Why would anyone evolved with a right mind be stupid enough to let their kid get near a tiger. It's like telling your kid how cool cars are and having them run out into traffic on a freeway in LA. The parents and cat owner should face manslaughter if not homicide charges. Killing the cat is like killing a driver on the interstate because a kid ran out in front of a car moving 75mph. How twisted some peoples minds really are. Maybe people watch too many cartoon movies with talking predators.
The above was taken from Tiger Haven NOT BIG CAT RESCUE. I bet you have never been to BCR I bet you never talked to one of their volunteers. All of BCRs financial statements can be found online you can see where their money goes. BCR doesnt have any employees to pay like most of teh road side zoos you condone it goes right back into the cats
Unfortunately, Saha fits the profile of a typical picture cub. Due to malnutrition, he walks with his feet crossed and often stumbles. He runs into walls, and falls on occasion. He also eats very slowly, as though he has to remember what to do after each bite, and he has a far away look in his eyes.
The poor nutrition they receive during this time causes health problems for the cubs as they mature. The cubs are usually treated badly to keep them from hurting the person who is paying for the picture. Often they are beaten and slapped to keep them from biting.
tigerhavenDOTorg Saha came to us from a small roadside zoo in North Carolina. He was used as a picture cub but had outgrown his job as they always do. Lots of people who use cubs for pictures feed the cubs as little as possible to keep them small. Once they reach 25 to 30 pounds, they can no longer be used for pictures with the public, and are no longer wanted or needed.
We need regulation of zoos and sanctuaries and to outlaw hunting felids, NOT Haley's Act.
Most of the people reading this are concerned about the welfare of cats. Please, please take just a moment to discover what is really going on. Haley's act is not good for cats.
The competitor for habitat is humans. Lawmakers are NEVER going to vote against humans. When cougars show up in Chicago, they are shot. These cats are going to go extinct if Haley's Act goes through.
maybe You don't knwo what teh Haleys act is about. "SUPPORT A LAW THAT WOULD FORBID ANYONE FROM HELPING ANYTHING THAT ISN'T A HOUSECAT" what are you TALKING about. The law doesn't ban private ownership so your little rant has no bearing. Big Cat Rescue is not the only organization supporting this so I guess anyoen who is supporting this is in for the fame as well.

Its really simple. People who are allowed direct contact with exotic animals become enthusiasts for those animals. They become emotionally invested in the welfare and preservation of those species.
An informed and interested public can cause great change to occur.
My "pet" cause is preventing extinction of the cougar. I am convinced these wonderful creatures will become extinct if creative solutions are not found. There will be no stopping the loss of habitat. We need a new approach.
yawn, this topic has already been discussed on this video. There are millions of people who have never touched an animal and are still fighting hard to protect them.
If we followed your "logic" then since even bottle-fed hand raised animals attack they should all be put down because they are a threat to public safety. Especially zoos and "sanctuaries" since a fatal tiger attack happened at the San Francisco zoo.
Ridiculous argument.

comparing inanimate objects to a living breathing endangered creature is rather stupid. I think you have missed the point, if teh animal attacks a human it is put down anyways. More animals will be put down by not having the haleys act than the other way around.
That is fallacious reasoning. The system of human-cat is what we are really referring to and in the auto metaphor, the system is human-auto. Anyone who has ever ridden in an auto can tell you they "have a mind of their own".
Nevertheless, although more animals will be put down, attacks are much more rare than death from loss of habitat, so my argument stands.
so you admit that the haleys act would reduce the amount of tigers killed unecessarily in this country. Your argument does not stand, you assume privately kept tigers have anything to do with wild tigers and that somehow private ownership helps conservation. Conservation doesn't mean just more tigers it means more tigers in their natural habitats.
I like how you private owners when questioned why you keep them you immediately state that the wild is a scary awful place. Please if you spent more time helping conservation efforts that protected wild habitat then there wouldnt be a problem however you rather spend your money petting lion cibs at a mall. What about the babies that are discarded when they are too big? there is more to this issue than whether cars cause more deaths.
p.s. i have an auto it does not have a mind of its own. If i moved suddenly i doubt my car will pounce on me and bite my neck. If your car is doing these things i suggest you switch manufacturers.
That is ridiculous. Look at your own argument. Cars?! First off, it's not a cars fault if the driver is the one controlling it. There are more cars than cats so obviously your stats wouldn't really be a great comp. anyways. There have been over 800 incidences have occured (big cat/human attacks) since 1990, all from USDA accredited facilities. They left 70 people dead, and hundreds of animals. So you tell me- are those lives worth it?! I think not.
True that! You don't have to touch an animal to want to help it. Do you have to pet a polar bear to want to save it from extinction? Of course not. That's ridiculous, as people ARE helping animals they've never touched.
thats BS just so you know. I use MY money towards conervation efforts around the world not to go into some roadside zoos pocket. There are lots of private owners who dont have to drag their animals all over the country and take money from people to take photos with. They are killing the cubs once they get too big how is that "saving the species" Give me a break.
they are supposed to be in the wild. why settle for the big cats if we have domestic cats? people love their exotic pets but most of them just want to show them off. they allow posing with the cubs to make money then they will give reasons like "so that we can have the means to feed and take care of them" and why breed some more if you are already having problems on how to feed and care for them.
we don't have big cats here in the philippines but i would rather see them and be educated by watching the discovery channel and the national geographic channel. the main problem is people are fond of abusing. people abuse other people, how much more to an animal who can't speak their thoughts. ARE YOU STILL GOING TO WAIT FOR A 12 WEEK OLD TIGER TO DO SOMETHING TRAGIC BEFORE REALIZING?! it may be a rare incident but it could happen.
I think those who are against the haleys act simply don't know all the problems associated with people hauling cubs around for photo shoots. People who take thei animals out to malls ect don't want you to see the conditions the animals live in, legitimate sanctuaries/rescues do not take their animals off property. Many cubs are STARVED to be kept under 40lbs so they can be used in photo ops for a longer period. many cubs are discarded after they are too big.
Now that you are informed I hope you as the general public make the right decision FOR the animals and NOT for yourselves. I am in support of the haley's act.
Great video. This bill will also make it a little easier for the law to do their jobs in trying to control the "out of control" big cat problem we have here in the US, as many people will hopefully stop breeding/buying tigers/lions since they can't make money off of the cubs.
When the Haley incident occurred it was in violation of an already exsisting law. The one that states that there is to be no contact with big cats once they reach 40lbs/4 months. The tiger Haley was with was full grown. The owner ot the tiger was prosecuted and that should be it. Not everybody should have to pay a price for HIS wrong doing. That's like saying that cars should be banned because someone was speeding. We should inforce the laws that we already have and NOT create new ones.
Why is there the need to devour and own the entire freedom of our big cats?!! To mold and breed to our satisfaction. Were not God's gifts of beauty good enough for us humans; that we have to destroy and change their very existence? We are destroying them not loving them! They were not meant to be owned like a rag doll. THEY WERE BORN FREE!
This act is the worst thing that could happen we have to learn to Properly Train and deal with animals. We Cant Blame Animals for the wrong doing of their owners. Peace and Love!
This act does not blame the animals it aids in protecting these animals. The tiger that attacked Haley had been around humans from the day it was born and the tiger that attacked Roy horn was suppossed to be one of the most highly trained animals in the industry. You cannot undo years of evolutionary work that easily. These incidences prove that.
So you agree with the fact that these people only use these animals as props and then get rid of them after theya re no longer useful. You cannot train a wild animal. You may subdue it's natural tendencies for awhile and it may get used to you but its is still wild. And it is arrogant of humans to believe we can go ahead and change that. The animals always suffer for man's arrogance.
Yes animals can be Trained and maintained Explain Wolves and Horses and Bears Birds all domesticated Animals started out as wild. so again I say it is about time that owners are held to account for the Treatment and care of these Animals. its easy to say its how the Animal reactes instead of asking why did the Owner not ensure the animal is prepared for anything and if its not why take a chance.
when Money is the answer we should Rethink the problem. Peace and Love!
it took mankind 100,000 years to domesticate the wolves and turn them into dogs same with horses and other domesticated animals. I and the video both agree with you, that it is not the animal's fault and it is the people's fault. However the tiger ended up suffering for its owner's mistake. Haley's act would increase the fines that these owneres would have to pay if they violate the law. These animals will always be wild, so why put them and the public at risk?
if we dont Educate the animals and the PPL we will continue to Live with the Thought that we are Unable to Live together in peace and in fact I have seen Educted Trainers who have been able to not Only work with Animals but work for them.they will not always be wild as you said Ignorance of the past took Longer to Find Wisdom and the Education of today can make a sanctuary for Animals and PPL to Live as one. when we make things Taboo we allow Ignorance to Rule the day.
explotation of animals it is about ignorance. PPl Kill them PPL hate them PPl exploit them as PPL are not Eductaed about them. you Jumped in with what I would have Expected from someone Uneducated to the Truth and if you dont wake to the Truth of our power through Education. Iam sorry for the animals that will suffer because of you. Education is our Guide. You Prove that Misinformation Kills as will this act. One step backwards towards the Ignorance we have tryed to walk away from.
Now I think everyone here has been civil to you. I don't mind if people disagree with me, as I said in the video this is simply my opinion. So I'm not sure why you feel the need to call anyone uneducated. I suppose I am uneducated along with the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the Humane Society and the ASPCA who agree with this act.
I do believe in the power of education and that is why I am imploring you to educate yourself, not only on what the Haley's Act is but on how to argue your points without resorting to name calling.
We have a long way to go when it comes to learning respect for nature. Thankfully we've got some people who are action oriented and thoughtful enough to remind us of how to go about it by posting videos such as this. Keep up the good work! =^..^=
Supporters of private ownership love to say that their way is better than nature's way but look at where that attitude has gotten us. It has given us global warming, extinction of many of the earth's species at an alarming rate, depletion of our natural resources. These animals know better than us how to take care of themselves.
We need to stop fooling ourselves and start getting serious about habitat conservation because that is where the future for these animals lies, not in someone's backyard
the animals are the one imprisoned. Haley's act is to protect them as well. It is not always about us as humans and what we believe we have a right to, think about them as well.
The pet tiger that was found dead in Texas on Christmas day really disturbed me. The fact that the person was able to get away with this cruelty showed me that there is need for stronger laws over the people owning these animals!
I agree completely. Acts like this should have much more severe consequences. And laws definitely need to be stepped up to prevent more animals from suffering a similar fate!
they dont have that twinkle of freedom in their eyes any more... I think people should just leave them in the wild, where they were ment to be.. in the wild..
wild animals are exactly that, wild. what a tragedy.when provoked the animal will save itself and become savage, but that is its nature. so sad............. thanks for posting 7wolfs
If you go to big cat rescue's website bigcatrescueDOTorg they have a link under catlaws you can go and write a letter and send it to your state representative let them know how important this issue is to you!
We have to respect Sauvage animals as they are ,Sauvage and beautiful in Nature and not as sometimes as some of us want to see or whorse exploit them...and teach Children what are Sauvage Animals ...i agree..thanks
Very good video, hope the bill passes. I have two cats that have been together for 3 years and after all there time together I have to give one up, they dont get along anymore.
Hi 7wolfs... Thank you for sharing this video with me... I left a post here for G5242, I absolutely agree with this!! Animals are not objects to be displayed, they are living beings exactly as we are, they just look different and communicate differently... Thank you again 7wolfs... lovingflame xoxo
7wolfs sent me your way! This is well done and well said! The tiger at the SF Zoo was provoked and then jumped a wall that was too low! 5 public service stars!
i totally agree with you! Children do not need to touch an animal in order to want to save it! and not just children, just people in general! anyways, Awesome Video!
well done its true any wild animal even if you think its tame needs only a small mistake by anything and its hunting instincts will prevail its only natural you cant blame the cat only the people that do this good luck on getting this bill passed
Nice video, well produced, but riddled with misleading statements. No one has died from a big cat cub (under 4 months) attack. 25 children (under age 14) were killed by toys in 2001 alone, ban toys?
No, the animals aren't killed. It is admirable that you "FEEL" this way, but they are your feelings and you want them to be imposed on others.
You didn't mention animals being born into the pet trade.
thank you for your comment and thank you for your concern but I have done my research and the incidences i am referring to have been documented and you will be able to find them with a little research if you have questions as to where you can find them you can leave me a message. Also i'm not sure where in the video i referred to animals being killed I was questioning whether these places had enough money and land to house all of the cats they produce.
and I find that most people I talk to about the Haley's act actually approve of it and so far the only opposition I see are from private owners or from places that let you take your picture with these animals, which is understandable. I statred out the video by saying I didn't mean to impose anything on anybody this is just my personal feelings. Thank you
you go g5242! Frankly I find people that compare toys to tigers as slightly ridiculous!how are you going to compare an inheritantly dangerous animal, a PREDATOR! with its own free will to inanimate object. Most of the death due to toys were because the consumers used it incorrectly or poor manufacturing. How then is it surprising that there will be more death from toys than captive tigers.
Thank you G5242 for posting this most important information... I agree with this decision 101%, for all of the reasons listed, excellent, I am happy to hear this... lovingflame
What happened to this young woman was tragic. The problem is not a need for more laws, it is getting proper enforcement of current laws. If the current law had been enforced, this would not have happened.
The reason he used the 550 pound tiger in the first place was because the cubs were too energetic and wouldn't stay still for the photo. By making it illegal to touch all cats at any age there would have been no expectation from the public to have their picture taken with a tiger that day then the owner wouldn't have felt obligated to the point where he broke the law.
Finally someone with common sense! When are people going to realize that we need to be accountable for what we do?We don't need to have another law passed, and then another, and another to keep this kind of a tragedy from happening, what we NEED is for the public to be held responsible for what they decide to do, or not to do. How many teenagers are killed in drunk driving accidents? How many teenagers and young adults are killed at parties? Now, how many are killed by tigers?
when animals are killed for following their instincts they are the ones held accounatble for what we as the public do. don't forget two individuals died that day Haley AND the tiger.
Brilliant! Wonderfully presented. Direct and to the point.
We MUST ask ourselves whenever and wherever we see animals being used for entertainment or photo ops - WHERE are they coming from? And WHERE do they really, really belong? You have helped us all answer this question. BRAVO!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO. I have favorited it of course. There are very few ACCURATE and true videos. This is one of them.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING A VOICE FOR THE ANIMALS! Haley's Act is very important and NEEDS TO BE PASSED! As all other comments have said, WELL DONE!!!!
Thank you so much everyone for your kind comments!! my daughter was who first introduced me to the Haley's act and after finding out more about it and what it plans to accomplish I really do believe it is the right way to go!
Thank you for making this video. It gives the captive cats a voice that is desperately needed. You can take the cat out of the wild, but you can't take the wild out of the cat.
that is such a beautiful pic of joseph. good thing BCR was able to step in and give him a good home for the rest of his days.He will live the rest of his life in peace and with dignity. Thanks BCR!!!
Absolutely Superb; Accurate in every detail. And it sounds good to me!! Both good for humans and good for the exploitation of the animals. When man learns to respect our wild life then perhaps we can respect ourselves and learn to live together in peace! Well done.
I completely agree with this video I do believe we need stronger laws protecting these animals in captivity. It is a pity they are there in the first place so it is up to us to make sure they have the best life possible, Haley's act is one step further in protecting them!
We live in a topsy-turvy world, with more tigers in captivity in the United States than remaining in the wild, where they belong! Thanks for helping to set it right.
I am deeply touched that you care enough to really get to the root of the issue and explain it in such a simple and elegant manner. I would like your permission to host this on our website and to send it to the members of Congress who can get this law passed this year. I would encourage others here to write their legislators with an easy, click and send letter at CatLaws dot com. Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue

Great video! I hope Haleys Act is passed for the well being of all the animals and the public. People should know better.
It's sad how people can be so ignorant and selfish to have to put an animal through that!

Haley's act is a piece of "feel-good" legislation that does nothing to protect animals.
It makes the case for hunters and anti-environmentalists that "big cats" like the cougar are too dangerous and therefore need to be wiped out.
What this really is about is a money. BigCatRescue will get more money if Haley's act is passed.
READ THE FINE PRINT. Email your Senators and have them OPPOSE this dreadful legislation.
wsmith68 3 years ago
that was actually pretty funny.

Big Cat Rescue is NON Profit. They will not be recieving any money from this act.
They want to STOP ABUSERS and those using animals for exploitation. That is the point of the act.

If this passes, most of you will feel like you did when you found out there were no "WMDs" in Iraq.
You will know you have been SCAMMED.
We need laws against animal cruelty, but we don't need a law that just makes money for established "sanctuaries" and helps EXTINCT RARE SPECIES !!
The cougar, an animal that Native Americans held in highest esteem, a symbol of the Americas--only present on this continent--is NEARLY GONE!
wsmith68 3 years ago
Just because a few cruel people abuse animals is no reason to support a law that would forbid anyone from helping anything that isn't a housecat.
This is like saying that because SOME mothers abuse their children, ALL mothers abuse their children. So outlaw motherhood?!!
IF YOU READ THIS LAW, THATS WHAT IT DOES.
The reason BigCatRescue supports this is because they will be the only place for the animals to go. BigCatRescue's owner will rake in money and fame.
SELFISH OPPORTUNISTS !

Well just so you know, not everyone who adopts an exotic is a roadside zoo.
You very well know that one must have a USDA permit to display the animals.
And killing an animal just because it is no longer a cub is animal cruelty.
What you BigCatRescue people seem to desire is a world where YOUR LITTLE ROADSIDE ZOO IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN OPERATE--MONOPOLY 101 !

Take your own advice.
If the Haleys of this country won't protect themselves you are there to prevent her from choosing to do herself harm.
So if the ostensible purpose is to forbid people from doing themselves harm (thats why its named Haley's act) then where do you stop?
There are not 800 car crash fatalities in 18 years. More like 800 per two weeks.
Just admit that this is some feel-good legislation that will force this behavior underground where intervention is less effective.
wsmith68 3 years ago
True that! You don't have to touch an animal to want to help it. Do you have to pet a polar bear to want to save it from extinction? Of course not. That's ridiculous, as people ARE helping animals they've never touched.
CachangaCaracal 3 years ago
This issue is going to be moot.
Human encroachment on exotic's habitat will not stop.
There aren't enough zoos to maintain viable numbers of exotic animals.
Therefore, without intervention (adoption of exotics as pets), they will quickly be extinct.
So, when you are supporting Haley's Act, you are supporting the forced extinction of exotic animals.
There are people who have a desire to keep these species alive and the money to back it up. Haley's Act will prevent their efforts.
wsmith68 3 years ago

bengali4tigers 3 years ago 6
Now that you are informed I hope you as the general public make the right decision FOR the animals and NOT for yourselves. I am in support of the haley's act.
bengali4tigers 3 years ago 4

We should inforce the laws that we already have and NOT create new ones.
bigcatlover01 4 years ago
Why is there the need to devour and own the entire freedom of our big cats?!! To mold and breed to our satisfaction. Were not God's gifts of beauty good enough for us humans; that we have to destroy and change their very existence? We are destroying them not loving them! They were not meant to be owned like a rag doll. THEY WERE BORN FREE!

This act is the worst thing that could happen we have to learn to Properly Train and deal with animals. We Cant Blame Animals for the wrong doing of their owners. Peace and Love!
CanadianBeaver 4 years ago
This act does not blame the animals it aids in protecting these animals. The tiger that attacked Haley had been around humans from the day it was born and the tiger that attacked Roy horn was suppossed to be one of the most highly trained animals in the industry. You cannot undo years of evolutionary work that easily. These incidences prove that.
allysia02 4 years ago 3
So you agree with the fact that these people only use these animals as props and then get rid of them after theya re no longer useful. You cannot train a wild animal. You may subdue it's natural tendencies for awhile and it may get used to you but its is still wild. And it is arrogant of humans to believe we can go ahead and change that. The animals always suffer for man's arrogance.
RachelB417 4 years ago
Yes animals can be Trained and maintained Explain Wolves and Horses and Bears Birds all domesticated Animals started out as wild. so again I say it is about time that owners are held to account for the Treatment and care of these Animals. its easy to say its how the Animal reactes instead of asking why did the Owner not ensure the animal is prepared for anything and if its not why take a chance.
when Money is the answer we should Rethink the problem. Peace and Love!
CanadianBeaver 4 years ago
it took mankind 100,000 years to domesticate the wolves and turn them into dogs same with horses and other domesticated animals. I and the video both agree with you, that it is not the animal's fault and it is the people's fault. However the tiger ended up suffering for its owner's mistake. Haley's act would increase the fines that these owneres would have to pay if they violate the law. These animals will always be wild, so why put them and the public at risk?
RachelB417 4 years ago 6
if we dont Educate the animals and the PPL we will continue to Live with the Thought that we are Unable to Live together in peace and in fact I have seen Educted Trainers who have been able to not Only work with Animals but work for them.they will not always be wild as you said Ignorance of the past took Longer to Find Wisdom and the Education of today can make a sanctuary for Animals and PPL to Live as one. when we make things Taboo we allow Ignorance to Rule the day.
CanadianBeaver 4 years ago
sorry but in my mind exploitation of animals will always be a taboo, but I thank you for your comments.
G5242 4 years ago
explotation of animals it is about ignorance.

G5242 4 years ago
I do believe in the power of education and that is why I am imploring you to educate yourself, not only on what the Haley's Act is but on how to argue your points without resorting to name calling.

once again we are comparing cars to tigers. Once again we do not consider the tiger, only our want of touching one.
Once again we do not discuss the fact that these animals are replaced every few months your comments have already been addressed.

We have a long way to go when it comes to learning respect for nature. Thankfully we've got some people who are action oriented and thoughtful enough to remind us of how to go about it by posting videos such as this. Keep up the good work! =^..^=

Wild animals are not pets and belong in their natural habitat.
mycatranch 4 years ago 4
This is a good thing to see. Wild animals are not pets and shouldn't be treated like props and photo accessories. I wholeheartedly support this law.
saxy555 4 years ago
"Responsible" people don't make pets of wild animals.
SecretLawAttraction 4 years ago 3
Supporters of private ownership love to say that their way is better than nature's way but look at where that attitude has gotten us. It has given us global warming, extinction of many of the earth's species at an alarming rate, depletion of our natural resources. These animals know better than us how to take care of themselves.
allysia02 4 years ago 2
We need to stop fooling ourselves and start getting serious about habitat conservation because that is where the future for these animals lies, not in someone's backyard
allysia02 4 years ago 3
Best is to hold people responsible for their actions, not turn to the government to hold us all imprissoned by another law
drillerdominique 4 years ago
the animals are the one imprisoned. Haley's act is to protect them as well. It is not always about us as humans and what we believe we have a right to, think about them as well.
allysia02 4 years ago 3
The pet tiger that was found dead in Texas on Christmas day really disturbed me. The fact that the person was able to get away with this cruelty showed me that there is need for stronger laws over the people owning these animals!
G5242 4 years ago
I agree completely. Acts like this should have much more severe consequences. And laws definitely need to be stepped up to prevent more animals from suffering a similar fate!
CachangaCaracal 4 years ago 4
The animals look so sad in cages..
they dont have that twinkle of freedom in their eyes any more... I think people should just leave them in the wild, where they were ment to be.. in the wild..
SnowLeopardQueen 4 years ago 3
wild animals are exactly that, wild. what a tragedy.when provoked the animal will save itself and become savage, but that is its nature. so sad............. thanks for posting 7wolfs

well done its true any wild animal even if you think its tame needs only a small mistake by anything and its hunting instincts will prevail its only natural you cant blame the cat only the people that do this good luck on getting this bill passed
7wolfs 4 years ago 4
Nice video, well produced, but riddled with misleading statements. No one has died from a big cat cub (under 4 months) attack. 25 children (under age 14) were killed by toys in 2001 alone, ban toys?
No, the animals aren't killed. It is admirable that you "FEEL" this way, but they are your feelings and you want them to be imposed on others.
You didn't mention animals being born into the pet trade.
REXANOEXOTICS 4 years ago
thank you for your comment and thank you for your concern but I have done my research and the incidences i am referring to have been documented and you will be able to find them with a little research if you have questions as to where you can find them you can leave me a message. Also i'm not sure where in the video i referred to animals being killed I was questioning whether these places had enough money and land to house all of the cats they produce.
G5242 4 years ago
and I find that most people I talk to about the Haley's act actually approve of it and so far the only opposition I see are from private owners or from places that let you take your picture with these animals, which is understandable. I statred out the video by saying I didn't mean to impose anything on anybody this is just my personal feelings. Thank you
G5242 4 years ago
you go g5242! Frankly I find people that compare toys to tigers as slightly ridiculous!how are you going to compare an inheritantly dangerous animal, a PREDATOR! with its own free will to inanimate object. Most of the death due to toys were because the consumers used it incorrectly or poor manufacturing. How then is it surprising that there will be more death from toys than captive tigers.
bengali4tigers 4 years ago 2
hmm toys more dangerous than a tiger? I wonder what toys they let their children play with? Oh that would be said tiger!
RachelB417 4 years ago 2
Thank you G5242 for posting this most important information... I agree with this decision 101%, for all of the reasons listed, excellent, I am happy to hear this... lovingflame

What happened to this young woman was tragic. The problem is not a need for more laws, it is getting proper enforcement of current laws. If the current law had been enforced, this would not have happened.
oreshasta 4 years ago
The reason he used the 550 pound tiger in the first place was because the cubs were too energetic and wouldn't stay still for the photo. By making it illegal to touch all cats at any age there would have been no expectation from the public to have their picture taken with a tiger that day then the owner wouldn't have felt obligated to the point where he broke the law.
howlingwild 4 years ago
Finally someone with common sense! When are people going to realize that we need to be accountable for what we do?We don't need to have another law passed, and then another, and another to keep this kind of a tragedy from happening, what we NEED is for the public to be held responsible for what they decide to do, or not to do. How many teenagers are killed in drunk driving accidents? How many teenagers and young adults are killed at parties? Now, how many are killed by tigers?
zero01101 4 years ago
when animals are killed for following their instincts they are the ones held accounatble for what we as the public do. don't forget two individuals died that day Haley AND the tiger.
allysia02 4 years ago 4
Brilliant! Wonderfully presented. Direct and to the point.
We MUST ask ourselves whenever and wherever we see animals being used for entertainment or photo ops - WHERE are they coming from? And WHERE do they really, really belong? You have helped us all answer this question. BRAVO!

Absolutely Superb; Accurate in every detail. And it sounds good to me!! Both good for humans and good for the exploitation of the animals. When man learns to respect our wild life then perhaps we can respect ourselves and learn to live together in peace! Well done.
75cliffe 4 years ago 3
I completely agree with this video I do believe we need stronger laws protecting these animals in captivity. It is a pity they are there in the first place so it is up to us to make sure they have the best life possible, Haley's act is one step further in protecting them!
allysia02 4 years ago 5
We live in a topsy-turvy world, with more tigers in captivity in the United States than remaining in the wild, where they belong! Thanks for helping to set it right.

I am deeply touched that you care enough to really get to the root of the issue and explain it in such a simple and elegant manner. I would like your permission to host this on our website and to send it to the members of Congress who can get this law passed this year. I would encourage others here to write their legislators with an easy, click and send letter at CatLaws dot com. Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
