The Model Rick Martel was great. He wasn't used properly after 1991 though. He went on leave of absence after WM 7's blind fold match vs. Jake the Snake to work on his real estate business back home. Once he returned he was basically used to put over talent. In 1992 he feuded with HBK over Sherri's affection. And WM 8 he jobbed to Tatanka. In 1993 he again, jobbed to Razor Ramon for the vacant I.C title. But for a AWA champion to never get a main event match or a singles title was a shame.
@JKTube I hope you're referring to Jim McPherson. The Model gimmick got Martel heat and some feature feuds and matches, while a comparably talented and accomplished Tito Santana went to squashville as a straight babyface. This gimmick preserved his talent for fans, I'd say.

@Inediblehulk
Exactley. Martel was never the top heel, but there was no heel I hated more than the model himself.
