I think as the economy gets worse those who run and control the system will find more reason to lock people up and or keep them in prison for an even longer time........we have a criminal system that is run by criminals......criminals are running the government.
It's funny how they lock people up in a rape and torture dungeon as a means of "helping" them with their drug problems. That's like AA locking alchoholics in a basement full of murderers and rapists, then letting them out in a few years and saying, "So. Now that you've been raped repeatedly and had your face beaten beyond recognition, I bet the last thing you do with your freedom is drink yourself into oblivion!" But they want slaves they get payed to own, not to actually help people.
What liberal nonsense. Jails are not so rapists can talk about their feelings & why their rape was a bad way to express themselves. It's to punish people so that they never do that shit again!
@Mrpastry909 Here is what I agree on Mark for: We shouldn't limit to prisons alone. From someone whom which I heard, if you came out of prison, would you get a job an be a normal citizen or would you get the person who imprisoned you?
@Jbanto If you hack madly at weeds, they just come back. You have to remove the ROOT CAUSE which is The Monetary/Price System. There is no lack of resources, Poor ppl just have lack of Purchasing Power. Punitive measures just harden criminals. If it worked, we wouldn't have all these crimes? Google Zeitgeist Addendum or Peter Joseph, Social Pathology or read Violence by James Gilligan for more on this. Prison is FOR PROFIT now, not rehabilitation or protection. 45% are in 4 drugs alone!
Outsourcing prisons to the private sector is just another one in a long line of bad ideas made in America. In addition to the draconian drug laws. Which is another contributing factor into why the "land of the free" has the highest incarceration rate on the planet. I guess I will never understand the logic surrounding the notion that we have to lock up non violent drug offenders..
We have to imprison are people because this is the land of the free. A poor person can go to jail for stealing a lollipop. But a c.e.o. con rob tens of millions and destroy thousands of families. And that's OK.

sargeant99 3 years ago
absolutely. I am involved with prison ministry and a big promoter of restorative justice which would decrease our prison population.

@jburk97035 What people don't see is that our country is more religious than many countries with less people locked up.
