  • Kermit was telling Don that it was currently not a sunny day, but a rainy and stormy night. It was also a dark sky.

  • I'm suprised this guy doesn't get brain damage.

  • @MrJaxreid He's a muppet, that's why.

  • Does anyone have the sketch when Don Music writes "Old MacDonald Had a Farm"?

  • Why does Don Music speak like Pepe Le Pew?

  • Hear the full setting? Kermit did all the work.

  • Ah, the memories of this adorable sketch! Poor Don! :)

  • I Think That Don Music Is Going To Need An Asprin From Banging His Head On The Piano.

  • heh, I remember this one.

  • If The Sky Is Dark, HOW CAN IT

    BE A SUNNY DAY???!!!

  • If Don got flustered with the themes of TMS and FR, it'd be thusly...

"It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights"...*plays the rest of the theme instrumentally to try and remember the rest*

"Dance your cares away. Worry's for another day. Let the music play. Down at..." Argh! Down to where? I'll never get it! *bangs head*

  • Love the hair, Don. Sharp!

  • "Don? Don...?" "YEEEEEEEESSS??????" and why is Don suddenly green..?

  • @alannadainekelaly Wrong tint settings on the original source's capture

  • "Don? Don...?" "YEEEEEEEESSS??????"

  • The Green and the Lavender Alphabeats have their regular performers in this skecth, right?

  • Five people will never get it, never, ever.

  • at 1:20, Don Music says that he knows how to get to the barber shop? he looks like he's never stepped into one with those long locks. but I do love those crazy long haired musician types...no matter how neurotic they are.

  • hahahhaha i play the piano and when i cant get something right i ll say "OHHH......ILL NEVER GET IT!!!!!" just like him lol

  • i like that too

  • no kidding

  • Thumbs up is LDT brough you here

  • @AtomicComicNerd Haha yea Man it brought me here but I think People are startin to realize its kinda lame to say LDT on every video they comment on in their podcasts

  • who is the guy in that pic at the beginning?

  • @djmrnelson the late Joe Raposo.

  • @djmrnelson According to wikipedia, it's a photograph of Sesame Street composer Joe Raposo.

  • @pantherbuff89 thanks. because that pic is on a couple of their videos. Weird looking dude.

  • Ha ha, Don Music, hilarious as usual!

    Kermit: Oh Don?

    Don Music: Yeeeeess?? :-D

Sometimes I say "yes" like that when my parents call my name.

  • I wonder why Kermit is doing Sesame Street news report very late at night, especially when it's late a stormy night.

  • It was probably for the 11 o'clock news. lol

  • Yes, that can also be true.

  • this why i love seasme street

    Its so Hilariously funny

  • the end was the best...haha!

  • I love Don Music and I never slammed my head on the piano. Know why? I had RESPONSIBLE PARENTS that told me "that's silly, you don't do that."

See, it's simple. Parents need to be RESPONSIBLE.

  • @kagomeshuko I agree! I watched him all the time when I was a kid and not once did I want to slam my head into a piano.

    Don Music was cool!

  • @kagomeshuko Brought to you by the letters 'I' and 'Q' for IQ!

  • @kagomeshuko Damn right!

  • Don always get frustrated with his songs. Kermit tries to help him in many ways

  • uuhh...yellow stone park,

    kkkkk

  • Dr Teeth, Rolf, Don Music - theyre all great!

  • If Don Music was still around, his pouting and whining would make him a contestant on America's Next Top Model. Tyra would definitely whip some sense into him.

  • Don's voice reminds me of Side show Bob's voice on the Simpsons.

  • Same here.

  • TURN IT DOWN!!!!! Who recorded this at such a high volume??? My earphones were on quiet, and I just lost half my hearing!

    Great video, btw.

  • This is one of the only characters that was "retired" cuz kids were hurting themselves slamming their heads on the piano (including me!!)

  • Slamming your head on stuff when you're frustrated: a good example for the kiddies!!

  • Someone needs to raise jim henson from the grave and save sesame street. they need to rid of all the new gay characters.

  • Amen to that.

  • I LOVE DON MUSIC. the end.

  • Yeah, me too! If you hear from somebody that has those in English, please be sure to have him/her upload them for me and everyone else. Including you.

  • LOVE IT. Btw lots of ppl saying SS has gone downhill and i couldn't agree more Elmo's World is awful BUT it isn't due to so much a need for 'political correctness'. The reason the show is lame is actually b/c great performers/writers have died/left and viewer's age got lower, so they need baby-oriented stuff. Older young kids nowadays watch less tv and go more online/video games or watch older kids shows, so they're not as important an audience to cater to anymore for them.

  • Sesame Street's recent changes actually are mostly because of evolving research. The show has always, from day one, been on current educational research. About 10 years ago they saw that the research indicated that contrary to results from decades earlier, and to what they'd assumed all that time, kids would pay attention to longer sequences and responded well to consistent schedules. These things were the opposite of Sesame Street's freewheeling, spontaneous magazine format. (continued)

  • (cont) During the 90s they'd been losing viewers to shows with simpler, more consistent formats, like Blue's Clues. (They actually lost about a third of their audience between 1990 and 1995). So eventually they overhauled the format, and changed the tone to something simpler and less smart-alecky. And despite what we adult viewers might think, it worked. Sesame Street's viewership went up because of the changes.

Whatever reaches kids is good, but still----I miss the old show anyway.

  • I agree. Change is good, and we really can't do anything about it. That's why Sesame Workshop put the Old School DVD sets on the shelves for us old school SS fans, like me.

Actually, I'm half-and-half. I'm a fan of both the old stuff and the new stuff.

  • Don should just make Kermit his muse, he cant seem to write a song without him, ha!!

  • Sometimes you might wonder that if the sky is dark, how can it be a sunny day? That's something you'd wonder for which Don Music had said.

  • Kermit: Oh Don?

    Don Music: Yeeeesss?!?

That part at the beginning around 0:30 was funny - it reminded me of Frank Nelson off of the Jack Benny Show

  • Yellowstone park is in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.

  • I've always wanted to go to Yellowstone Park to have some fun. How about you guys?

  • As long as it's not a stormy night. ;-)

  • I would suggest he do something less harmful as a way of expressing anger.

  • Don Music needs to be more positive.

He seems to get discouraged easily.

If I were his therapist, I would focus on that. I would focus on his positive achievements. I would emphasize positivity.

  • I think it's too stormy for Kermit to be heading for Sesame Street now. Perhaps Don has a spare bedroom.

  • Kermit: It's not a sunny day. It's a stormy night.

    Don: It is?

Don isn't too observant, is he?

  • At the end after Kermit asked Don (which was the rhyme for sweet) if he could tell Kermit how to get to Sesame Street, Don Music sighed and played a weird solo on the piano and then banged his head which appeared on 3:53. Why is that?

  • I think because he suddenly realized that "Sesame Street" was what he was looking for all along.

  • That solo is a musical translation of "Jeez, I'm an IDIOT."

  • Okay, then.

  • @finnishminnow

That was ithe in-joke - That WAS the rhyme for "sweet" Don was supposed to have used :)

  • Yep.

  • Thanks so much for reposting this.

  • Comment removed

  • Does Kermit say "I'll take that as a 'no'" after Don bangs his head at the end? It doesn't seem that Don would know how to get to the barbershop because his hair's a mess If Don came back, who would perform him? & Can someone synch the end song to Brownstone Park scenes from Disney cartoons?

  • Oh, I'm sure Don knows the way to the barbershop. I think he likes his hair that because it's similar to that of Ludwig von Beethoven, his artistic idol. He probably knows he must occasionally get a haircut. In fact, maybe that's why he was such an occasional character. Notice how his sketches often premiered a short while between each other (did you understand that, by the way?)? Maybe this is because refused to appear on screen with short hair.

  • Ahhhhhh.... Don Music. He's my Idol. I just loooooooove Don Music. But that's enough about Don Music; let's talk about ME!

I am a music composition student at Indiana University. As a reviewer, I try to be as objective as possible, by judging a piece of music on its compositional merits, not on its hipness or style. However, like every reviewer, I have my biases.

  • When I was in 2nd grade the teacher was out of the room and I went to the piano imitated Don music. Of course I couldn't play the piano, so I exagerated the headbanging on the keys. I'll never forget the sudden, akward silence when the teacher came back in to the room. I got sent to the principal's office. LOL This clip is the best!

  • "Not particularly" at the end sums up the relationship of Don & Kermit. LOVE IT. This is a favorite of mine as it was a repressed memory. I saw this as a child and it STUCK with me and I never forgot this I could sing this version of sesame street whenever I wanted too. I have since watched the other clips and Don and Kermit are entertainers for all ages. They are all great, but Yankee Doodle is the extended version and must be the pick. Oh, btw was Little Chrissy based on Jeff Lynne?

  • love it!

  • I don't know why, but I LOVE the way he said "Yes, yes, I know how to get to the library!"

  • anyone get the feeling that this actually happened when the real theme for sesame street was written back in 1969?

  • i know! its just sad.. and wrong!

  • lol!! thats one of the funnyest things everrr

god I LOVEE THE SESAME STREET!!

    ginious

  • Ditto!

Obviously, our childhood has been destroyed 'cause they don't do anything this classic anymore. Especially with Jim Henson, and Richard Hunt out of our lives, and Frank Oz not performing his muppets as frequently as he used to.

  • i know! its just sad and wrong

  • Yes, you are right on the money. Since Jim Henson & others have passed on Sesame Street has gone downhill. Elmo has taken over way too much and the program is more for black & hispanic kids and gifted children. My step brothers sister also agrees with this and she is an elementary school teacher. I miss all the Don Music skits and many good old ones including the counting segement with the baker and that song about pockets which my mom sang along when it was on.

  • Well actually, Sesame Street was originally created specifically for urban (read black and hispanic) kids who lived in disadvantaged neighborhoods. The whole purpose was to give them a chance to start school armed with the same things that their more affluent counterparts would have. The problem, some argue, is that since ALL kids everywhere watched it, it lifted all boats equally, so even though the kids learned, the gap remained.

  • I almost pee my pants everytime I see this. I don't care how old I am, LOL, it still makes me laugh. I want to get a piano to bang my head when I get frustrated.

  • people are too worried that tv will make people do things. a whole generate watched Don bang hes head on a piano and we all turned out just fine.

  • lol I used to bang on my grandma's piano XD (but not with my head) :D

  • See? tv doesn't influence you in the slightest. I watched this show every day and I STILL can't spell.

  • @Lymmar: Actually, some did bang their heads and get into trouble, hence why he was retired.

  • I love how Kermit's voice goes up on "park."

  • LOL!!!!!!!

  • Oh man, I was singing this at school today. Nobody recognized it (the lyrics, I mean; of course everyone knew what the tune was), but it was still a big hit!

  • I can tell u how to get to fraggle rock u take a left at sesame street a right at the muppet show stage and go past a trash heap that talks into a rock and ur at fraggle rock

  • if he knows how to get to the barber shop, how come he has such abad hair due lol

  • i liked don music too cuz he reminds me of me when things didn't work out i'd get agravated then things would would come to me and work out. he's such a realistic character, they should have more of him, less of elmo

  • l love u melissa, i couldnt agree more with you. Elmo really fucked up things at sesame street big time. Its way to campy, corny, and politically correct.

  • I'd like to see him try and rewrite the "Muppet Show" and "Fraggle Rock" themes.

  • Floyd tried it with "The Muppet Show" theme...it turned out weird. Don't mess with a classic. (unless you like Zappa)

  • It did turn out weird...but I kinda liked it. And yes, I do like Zappa. (Anyone have a copy of "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 2" used?)

  • oh my god. i haven't seen this one in years. this one was the best

  • I admit, my brothers and I actually did bang our heads on the piano... but it helped us get out our frustration, and then we'd try again! Just like Don!

  • Well, I hope you too didn't get hurt after doing that like him.

  • Whoa. Interesting. I just read on IMDb this character was banned and wanted to see if there was footage of him here. I actually remember seeing him when I was younger, but never knew his name. Only skit I recall was of him forgetting and rewriting the words to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Apparently that was his schtick.

  • How to get to Fraggle Rock? lol

  • Simple...just try and find Doc & Sprocket's workshop (remember, they've moved to the desert now). Once you're there, the Fraggle hole is relatively easy to find. :)

  • lol lucky him i always wanted a fraggle hole insteadi get mice holes i don't think it's the same cuz I never hear any music in the walls lol

  • melissa: How to get to Fraggle Rock...take the corner at 123 Sesame Street, to the left of The Muppet Show theature, and into a workshop and in the workshop, there is a fraggle hole that leads "Down at Fraggle Rock".

  • All the Don Music skits are great. They teach thinking and creativity skills. I would like to have a word with all the parents that complained about him.

  • Out of all the Don Music skits ever made. This is my absolute Favorite.

  • Mine too.

  • I love how the ending falls into place!

  • hehehehe... I found that I'm quite like that... I can write a good beginning and middle, but the end I struggle with when I write...

  • This is poetry. :)

  • "How to get to Sesame Street?" LOL!

  • How to get to...Yellowstone Park?

  • I used to hate it when he went berserk and bang is head.

  • Comment removed

  • "Oh I'll never get it right! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!" (Bangs head on piano)

  • I think that Kermit Should Join In The Song With Don Music

  • Yeah, me too!

  • I love this video. I like it at the end when Kermit says can you tell me how to get how to get to Seseme Street? Then Don bangs his head on the piano so funny.

  • That's because he realized that "Sesame Street" was the word he was looking for all along. That's why he played a weird solo on the piano and banged his head on the piano so funny.

  • Don Music should perform at a heavy metal concert. He'd fit right in there. It appears he has "head banging" down to an art! HA HA HA! Good one?

  • FredFlu1: Too bad Richard Hunt--Don Music's performer--is no longer with us and Don Music himself is basically in retirement because parents called the horn on him after children imitated his piano head-banging.

  • Now that sounds like a good idea, man.

  • Yay! Thanks a lot. :)
