The Flex From the Cone does not depend on the surroundings the size of the boot. The boot is ported to start with, it is not airtight

It will not damage the sub. The most damage running that sub, would of been doing it with the ignition off. Its the battery that gets drained. No Damage dont to any parts of System.

My English is not that good but i try to explain what i mean.

if your sub is playing that loud and you open the trunk the air volume in the trunk changes and it "CAN BE" (!!!) that the membran of the sub gets a scratch.

Thats what i heard and i saw that when a friend opened his Trunk playing 2x32" Digital Designs Woofer each with 1000w RMS one of the Subs made a Bad noise and got a scratch in the membran.

I dunno if that happened to others also but like i said, i saw that and it can happen

you do need a bigger box and opening the trunk/boot of your car can damage your sub, depending on a few things. It is called loading.
