Bio: Austin McBride has been doing Break Dancing for 4 years, featuring himself in about 6 clubs. He says break dancing is great for exercise and to impress friends

    _________________________

so why is he doin a piano video?

  • why can't he just call it a pentatonic blues scale?

  • blues, not jazz

  • Trololol. I really hope this guy isn't being serious.

  • How DUMB are people on Youtube?? The video's a joke. Everyone needs to lighten up.

  • Huh?

  • smurky smurky face.

  • smurk face at the end.

  • STOP POLLUTING JAZZ

  • He should be cornered to a wall and have rotten eggs thrown at him.....

  • I have nothing clever to say. LIKE MY COMMENT :) :)

  • where exactly are the experts in this village?

  • you look so smug at the end of this. and my question is why? doucher.

  • @lprocker89 he made the troll face at the end. hes nothing but the biggest troll in the world

  • that sucked in every way possible.

  • @demsi2004 It is the "Blues Scale" but it's used plenty in jazz. Not that I'm suggesting this video has any educational worth however. It's clearly a joke...I hope.

  • 54 people being sarcastic?

  • Want to know about useful scales? Check Pentatonic usually associated blues/ R&B; then check out the various modes regularly used in jazz. This will serve you better than this nonesense.

  • That's blue scale not jazz

  • Shocking, shocking...

  • du en klovn.

  • He sounds like a slave who's going to be raped if he doesn't make this video.

  • haha:D

  • If you are new to piano, you can probably find something useful in this video. If you are a pianist and are hating on this video, it makes me wonder why your ego is so frail that you need to trash this man. Can you teach better? Great. YOU make a video and show us how wonderful you really are.

  • @crjoker No, there is nothing useful in this video. You will start with bad bases/

  • Dude, i don't know either you are right or wrong. well, i think, people, you'd better go find music teacher, learn from he or she directly, and do practice... you'll just gain nothing from watching these kinds of sucking tutorial videos.

  • You might wanna mention that this actually is a blues scale..?

  • @Madskiel NO STUPID!!! ITS THE JAZZ SCALE!!! LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

  • This is the 7th video of his that I've watched. The first two videos I was pissed at his ignorance. The second two I was confused as to how he could be so uninformed. The third two I was wondering if this is actually a joke that's going over my head. Now, I'm laughing....because I totally get it.

This is extremely dry humor, and pretty witty on many levels.

  • wtf..? does this guy even play piano? like does he even know the basic notes..?

  • EXPERT VILLAGE IS FULL OF RETARDS

  • Seriously this is really crappy. Can everybody please note that ? I saw a video of this very same guy, about 'playing in 5/4'. It consisted of 2 minutes of talking talking talking... and then half a minute of music that wasn't (or hardly) in 5/4 at all.

Why are all you people wasting your time watching this ? Okay I gotta give it to ye, it's funny... :-) But you ain't gonna learn nuttin' !

  • 1. Get your piano tuned

    2. Start studying (how about some fingering ?)

    3. Stop posting this video's

    4. Dude, what are you smoking ?

  • Thanks! It never occurred to me that it's all just based on that same fourth and F#.. now it's all starting to make sense

  • ey are those spray on jeans?

  • I Love these great videos with Austin McBride. Now I can also play jazz piano, and it´s much easier with McBrides style than ex. Oscar Peterson, Keith Jarrett and so on...

  • Seriously, seriously. Please do not attempt to learn anything from expert village. Seek out a professional musician.

  • why do they have a break dancer trying to teach us jazz?

  • " triads are insufficent for jazz" John Mehegan This defies Parker when he said "theres no such thing as a wrong note" I don't uasally judge people's attempts to share but if you want to learn jazz you must consider another perspective. This is just ^@#*&!

  • Can't see a damn thing for all the text........

  • ok...no offence...they are blues scales...jazz scales are very different and infact can b wot ever u want them to be thats jazz...sorry 2 b negative but its just the truth

  • Austin McBride should get some serious help!

  • why are you guys still making videos? every one i have watched is shite.

  • Tune your fucking piano.

  • Expert village can't teach you to do the following

    1) Play piano

    2) Play cricket

    3)PROPERLY play guitar

some misleading experts they turn out to be...

  • they can't play piano why do they have so much viewers

  • LOL ? why the hell would you play a blue scale like that?

  • You can take that and move it up a few keys. Follow the exact same pattern; whole NOTE, whole NOTE *fumbles wrong notes* *nervous laughter* so you can see it basically can run anywhere throughout the entire piano.

    What a joke

  • WHAT AN EXPERT!!!!!! -_-

  • can he even play piano?

  • "dissident noises"???lol

    does he even like jazz?

  • This is pathetic.

  • More like RookyVillage

  • Thas messed up man, LOL @Dadee3

  • @latinkeys1 It's true lolz!!!!

  • r u tryin to help us or ruin these students who watch ur vid.

  • I have not laughed so much in a long time. proper out loud belly laughs. you are ace. you win the award for the bext expert on expert village by FAR. I'm learning so much.

  • I think "Expert Village" is an ironic name, don't y'all think so?

    haha

  • @dudeguy927 lool

  • this isn't a jazzz mode, it's the blues scale!

  • He might be able to play, but he definitely can NOT teach!!!

  • Total amateur! Get the piano tuned!!

  • that's pentatonic scale in blues...that's in Cminor...your holding 5 keys in that scale...C, Eb, F, G, Bb, and then C....simply add F# between F and G.!!!!that's so basic man....we want more scales....

  • I don't know about ur fingering, but I think ur fingering keys are wrong when u do that C jazz scale, which I assume.

  • The joke is on you guys. If you watch more of this guys videos you'll see that he's actually taking the piss. it's all subtle parody. you all failed.

  • So why the hell is expert village behind it? I doubt they'd think it was funny to lose credibility!

  • the reason he's doing it is to mock expert village, as in to say "these are the kinds of 'experts' you find giving you tips on Expert Village."

  • so should't he have made more obvious. if someones a beginner musician, they wouldn't know the difference. stop making excuses for him. if it was supposed to be a joke it should've been funny at least

  • If he was serious, he wouldnt post this version of the video where he clearly fails to show the scale in any other key. If he didnt know the scale in other keys, he wouldnt have mentioned it! That was one give away. That and the laughable fingering. That and calling the blues scale a 'jazz scale'.

Also, re 'expert village being behind it' and their credibility etc. Have a close look at some more expert village videos, I can't help but wonder if the whole thing is a very subtle parody.

  • why the hell does he keep teaching blues?????!!!! that was a freakin blues scale!!!! expert my ass!!

  • @kalpal67 LMao the same thing i was thinking

  • every exp village video i watched has been shitty

  • ur piano is soooooooo out of tune!!

  • you cant learn jazz its in yo soul

  • is he suppose to teach something?

i dont get it there's no such expert about this.

and most importantly there is NO JAZZ IN THIS!!!

  • your glasses make me think that you play really big shit,,but what is that,,hey if you have more what are you waiting for everybody play jazz today everyone hey come oon play play more more than that,

  • poor show lol

  • dude, you need to tune your instrument

  • and all sorts on noises epic fail 1:15

  • 8/10

  • This isn't jazz man. This is a very novice blues scale, in the easiest key to play blues in-C. Play a whole tone scale over a Gb13b5 (C7#5#9). No offense, but you shouldn't title this video "Jazz Piano Scales", rather "Novice Blues Scale in C maj".

  • Comment removed

  • man this is not jazz

  • hahahaha thats the blues scale you fucking idiot

  • i agree with everyone

  • wtf thats a blues scale and a very sucky improv

  • Fuck expert village!

  • Jazz????

  • not a fake blues scale but in fact The blues scale, jazz is ii V7 i over which, if there are no altered chords, you can play the major scale of the one as rudimentary accompaniment, but in music FEEL is the most important thing of all, you can play just one note with FEEL and it will sound good, FEEL man, FEEL is the most important

  • not jazz. That's a fake blues scale

  • ... How is it a "fake" blues scale? It either is a blues scale or it isn't. And it is.

  • Comment removed

  • LMFAO i can imagine a budding jazz student looking at this video for the first time and knowing 1000 times as much as this guy.... whoever you are you need to stop kidding yourself into thinking you know how to play jazz - sorry for the hating but hopefuly its constructive

  • LOL does this guy actually know what jazz is?? WOW.

  • he doesn't seem like an expert.. he belongs in intermediatevillage haha

  • Ma cos'è sto gran pasticcio??

  • "slightly dissonant rubbing sound"

  • yea hea taking the mick out of expert village, google him

  • These are called bluenotes

  • jazz, or blues scales, doesn't exist, what exist are scales that sound more jazziest (in Argentina jazzeras) , or more bluesiest, the scales he teaches, its the Cm pentatonic scale, that is really for begginers, dont take this lesson as usefull is really simple and bad teached.

  • ok... if it's a bad teaching ... then what is a good teaching then ??? well i'm a beginner... so could u show mi ???

  • Isn't that a blues scale?

  • @Slimdrum yep that's the blus scale

  • he makes it sound so simple... but it's not

  • Dude this is why you should NOT do drugs

  • i hope this was a joke. someone else please say he sucks so i dont have to

  • He sucks : )

    (You're welcome mattsteeper xD )

  • thats the blues scale

  • expert village always sucks wth

    yeah real "expert"

i need a real jazz teacher

  • It can run anywhere throughout the entire piano!

  • This is your brain on drugs....

  • This one is a classic....

  • lol! this guy is so bad i've been watching a few of his videos. he can only play in C, did you see when he tried to switched keys? he messed up and tried to laugh it off!

  • i agree he must have be stoned... must have thought he had discovered a breakthrough the playing of the piano---jazz style!!! ha ha ha - sorry thats harsh...

    interesting really, thanks for sharingl!

  • Nice Grand. Someone's doing well.

  • Normally it's the people with lesser knowledge around them that call them experts. to quote B.B. King " im almost 80 years old and I still learn something new about music everyday" amen brother, never has a truer word been spoken. Music is about more then knowing what notes to play.

  • Comment removed

  • bummer, 16,747 people now think ur an idiot

  • noises :D

  • "Hi, I'm Austin McBride with expertvillage, here to talk a little bit about weed..." Dude sounds stoned. When he said keys and scales I thought he was gonna talk about weighing up your shit.

  • that was a blues scale!

  • Thanks for trying, man. (boo) :_(

  • its the jazz scale u jack ass

  • noo, its definately definately the blues scale. I wont mark u down for it but is he really a jack ass?

  • hes obviously joking

  • ive really got to stop arguing on youtube anyway

  • come on man give im sm slack

  • that was a blues scale, boss... check out some Jamey Abersold books. They can teach you whats what.

  • or change the title bro

  • Great !

  • that's so funny:D

  • I like this guy because he shows a great deal of confidence. Sometimes that opens the door but your skills and talent lock u in ...

  • Ok IF you are insinuating that by "jazz" chords you mean anything that fits in outside of the typical classical scale then you are correct.

but this is like saying that anything that swims in water is a fish. Dogs, cats included.

    lol.

IF what you mean is that you were playing a "C" chord with a suspended 4th and a diminished 5th then you are correct. The 7th has nothing to do with major or minor as most readers are naturally taking by your phrasing.

    Hope this helps all. :)

  • BuuuhaaaHHHHH!!!! That's comedy gold right there. WTF!

  • moron!

  • Is Jazz and Blues the same?......cuz i no this is a blues chord

  • THIS GUY SUCKS...really bad

  • im a beginner and still thought he was as much use as radio for the deaf.

  • This guy needs to learn himself jazz piano before he makes any "expert video"...

  • I think it's a bad idea portraying this guy as an "expert". He's not bad, but the technique displayed when playing the blues scale is simply shocking!

I have no problem with people uploading videos for beginners so long as they are teaching the right things and not posing as "Experts"!

  • Lol, you've finally admitted you know nothing about Jazz. All based on the that same Jazz Scale, wtf! Your playing is terrible.

What's all this dropped business? You ain't get a friggn clue about the piano or Jazz even.

    C minor dropped down to a C7..?????

Pull in this 3rd note here and all gain different noises - LMFAO

Have you got a gun pointed to your head to make this video or something?

  • This is the blue scale...

  • THANKS FOR YOUR POST AUSTIN McBRIDE.

  • das ist eine beleidigung für jeden jazzer -.-

  • I think expertvillage just grabbed somebody off the street to shoot a video. Notice how expert village is never really "expert" about anything...

  • "and that's a few different scales and keys we can work with here in jazz music"

Yea, man! I really dig that "rubbing" sound!

  • Why are you wasting your time writing critisisms....

  • Hey people this guy was only showing (say a beginner)the basic blues scale in "C" don't be so critical because you all are advanced players like myself. There are beginners who would not know what a "blues scale" was

    Janet

  • i hope your band plays always in c

  • OMG you have absolutely no idea about music, let alone jazz!

You obviously have no concept of what a key, scale, or jazz is - you just sound as though somebody told you a blues scale and now you think you know jazz piano.

Pathetic - its actually quite insulting that people who watch this think that you are instructing jazz. Please don't listen to this guy he has no idea what he is on about,

  • this guy does not have a clue about piano

  • hahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahha

  • Well mr MusicGuru12...if you knew any better you would know that jazz was derived from blues and even the blues scale is used WIDELY in jazz

  • admit it - you really don't know anything about playing the piano, do you!

  • so blues

  • It's just a C major pentatonic with a blue note.

    Nothing special.

  • not so good... don't like that BLUES scale

  • That's the blues scale...

    This isn't Jazz =(

And how come you don't know how to play the Blues Scale in F? Surely that's quite basic.
