, and therefore doesn't have to worry about much operating system things, and therefore does not need hardware updates as much as desktops or laptops do. So though the Xbox 360's hardware IS almost 5 years old, it has the stamina to progress since it does not need to deal with as many software things. So... (Last comment)

Because you buy a computer at a certain level, and it will always play at that level. But for consoles, developers are learning how to program more efficiently each year, so when a game comes out for PC and a console, it comes out at the same graphical level. And at the end of the day, a console will last years that a PC will not.

Efficient programming is not going to make that much of a difference. It takes large amounts of memory for games to reach 1980 + resolutions. Also, with things like " physx " and " DX11", cards need Vram and all those stream processors. You are trying to justify Console gaming as being better, and its all a matter of opinion. But, PC graphics are clearly more advanced, and look better to say the least.

@illuminatijews It will make that much of a difference. Do a visual comparison of Dead Rising and Crysis 2. Crysis 2 will be running DX 11 and PhysX and will be running on the 360. Programming is all that is needed for console hardware. They don't run on PC pieces. Their structure is different. In 8 years from now, graphics on games today will look like garbage! Those games to come out 8 years from now will be running on advanced PCs.... and today's consoles. So the hardware is there.

@GeekingForJesus You're vastly overrating what can be done on existing hardware. There's only so much that can be done on the software side until you run into a brick wall of hardware limitations. Every time a game comes out that pushes the bar in console visuals with more efficient use of the hardware, we get ever closer to that brick wall. If you're expecting much more out of the 360/PS3, you're kidding yourself. We've seen 99% of what they can do already.

the games great, dx 11 running on 5850 on max is beautiful but the one this is about the game the campains are not long like 5 missings for aliens and 6 for preditor and humans(Marins) however the online aspect is really fun and compettetive. i believe it will not last long as many better shooters people would ranther play e.i crysis warhead or just plain crysis.

Between my girlfriend and I we have all of the consoles, and we each have our own power house gaming pc's, and we still enjoy playing our wii, even though the graphics aren't as good. Sometimes though, you just wanna play Crysis, or Metal Gear Solid, or Fable. See they all have great games and capabilities. Crysis 3...is a console game...they had to downgrade the engine for the consoles to even handle it!...Guess what, consoles are made from PC parts...games are created by the PC, PC can handle up to 256 players on 1 server. I would rather spend a lot of money to buy a rigged PC that will last for another 10 years, instead of buying a 360 that WILL ALWAYS BURN OUT. and you will probably spend much more than the PC on live and repairing the 360.

just to tell you the ps3 can handle 256 players on 1 server now as well. I think both are great. Consoles are for fps's and casual gaming whereas the pc is for RTS, mmo, rpg, and more hardcore gaming. Of course games are created on the pc. you can't program on a console very well and they don't have paint or 3d modeling software and other stuff like that.

I can play my games with my PC on my bedroom or living room TVs which looks awesome. I usually use a Samsung monitor as it looks better. My PC is always going to be better for gaming than my 360 (indeed the 360 has been in the cupboard where it lives since about a week after I bought it ) I see console for people who only game a little bit between hollywood action movies, hence the games mainly have shorter duration and instant gratification. A Different price range for a different audience.

I found the game to be quite boring. The game looks good on DirectX 11, I'll give it that. But on the consoles, it looks dull, has that Doom 3 lighting problem where everything is dark and your flashlight is on the last bit of a D-battery, and the flamethrower for the Marines is weak as fuck.
...Then again I used the Marines once and (I GOT SECOND PLACE SO SHUT UP) uninstalled the demo so I guess I never gave it a fair chance.
