@olevarher you'll get the same result as blocking the strike, the chain will wrap around the sword, if you understand physics you would understand this better =) but dont worry we learn something new everyday
very good demonstration. Kusarigamajutsu is far superior. No wonder in the Lone wolf & Cub mange, they had Ogami Itto him barely winning and only winning by sheer luck.
yes, but Masaki ryu is very closely linked to Suio Ryu... in fact in this video, it is the Soke of Suio Ryu who is demonstrating Masaki Ryu Fukuhara-ha Kusarigamajutsu... I think that's why the title of the video is "Suio-Ryu Kusarigamajutsu" ;) But I always love to see it!
That is true. However, the 15th Headmaster of Suio Ryu Iai Kenpo is also the 12th Generation Soke of this Tradition. So in this case it is not Suio Ryu but Masaki Ryu Fukuhara-ha Kusarigamajutsu demonstarated by the current Headmaster.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to strike the chain rather than trying to block it?

@olevarher Striking the chain will have the steel ball in the end be flung straight back towards your head. So no.

Strange... in forms with two swords Taichi side almost always has an opportunity to cut his adversary using second sword.
