  • i guess the idiots behind this idea werent as smarty as they thought they were

  • poor thing at least it is salvageable well after you spend 50,000+ restoring it.

  • just a little bit of a buff out she will be as right as rain

  • At least they didn't bury a 57 Chevrolet

  • Should have just left it in a field! What a waste of time!

  • if they just parked it out in the car park it would be in better condition.....jeez it's only 50 years!!

    epic fail

  • Stupid Okies

  • Funny that they've pulled stuff out off the ocean in better condition

  • hahahahaha

    I like it.

  • this is going down as one of the dumbest things done to a car in history~!

  • well ur dad fucked it up should have used a steel vault!!! or something thick

  • God I hope I am alive in 2048!

  • so wend they are going to restore it like new?

  • @luisfj9 They won't be, from what I read. All they did was stop the rust process and remove all possible rust with a special solution... Too bad eh? I wish they would restore her....

  • what a waist.. bet it smells awesome too..... NOT!

  • Christine needs to give that car regeneration

  • Life lesson... really make an effort to preserve your 'time capsule' contents. Maybe getting a car wax company or a storage company/mortuary to sponsor the event?

  • I wonder what that thing smelled like?

  • @low72 rotting shit

  • Stop denying it, you dad FAILED.

  • Exactly why did they put it underground? Why not lock it in a box indoors ABOVE ground where theres NO water

  • Worst looking 0 mileage car Ive ever seen....

  • @SavageSS2010 It has 4 miles on it.

  • they should do this now with a car with a 100,000 mile warenty an dig that bitch up an send it back to the dealership

  • just like the American Dream: old, rusty, out of style and fake.hahahahahahahh

  • @huevon1979 Probably if we had buried all the crap that we've imported, still built our own cars and everything else, we'd still have that old American Dream that died along when this car was buried! I guess this car & America have a lot in common?

  • @huevon1979 go to hell jerk America ROCKS!

  • Awsome

  • they are so stupids:D

  • FIN American ALways F it up :(

  • what a waste, surely this deterioration can't be symbolic of something larger?

  • What a waste, totally unrestorable. Is it in some museum, or did they tow it straight off to the scrap yard?

  • i wounder if anyone lost their virginity in that old car lol

  • id laugh if there was a body in the trunk

  • Original color was white over gold!

  • we should bury an enzo...:P

  • @stephos21 maybe with your mom together

  • @nissanrb25dett wow..an ape on youtube....

  • @stephos21 thats true....you scum sucking maggot

  • i wish we knew what the original paint looked like

  • @treyguy721 it was gold with white trim

  • @treyguy721

someone said it was light blue?

  • its a shame that the car was improperly sealed. shit happens!

  • take the car and born it its all rusted out, get a new Honda civic

  • @masterlee123 man, someone who compares a 57 belvedere with a honda civic must really be on some serious crack...even in this condition the 57 plymouth makes the honda shittic look like a little shitbox.

  • @frequencydude Ok, you keep that rust bucket Belvedere which is like100 years old, I'll take the honda civic. You the one on crack. Im 16y old I like new things and the coolest car for us is the civics si, wrx, m3, speed3, cars like that.

  • @masterlee123 yea its old, the very reason its so great a car. it was built when they actually made real cars. they stopped makin great cars a long time ago bud. what they call cars today is an insult. made with materials like the scrap they would have thrown away after makin this belvedere. its incredable that you people buy that shit and call em nice... bury your civic in the ground for 50 years and youd have to scoop it out with shovels...i wouldnt waste fresh paint on a honda shitic dude.

  • @frequencydude I really dont know what you guys see on those cars from the 50- they are old and BIG and to heavy and the style is crazy its way to out there. I gess the Honda civic and Accord and cars like that from japan will be our gen car that we look back to maney years from now and call them our classic cars. And let me tell you something, You can put a civic were the belvedere was for 50 years and the civic will be rust free.

  • @masterlee123 how do you figure that? i see these hondas that are ten years old rusting/falling apart. these oldies are still solid after fifty years, (without any rustproofing) such as like your honda shitic is.

  • @masterlee123 , That is psycho babble!

  • @masterlee123 Cars like Honda Civics will never be considered classics like this Belvedere. I'm the same age as you and I think our gen cars, especially cars like Civics, are not built near as well as they used to be and will all be crushed in 10 years.

  • @masterlee123 Your smoking crack. Metal is metal, 50 years in water and your honda will be as dead as that Plymouth is.

  • they should bury a 2009 corvette ZR-1 and store it ABOVE GROUND and open it up in 50 years.

  • They would have probably had better results just letting it sit outside for 50 years!

  • @jdgator95 hahaha!!!!!!! probably right

  • I don't believe those okies were thinking much about the possibility of water getting to the car, they were worried about a bomb or bombs blowing them and her to kingdom come, so they made sure that the vault or tomb or whatever u want to call it was strong enough to withstand bomb blasts. Water seepage was secondary.........

  • didn't they have Tupperware or zip-lock type bags back then? I know they had mason jars. If they were going through the trouble of digging a hole to bury a beatiful car you would think they would have thought of making sure the car was completely sealed before putting it into what was an early grave rather than a time capsule.

  • @supershy13079 i think youre reading too deaply into it man, for one in 1957 that wasnt the beautiful classic it is today it was just another plymouth off the lot, and for two i dont think anyone that did this truly thought in 50 years they'd dig up a chery 57 plymouth, im sure it was more of a 'hey lets see how this turns out' promotional kinda deal

  • The engineer said "store it above ground"...Listen to the engineer!

  • I think its cool how people are emotional about Miss Belvedere. She was produced in a more simpler time when almost everything a person could buy was made in the U.S.A. and that is how it should be now.

  • @bwild61 i agree totally.

  • Ditto! I love these cars!

  • This clip make me soo sad! Damn you people, that car was the most beautiful car from all time.

  • lol these ppl r dum why do they keep puting cars underground its going to leak eventuly

  • Someone explain me what the heck is all this about burying a car and trying to dig it out 50 years later? What does that have to do with Tulsa?

  • The "time capsule" was part of the TULSARAMA celebration in 1957. Watch Part One of this video from the same member and you will see the backstory.

  • Did it not occur to anyone that UNDERGROUND there might be WATER?? What a failure.

  • @Theriomalstrom lol, no shit. I guess they had a major brainfart....

  • @Theriomalstrom No, they just didn't know that concrete is not a water barrier. Same reason the concrete walls of basements can have water seapage.

  • Miss Belvedere is NOT the "most famous Belvedere in history"... I would bet you dollars to donuts that if you asked ANYONE on the street what the most famous Belvedere in history was... they'd more than likely say the 1958 from the movie 'Christine'. Which, by the way, the movie called a Fury, but was, in fact NOT a Fury. It was Belvedere trim. Not Fury trim. But it's their movie so i guess they can call it anything they want. LOL Besides, it just wouldn't have been demonic if not a Fury.

  • great video. but i can't believe how sentimental people are over the car. "i thought it was going to be in perfect shape, i have tears in my eyes." the car looks like shit, and after 50 years under dirt, it doesn't surprise me.

  • Its not because the car was ruined, but how dissapointed everyone was on how great the car WOULD have been if it wasent flooded.

  • who are the 3 girls sittin on the hood of the car it was at like 4 soemthin the old pics form b4 the car was put in the ground

  • is this in a museam?

  • i have tears in my eyes, what a nice moment

  • when u said miss belvedere it the most famous belvedere in history i wa like what about christine and then i rembered christine is a 58 fury

  • the most famous of all belvederes is?? anyone?? you guessed it T.V.s MR. Belvedere, what a grat show that was.

  • At 4:13, the sign on the car before its burial reads, "Suddenly it's 2,007!" That's because the ad slogan for the '57 Plymouths was "Suddenly, it's 1960!" - meaning that the Plymouth was so new and ahead of its time it was as if it was a 1960 model.

Notice that the idea of a year starting with "20" was so odd that the sign painter put in a comma.

  • she cant be that bad the tires still hold air!! i would buy it, its a new car!!

  • i bet after all the years in the hole it still have that new car smell!! lol

  • why would u wanna bury a classic

  • they didnt bury a classic, they dug up one

  • What music are they playing when the cover are being lifted off? that 50's song?

  • oh my god thats EARTH ANGEL havent u heard of it before.....did u see back to the future pt.2 i think whn marty goes to the 50s an meets his mom. they played that at he prom lol

  • bactk to the future #1

  • They should take ol' boyd coddington's rusty arse and put it behind the wheel of the belvy, then bury the whole thing again till 2049!

  • they will see nothing but dust! lol

  • Yep....bury your car in red clay & this is what you get.

  • Man!! I love shit like this!! We need to bury a new Vette the right way, so that in fifty years they can open the casque and fire that bitch up!!!

  • That was pretty forward thinking back in 1957. Look at it this way, they even put jars of gas in the trunk, just in case there wasn't any in 2007. It really shows the attitude of people in 1957... to them, it was just a car in a "bomb-proof" capsule. The comments here alone are proof that they picked the right car! There's enough '57 Belvederes out there... this one is the only one that's truly 1957 in, and of itself.

  • That old car was eaten alive.

  • omfg look at the tires they s are still holding presure!!!!

  • fuck what a waste of a pretty car damn

  • That would have been so awesome had it worked out as planned. Such a pity! But man, people in Tulsa must be so bored to make such a big deal out of it.

  • Yawl aint never herd a no climate change, ga gick.

  • my hats off to tulsa! this was the coolest time capsule ever too bad it didnt work one thing is for sure this is how NOT to store a car

  • Better get a tetanus shot before handling that car! lol

  • They should have had Foose walk up on the other side.. Boyd would have left..

  • Thats what i call....A WASTE OF A CAR! LOL.

  • stupid
