  • Cool!

  • Nice! the heck with KUOW. NPR == "National Petroleum Radio" that station is afraid of it's own shadow.

  • Way more informative than "audio only". And no need to compromise with anyone. Win-win!

  • Nice job - great presentation. How about 15-30 seconds on marine implications, for those of us looking at spending the weekends on the water.

  • I love this, two thumbs up!

  • For situations like storms, and particularly for snow, I'd recommend adding a googlemaps-based "near realtime" page where subscribers/visitors can add data via pinpoints - snow depth, etc - data simply not available elsewhere. Another way that might be easier to manage (at least in its present incarnation) is of course the Facebook. Some of us are working pretty hard to raise the level of discourse on FB, although that's probably as Quixotic as trying to fix either KUOW or math education,

  • Thanks so much ... for this fantastic presentation and all your other public services!!

  • this is great! more please!

  • I appreciate being talked to like an adult and being provided more technical information on weather conditions and forecasts. Other weather forecasts include a spin to leave the viewer with a good feeling and are presented at about a 3rd grade level.

    KEEP IT UP

  • Hey Cliff: this is awesome! I would suggest including links to the sites you use in the video as well as your blog. You can put the links in the Description field of the video if you click "edit" in the video list. You can add some tags, a description, etc.

  • This is good. Please keep it up.

  • Hey, what's not to like-? We not only get to hear you wisdom but we can see exactly to what you're referring. As they say... "a picture is worth a thousand words..."

  • Yes, fantastic.

  • I like it! A nice mix of what was on KUOW and your blog.

  • Great addition to the blog! Thanks.

    Jack

  • This is an excellent format. I like being able to see live what you are talking about and the information. I would vote a strong YES to putting this on your blog.

  • I enjoyed the new format, just wish the screen were larger. Please keep it up.

I have been following your current controversy on your blog, KUOW's face book page and, of course, their news reportage. I have been streaming Steve Scher's Weekday at work for a couple of years and am well aware of his biases. His appeals to 'fairness' come off as a weak attempt at damage control.

    Keep up the good work.

  • I am not a regular public broadcastong listener or viewer. This format is great for me as I can view this utube broadcast on my schedule. I have just moved to the north Seattle area from Montana. Your educational format for your blog has been a great help to me learning about the weather here that is so much different then the high plains of eastern Montana. Thanks for your efforts.

  • I like this broadcast because I am being shown the tools accessible to me, and having them and the resulting imagery explained in a way that I can understand. This is really invaluable to me in understanding not only meteorology as a whole, but how it specifically relates to where I live. Thanks Cliff, I really hope you adopt this new approach.

  • I really like the educational aspect of your youtube broadcast. I always wanted to learn how to read forecast models. I'm very interested in understanding the mm5, any chance you could cover this in the future?

    Thanks!

  • Fantastic media to present your commentary (of all sorts!)

  • Very informative. The visuals really enhance the experience. One suggestion - use cursor-enhancing software to make the cursor more obvious. I don't know what OS you are using - OmniDazzle is an example for the Mac - and is free!

  • I miss ALL your Friday commentaries on KUOW, but until the time you return this is a perfect substitute. I really enjoy the visuals along with the explanations. GO CLIFF !!!

  • This is great stuff!

I've been looking at all the resources you used in the video for awhile now, but (as others have mentioned) the added commentary is very informative.

  • I like it! I've been looking at such maps a lot, without all the nuances of what's going on. It's great to have commentary explaining the the weather visualizations. One idea for future vidcasts, have another person you can talk to in the mix, a common person point of view. I know from my own experience in DVD commentaries, that the conversational format helps make the presentation easier for the speaker, Great to see you taking positive action in the midst of this disagreement with KUOW.

  • This is great. Very informative. I always wondered what was going on with the artificial streaks. It would be great to contrast the 2 models (MM5 vs GFS) when it makes sense. It seems to me that MM5 is less precise on wind forecasts for sailing.

  • Thanks for your effort to educated and inform us any way you can. I like the presentation and it greatly enhances my understanding of what's going on with the weather by being able to see what you are talking about and having the time to explain what we are looking at. Please continue with this format even if yo get back on the radio. Thanks again.

  • Great stuff! I like the visuals, and this format will be much easier for me to consume.

  • This is great! Please continue!!

  • I didn't often get a chance to catch your KUOW spots, and I don't like their ham-handed handling of your 'dispute' with them, but this format is *much* more informative, visual, and interesting. And I don't care *at all* if you talk about other topics, here or anywhere else!

  • Awesome, Cliff...Thank-you! Thank-you for your expertise, patience, and perseverance. I have nothing good to say about "that radio station" and follow your writings and commentary every day. You are assisting me with learning more more about the environment that surrounds me. Thank-you so much.

  • I like this multimedia approach. It's great to listen to you and see the images. Regardless of what happens with you and KUOW, you should continue this approach.

    thanks!

  • Cliff, I live in Port Angeles and have trouble receiving KUOW and many of the Seattle stations. For me, this is a big improvement and, just as important, available to me anytime and nearly anywhere. Even if you land a gig with another radio station, please do this too.

  • Terrific!

  • EEEEKK! This was like Christmas in terms of all the fantastic websites that you are turning us onto. How will I get my husband off the computer now?? You've made lemonade of the lemons that KUOW gave you and we love it. Thanks so much.

  • Cliff, this would be great as an ongoing basis regardless of what happens with KUOW. Radio just isn't a convenient way for me to get my information unless I happen to be driving at precisely the time your forecast comes along. With this medium you can step through the models frame by frame and highlight/explain certain aspects of the forecast even better than your blog. Keep up the great work!

  • Excellent!

  • This is fantastic and for someone not from the Seattle Area who follows your blog but not KUOW this is much more informative. Embedding these in your blog would be the most effective means. Nice persistence Cliff.

  • Thank you, awesome job. It looks like Radio's future is not so great anyway

  • This was great, please keep doing these with the visuals! Much easier to see and learn what happens.

  • this is great! thank you so much for doing this cliff

  • @hsiflliw and please keep doing these!

  • I like this approach very much. Since I cannot get KUOW where I live - I don't much care if you get that worked out. My hope is that even if you get it worked out with KUOW that you still follow this technology. I can then follow you whereever I am and whenever I want to tune in. (CliffTV)

  • Cliff, I really think this is a good means of communicating your ideas. I think that radio will probably become significantly less relevant in the near future. Having said that, I think that this form of communication is the future. I hope you stick to this format and see the KUOW incident as an opportunity to try something new. There is so much you can do on this platform that I hope you continue down this path.

  • It's interesting to see which web tools you use. Thanks!

  • This has the potential to far better than your KUOW bit, Cliff. There is so much you could do with this. It's also great to see the animations we can't see on the public UW Loops page.

  • Cliff, I would recommend moving your mouse off to the side of the screen when you make these videos. Othewise, this would be very nice.

  • I agree! This is great! I always learn something from you - this makes it far more effective!!

  • Well done Cliff. First time to hear your voice. Indeed you have a voice for radio!

  • This is great! Keep on making videos...I think it'll be even better than your KUOW segment!

  • Thanks, Cliff! Informative--and hooray for technology!
