  • I was borna Metallica fan before Metallica was even a band, and I'm here to tell you....THIS is an AWESOME album! Classical music, when done correctly, could fit into a whole lot more music than it ever has, and this is a perfect example.....when you use the right tools to get the job done, you make everyone look good, and you please them. I wish more bands would try this out, I mean, after all, didn't modern music get its' roots with classical symphonies? I believe it did. Beethoven, anyone?

  • My stupid friend just told me " I thought Metallica were four in their group o.O " -_____-

  • this should have been GLADIATOR soundtrack!

  • epic!

  • where is the "show NO comments button"?

  • i love this song with or without the orchesta!! i love the sound of the guitar is so lovely! and the voice of james!!! love it!!!

  • The autotuning on this album can die in a fire. Ruined the whole thing.

  • @fl0nk11 what autotuning?

  • @Intuitivedesigning It's when they take the vocal tracks and run them through a computer program that makes everything be exactly on key. It sounds like a robot singing to me, and I can't stand it. Takes all the human element right out of it.

  • @fl0nk11 I was not aware that metallica used autotuning. are you sure they did?

  • @Intuitivedesigning Absolutely. It's easy to hear on this album, particularly.

  • @fl0nk11 It's cause it's live. Not too bad, but everybody does it a bit

  • Chills

  • played this to someone who couldnt stand metallica once. He came into school next day singing it XD i think i converted him lol

  • The album version was already awesome... but this is MAGIC.

  • Goosebumps!!!!!! Lars, Lars you are the best

  • 10 People have no mother

  • 10 dislikes, who the fuck can dislike this jesus people what the hell

  • yes they are!

  • reminds me of my ex heaths:)

  • only Metallica can pull of Rock w orchestra! ;) they rock! studio & live the Millenium bash w/ Q106 in Michigan was awsome!

  • @chelefisher814

But MANY bands have pulled off rock with an orchestra, so nothing new there,

HOWEVER, only Metallica can pull of METAL W/ ORCHESTRA !!!

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • Can Metallica be a religion?

  • @luksha666 DAMM RIGHT!

  • @luksha666 yes it can, and it is !!

  • @luksha666 in facebook search in religion metallica and have

  • the fucking drums are insane!

  • i am brasilian i love hero of the day metallica the best band

  • i just fell in love with james' voice, really fuckin cool

  • This song pisses excellence.

  • this is easily the stand out song from S&M, I love the album but I feel at times that the orchestra does unnecessary things, the arrangement behind this works perfect

  • i love this song so much its going to be played at my funeral <3

  • This band rocks!! Always has, Always will!! The Orchestra meshed wonderfully with Metallica. This S & M album is the best music out there. Band is awesome, completely awesome!!! James Hetfield has the most extraordinary voice! It's strong, heavy and moving. He could sing me to to sleep EVERY night!! lol Who am I kidding?? I couldn't sleep if JAMES was beside me?? I would be all over his fine ass! <3 I love you, Hetfield.....FOREVER!!!!!!!

  • Metallica still kick more ass than any modern day music.............Here's to another 30 years of Metallica

  • This song is made for S&M! Seriously! :D

  • epic song

  • 9 people havent found the hero of the day

  • 9 people will be kicked by chuck norris

  • Fantastic....I like this more than the original!

  • Love this album and this song. Not the best Ive perform live but a Metallica fan since the mid 80's. And it's orchestra

  • Epic!

  • the best album ever! nobody but metallica would think of rock and classical music together....that is why they are the best.

  • @MrChamp2684 Actually Metallica got the inspiration to do this from Deep Purple, who did the same thing about 30 years before. Metallica did it significantly heavier, but that's to be expected after 30 years of metal evolution. Check out Deep Purple's Concerto for Group and Orchestra to see what I mean.

  • @Dillard89 watched it dude..u rock..

  • @Dillard89actually metallica got the idea from cliff because he loved classical music and always wanted to put the two together so thats why metallica finally decided to give it a try

  • love Metallica and everthing they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • perfect metallica song for symphonic orchestra, my favorite

  • omg, that opening gives me goosebumps- my favorite s&m song has always been noleaf clover, and i am adding this to the list. i hope metallica stays alive and healthy and together for many decades to come. they will 4ever hold a very special place n my heart and n the words of the illustrious ozzie osbourne, I DON'T WANNA STOP!!

  • @whiteboundry

    ozzy*

  • Qur temazo !!!

  • @sodbuster09 i agree nobody could ever top them and hell i dont know if they can top this album

  • S&M, Holy shit, great album thing :D

  • HELL YEAH TRUMPET AT 2:27!!!!

  • @Shadowbunnyjedi i meant 4:27

  • i have been a metallic fan all of my life and this one of the best songs they ever did!

  • 8 villians of the day.

  • James Voice has certainly improved wen it comes to songs like this but, does anyone else think the singing lesions he took in a way kinda wrecked the harder/thrashier songs the band does? Ever heard him try and 'Sing" Battery ?

Not knocking him, dude has improved in leaps and bounds , just sometimes with some songs i catch him singing when yelling/grunting/screaming is in order.

He doesnt do it all the time, just every now and then.

  • @Antifaith29 why did he take singing lessons?

  • @TigerEye503 I dunno, maybe because he's a singer in a band? Hard to understand i know.

  • @TigerEye503 he took them cause he blew his voice out and had to learn how to properly sing

  • @Antifaith29 His voice isn't what it used to be, but he could only do it like he used to for so long. Singing with your throat catches up to you with age. And blowing out the voice the first time probably will encourage anyone to try different technique. He's still one of the greatest frontmen ever.

  • James voice is auto-tuning =D

  • this song was made for this version

  • even thou shredding is f-ing cool

  • 8 people are gypsies : D

  • James' voice sounds so amazing in this concert!

  • i turned this up high

  • I fucking LOVE this song! Metallica are beastly in all aspects of music. Not to mention they put on a fucking ripper of a live show \m/

  • metal and symphony are great together, simply amazing sound, Nightwish also uses both to produce a great sound

  • I remember this time. This is the best album and song.

  • @oiroot1980 what, Load? Was good, but I wouldnt call it the best, i mean, dont get me wrong, this song is epic, probably best on the album, but i personally would elect And Justice for All for best album, it almost won an... oscar? (i dont know trophies) but the point is the song One has the most meaning behind it of all the Metallica Songs. (Note that i dont count S&M and Garage Inc. in my thinking because theyre covers and rehashes, otherwise I wouldve said S&M is the best album.

  • bam talent BAM talent Bam talent talent everywhere god damnit

  • I absolutely loved this album. I played orchestra for several years and the San Francisco Symphony perfectly complimented the music of Metallica.

  • It sounds like james really wants to sing faster.

  • @tankbuster101 it really does!!!

  • Fuck Mikey Cyrus! (I would, actually. lol) THIS is the best of both worlds!

  • @ItsMetalOrItsCrap and Fuck Micckey Mouse too!

  • love this song!!

  • this song motivates me like no other song out there. I get chills when i hear this. i love it!

  • 2:58 - far left row, looks like the late great pavarotti

  • one of my favorite on the album...

  • this was voted top 1 song in year 1996 in finland

  • using the guitar kirk james

  • this is metallica's best work and will always be.

  • I'm more of a punk rock fan. But, I do have to admit that this album is really one of the greatest works I've ever heard. Raw emotion mixed in with melody and instrumental beauty, fucking epic in my opinion.

  • 3:00 chick in the red shirt...jiggle, jiggle hahahaha

  • this is my fav..... i got to admit it... just great...

  • This is my fave Metallica album. This version of this song has more power behind it that on Load.

  • 8 people missed like button

  • @biohazardboy95 You had me in tears with that comment.

  • Top ten song of all time all genres.

  • this song has put life in perspective for many people in this world including me

  • @MrMusick65 LMAO!! put ur life in perspective? its a song...buddy if u need a song to make ur life tick, you have serious issues and I think u need counseling.

  • @MyBlackAA Amen dude lol

  • @MyBlackAA

Music just impacts people like that, you know? Another song, Nothing Else Matters, means a lot to me, for example. It makes me think of people I love.

  • can't we all just get along? they all rock. end of story. period.

  • i love this song....esta muy bueno...!!

  • man i think i will start crying when i think about the fought that this song will never be played like this again ... Metallica is epic

  • roflrofl on 3:07 jason looks like Lorns in the tv-series Angel for you who's seen it :D

    (green skinned demon =o)

  • love metallica and its extended members people!!!!

  • Hey dumbass youtube people, EVERYONE who has EVER been in Metallica Kicks ass. Stop arguing about who is better than who... ya damn bastards

  • yes i agree completely ! burton newsted and trujillo are 3 completely different players so it is hard to compare them musically considering most people here dont have a fuckin clue about the rythm section in band, they all had there pinnacle in different ways, they were also different showmen in different ways obviouslyy newsted prevailing because of his karisma and being able to step upto the mic, rob makes up for this with his monkey like antic as cliff did with is soloing and metalness,

  • plus, rob has that sideways hair whip

  • @stantonshred You gotta admit though that Rob is doing Cliff proud

  • @JasonGH313 yes of course ! and newsted did also ..... as metallica are now i think trujillo suits them the best , as they were 10 years ago newsted suited them the best, and as they were in their trash days burton suited them the best, as they evolved their members did, its like a natural rotation and theyr so so lucky they are blesssed with this charm!

  • @stantonshred and dont forget too that rob does also step up to the mic on occasions, especially with the stuff from death magnetic and some of the old stuff. I would also rather watch rob as he has a more tradtional playing technique for the bass and I love that, i love his style. I have nothing against jason, I just like rob better.

  • Cliff's the best, he was Metallica' s Diamond (IMO), then came Jason who is a fine bassist as well, but didn' t really seem to belong to the band that well to me, and then came Trujillo and he fit right in! He'll not be as good as Cliff was, but he's probably the best out there now, and I deeply respect him.

  • i love the original drums but this kicks ass too! :D

  • Lol, Cliff's the only one out of the bassists that doesn't make funny faces during performances.

Don't get me wrong, I respect all three of em.

  • Truillo is a better intrumentalist than jason, but jason had better stage presence than truillo, so they even each other out... Cliff is better than both of em still

  • that he may be, but jason could kick the shit out of true jello

  • Could you stop calling him True Jello?

Show some respect for the choise they made.

  • i just dont like him, i tried to give some respect to him, but its pointless, i cant really stand him, IDK why

  • @MegaUnoriginal

LOL @ True Jello . ...you had me crackin up on that

  • hey stupid, trujillo its much better than jason, and trujillo has more style

  • so you think im a 10 years old?

Well, I'm not saying jason is a bad bassist, is just that I know when a musician is better than other.

  • I always laugh of people that get mad so easy like you :)

First, is Trujillo, and he dont act like a retard, he make every show interesting, and jason news-tits is a little pussy and now he's a looser sitting in a sofa watching videos of metallica and being jealous of Robert just like you do. So wake up man. Get a job, study I dont know but stop saying s**t.

    Bye, bye

  • @EdStrlngC ROFL Jason New-tits!!!

  • WORD!!!!

  • this is my first time i´ve ever heard that song and it´s fucking cool

  • Thre off to find the hero of the day

but what if they should fall by someone's wicked way

    Still the window burns

    time so slowly turns

    someone there is sighing

    keeper of the flames

    cant you hear your name?

Can't you hear your babies crying?

Mama they try and break me. . .

    Beautiful wording, Mr Hetfield.

  • 2:50...I cant hear you...Audience: METALLICA KICKS ASS

  • me too =)

  • i would give anything to be there... i m so fuckin jealous of those who were there

  • Idk why, but I love Jason's backing vocals at the end.

  • BEAUTIFUL.

    everything is just perfect.

Especially the solo, nice and simple!

Proving you don't need to shred like fuck to play a nice guitar part.

  • @KHI74 yes ! for me the best solo of kirk hammett is for load and reload!

  • can someone please post the lyrics to this song

  • @beckyfox19 google maybe

  • Metallica==exstra

  • don't understand why some people say it's gay that metal bands play with a symphony orchestra but it ROCKS it just sounds great :D

  • It was a daring move for sure, espeacially by metallica. the reason this wasnt completely hated by most fans was becouse Michael Kamen made it sound magical, most fans couldnt really complain.

    RIP Michael Kamen.

  • I'm only trying to break me....

  • sometimes my friends laugh at me when i tell them this song is one of my favourites by mettalica!

  • Cause they don't know real music.

  • Exactly!!!!!

  • MetallicA 4 EVER !!

  • So mote it be...

  • This is truly beautiful, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and James's voice just make it sound perfect

  • james voice is absouloutly amazing i mean i think this is one of the best live performances i just love this concert

  • @wetnappy08

yes and he went back to his crap voice on the s&m @ new york and berlin shows

  • a lot of this show was probably overdubbed in the studio

  • The Ballads of Metallica are very great.....

    S&M is the Best

  • the french horns at intro / min 2:47 and end...RULESSSS!!!!

  • This is my favorite vocal performance that James has ever done, his voice is absolutely beautiful in this version.

  • LOVE Jasons backingvocals!

  • this can actually be my lullaby to put me to sleep sounds beautiful

  • Majestic sound...truly a great song. This alone should prove that albums after Black Album DO NOT SUCK.
