A good way to prevent the water spilling out is to have electrician's wire nuts stuffed into the ends. This works well.

if you hold the tube on the post on the mark and mark the tube then you can go around and mark the posts and you dont have to tell the person up or down you can mark the posts when the water meets the mark on the tube
