  • It took me awhile, but I would like to thank you for answering my question <3 :D

  • the vocalist from resist the thought uses both inhale and exhale. if you listen to their song "legacy of a martyr" you can hear him alternating bettween the two.

he exhales the words, "Held my head high, swore to the sky

That I'd stand and I'd fight and I'd die for my pride"

and then straight after he switches to an inhale when he says

"No remorse for the weak, you are all I despise "

and then after he switches back to exhale.

you can hear him alternating throughout the songs.

  • if i find my type of scream is it easy to do it over and over again

  • What about "airy" vocals... how to fix it

  • hi5 non smoking screamer!

  • your tattoo is sick!

  • That band sounds more like vocalfry... if you practice it to be very fluid you get a similar sound to inhale highs.. if you make it sound raspy you can get a false chord or inhale gutteral sound.

however inhaling is bad and if you want to actually know why just inbox me and i'll tell you :)

  • my first screaming video was me inhale screaming, and it started hurting so i stopped. My exhales sound more like death metal vocals and im trying to practice screaming

  • Actually I heard that if you do inhales too much your lungs may collapse or something like that?

  • @xRushBlade True. Nothing happens to your throat (sometimes it hurts), it's that your lungs may collapse if you do inhale.

  • With the gurgling thing, you need to push harder with you're diaphragm.

  • Inhale screams are the worst thing you can do, they use your vocal chords to to make the sound and not the false chord muscles located just behind the vocal chords, though it may sound 'good' by some miracle the chances are after a set of screaming using the inhale technique your voice will be haggered and have more than likely blown out, Exhale screaming using the correct usage of your diaphragm and false chord muscles is the only way to ensure you do no damage to you vocal chords.

  • @edwardexecution That would be a very good comment but you need to mention that inhale screaming does little or no long-term damage to your vocal chords It's to your lungs that the damage is done. Energised/vibrated air particals enter your lungs and rip the aviolie (tiny pockets of air that you need to breathe) If you inhale for a few months realise its bad and stop you're fine. If you use it for a prelonged period of time 1-3 years, your lungs can collapse.

  • i HATE inhale screams BECAUSE they are HORRIBLE for your vocal chords the force of the screams on ur chords just shreds them little by little so of course you aren't REALLY going to hut you at first or even for a long time and maybe you can get really deep sounds that you couldn't get by exhaling MAYBE but in the long run you will do serious permanent damage to your voice. i started out inhaling and it automatically hurt then i slowly started to learn exhaling and its so much better now JS :o

  • As has already been said I've heard that inhales are really bad for your vocal chords. I've heard they're made to vibrate and make noise with air flowing out of them not into them. I'm not sure if it's true or not. I personally get a sore throat if I do inhales so I don't do them. Pain is the bodies of way of saying there's something wrong so I obviously shouldn't do them

  • @unholyXromance "Pain is the bodies of way of saying there's something wrong "

Very good rule to follow there... mind if I steal it for some of my students :)

  • @Zwitter101 of course not, go for it lol.

  • Used to do inhales for a long time before i started to do exhales, you can make some sick noises with inhales that's true, but it's really bad for your voice from what i've heard.

  • I'm pretty sure RtT are inhale, I agree that song and all of their stuff is awesome. They are absolutely insane live.

  • @IntoTheWoodsWithMe

I'm almost certain they are too

  • U should get a beard lol. I'm 13 and I got a beard and mustache and I'm 6 foot 1. 8th grade. :\ I look like I'm 17 or 18 haha.

  • Well that's why I have my guitarist of my band (As The Tides Come In) do some screams 2 cause I'm the drummer and its usually not good to scream while sitting down but oh well. Haha Ben I love ur band and maybe one day I could see u guys live? But I live in Seattle WA. :(

  • @cr6333 we'd love to come over to the US :) maybe one day! if your exhales sound like death growls thats cool, just do what i suggested and practice them, and experiment to get different tones. Some people are suited to different kinds of screaming :)

  • @cr6333 if your screams don't sound good sat down try doing vocal fry... I find false chord difficult whilst drumming because it takes soo much air out of your lungs when you need to keep a steady breathing whilst drumming. Try using vocalfry, there are thousands of tutorials on the youtube for vocalfry, but if you feel lasy, feel free to message me i've helped others before and i'd be happy to help you :)

  • I Do Inhales and they sound perfectly fine but I wanna work on my exhales cause inhales can hurt you badly. My exhales sound like death growls. Is that normal? I've been doing exhales for 3 years but I suck, inhales for 1 year.

  • I don't do inhales because it makes me feel like I'm suffocating haha. I don't know much about inhales buy I heard if you do it you can collapse a lung. I'm sure there's another way to do it though.

  • I wouldn't personally do inhales... because your most likely going to blow your vocals a lot faster than any other vocalist. But people say Krysta Cameroon from iwrestledabearonce inhales and I love her so you've got a point. As long as its good:D

  • POKEMON XD <3

  • Pokemon :D

  • usually the scene fags that are against inhales lol

  • I think Resist the Thought's screamer does do inhales, but it still sounds awesome. Nothing against inhales.
