If the citizens of any county choose to support a 287g program, that is their right as a community. None of these special interests groups even live in Graham North Carolina. I support Sheriff Terry Johnson for supporting the peoples wishes to have a 287g program.

Of course the law is discriminatory, in two ways. First of all it discriminates against those members of society who dont possess a government mandated piece of identification. Secondly its results are discriminatory against people who are perceived by law enforcement officials as not belonging to their race or culture.

...it's reasonable for the LEO to initiate an immigration check.  What you describe as racism, in an attempt to interfere with the detection and deportation of illegal aliens, isn't actually racism, it's merely determining if there is probable cause to suspect the person is a non-citizen and if so, to check their immigration status. Such things can easily be avoided by visitors and legal residents by carrying the legally required proof of lawful entry or residence.

It is not reasonable. A local cop's duty is to protect the residents of his or her community, regardless of their immigration status. Federal laws are to be enforced by federal authorities not local authorities.

Once again, you are WRONG. A local officer's duty is to uphold the law, including local, state, and federal . Protecting people does not mean they need to look the other way when they find a person who is in this country illegally. In fact, given all the harm illegal aliens do to this country in for form of stolen jobs, depressed wages, tax evasion, and money taken out of our country and sent back home, initiating deportation proceedings is protecting the legal residents of the community.
