  • Their newest album is brilliant

  • Jam bands are for teenagers

  • was this show at gabes in iowa city?

  • i actually like their new cds better than Twilight. i love all of them, but i like each one more than i liked the last :) <3

  • The very first riff he plays reminds me a lot of voodoo child.

  • There was a time when I thought these guys were going to save music. They played what must have been, hands down, the best performance I had ever seen. It's incredibly surprising how quickly they lost their momentum. There was so much potential here. It's really just a complete shame Trampoline had to happen to them. I still find myself seeking this video out every so often. What could have been...

  • @thegreatfish I saw them standing outside a Mars Volta show in the city. I told them to "keep it real". I hope they knew that I was talking about their music. I completely agree with you man. I watch this video at least once a month. I miss the old Steel Train. I'm actually at work right now and had to sign in just to leave you this comment.

  • @thegreatfish You didn't like trampoline?

  • @dmirti1993 I have nothing against people who like trampoline, but Twilight Tales was a completely different creature. It signaled a return to form for music. Songs like Gypsy Waves, Tickle Your Toes, and Lee Baby Simms were all about the qualities that used to make music great. They were the same qualities that are completely lacking now. Trampoline is not necessarily bad, but it's nothing special either. The follow up to Twilight could (should) have been a groundbreaking moment in music.

  • @thegreatfish That's what happens when a band breaks up and one or two guys carry on the name but not the sound.

  • wish they still jammed

  • john mayer is a douche bag. end of story

  • to everyone who's hating on trampoline -- yes it's different, and i'd like to think in a good way. all the songs, though a little more pop-ish, have real meaning. the lyrics on trampoline are all amazing, while the lyrics from twilight are much more generic. they like classic rock a lot, and it's nice they didn't rehash it in trampoline. they made something new. mad props.

  • new cd is awful compared to their first one...hate to say it but its completely different in a bad way...too bad Jon Mayer doesnt write his own music btw.

  • agreed. the new cd is god awful. oh and your a moron for saying john mayer doesnt write his own music

  • mmm..I wanna see them live

  • I love this video and song, it sucks that trampoline has nothing like this and is basically pop. I saw them live and they mostly did songs off trampoline which were performed well but it just feels like steel train has changed and completely converted to cheesy alternative pop rock

  • I don't think that is true!

    Their music may have changed.

But I thnk in a good way.

Twilight Tales had many slow songs on it.

which are all amazing in their own right.

Trampoline was like a huge turn around for them..

It is different then Twilight Tales.

Their live performance is still incrediable.

And I love them a lot.

  • Jack still plays guitar like this during live settings!

I think that during a live setting you have like more control & just creativity to do a lot more, and to like switch the songs up a little bit.

but for recording a CD its like you play each song the way the way they were written.

  • And Jack does not jam like he used to. He is an amazing guitar player, but he seems content to hide his talent in the closet, sort of like a reverse John Mayer.

  • You're right. I watch old videos on here and just think about how I wish I could see him jam like before. I've seen them 4 times now though and this last time on the headlining tour was perfect. He came out a bit, haha.

But yes, agreed. John Mayer is super talented and lets it all out! I've seen him twice and it's perfect.

  • If they had done Trampoline just like Twilight Tales, people would've complained that they cant branch out or something dumb like that. I got Twilight when it came out, liked it alot. Saw them live with Trampoline songs and they became my favorite band. Change for the better I'd say.

  • hey jake

  • I couldn't agree more. I saw these guys years ago and they were amazing. They did sweet jams and some covers, like "Psycho Killer". I saw them twice more. The second time was pretty good, but more subdued, and the third time was horrible. It was before Trampoline was released, and almost every song was a new song, and not even close to anything from Twilight. They had so much potential to be unique and amazing, but now they're just like everything else. Biggest dissapointment ever.

  • I love these guys.

They put on a hell of a live show.

  • yea i must be on crack for watching this video

  • mendthebroken are you on crack?

  • opps i said black jimmy haha jimmy was black...i meant he's like the white jimmy hendrix

  • he's like the black jimmy hendrix...saw these guys live and it FUCKING ROCKED! They are coming back up to seattle and i think i'm definitely going to go to that show cause damn...melted my face

  • without a shred of doubt Steel Train has the greatest live show ever. these guys truely love their music with every fiber of their being. They're the new and improved Grateful Dead. Seeing them live is a truely mystical experience, they get everybody dancing, it's simply fantastic.

  • I really like this group and I am probably outside their demographic.. If you have not yet heard one of their CD's get one or go to their site to hear more.

  • Good Music doesn't have a Demographic, its for everybody.
