Every time I see hirst builds, I always get inspired. those basic blocks and some arches make for excellent LOTR ... but no need to tell you ;-) Thanks Bill.
I have a question for you. I know you said this terrain was designed for Warmachine, but can the bases of Warmachine figures fit through the doorway? (on the medium piece) It doesnt look like bases of Warcasters or infantry could fit through. Im pretty sure Warjacks (they have large bases) cant fit through. Id be more inclined to purchase one of those medium pieces if at least the small Warmachine models could fit through.
THANKS, bro!!! Keep up the great work!! Happy anniversary!!
Thanks Man!!!!!!! It may have moved. The bricks kind of float on the glue till it gets hard and it probably setteled alittle. What size bases does warmachine use?
Can I point out something? I think the doorway on the medium sized piece looks slightly odd. The brick above the doorway seems to be floating. I'm not sure the plaster on the sides could hold up a brick that large (unless its reinforced with metal on the inside which is possible). Maybe you could make the top of the next doorway covered by 2 halves of 2 separate bricks?
Could you visualize my suggestion? I was thinking you could have 2 bricks meet at the middle of the doorway (above it) so that each of the 2 bricks were half on the wall and half above the doorway. That way, half of the pressure of the doorway ceiling would be moved to the wall instead of it all being above the gap.
I thought of another option while looking at pictures of brick doorways. You could make it an arch instead! That would look epic.
I would definitely prefer grass over dirt. Probably because most of the gaming tables at my hobby shop are green and I like nature. Some moss on the brick would be cool, too.
Some people are saying there shouldn't be grass because the structure isn't broken much which means it doesn't look old. However, it doesn't have to be extremely weathered to be old. We're dealing with metal and pipes here so perhaps the surrounding brick was reinforced and is tough.
I would like to see it with grass aswell, thought about the buildings being old ruins that nature had taken over with moss and maby some vines climbing the walls. :)
i would say just because of all the pipes, you should mess around with havin pools of water on the base, like puddles so yu can put water effects or something on it. dunno, jut seemed like it might fit...
I love the mixture of stone and steam pipes, its going to look great painted. My only issue is that I would make the end pieces ruined, cuz they just look like unfinished buildings. Looking good though!
i seen a cpl air holes here and there..... take a drill bit and make some bullet holes around them to make it look like it is supp to be there or take a blade and make some blast marks
I was thinking about that but i think I'll do some moss with the static grass because its my NEW terrain toy!!!! I know its SAD I look at STATIC GRASS AS NEW:)!!! How the finger Bro?)!
I think the new pieces are excellent. I could see them as ruined city scape, working with dirt and rubble and overgrown by jungle...they are so versatile...it would be cool if you could vary the base...magnatize the core structure...or maybe generic and let your clients request, city rubble, sand, or grass...love the hirst molds...congrats on the anniversary, the wife and I will celebrate our 36th this July...glad you are busy doing what you enjoy doing...God Bless you both....jim.
36!!!!!!WOW JIM!!!!!! That is AWESOME!!!!! I may do that let the customer decide thing butI haven't done dirt yet and this one I may do in dirt. But thank you SO MUCH Bro. I have customised bases in the past for customers so That will probably happen any way. Take care Man and God Bless you to Man:)!
Benny, the titles would be that he is uploading the files directly from the camera to YouTube, therefore the weird names, coming directly from the camera itself..
If you do a dirt look with some small mounds of dirt, you can do small pieces of grass pushing out of the dirt every now and again. This would give it a nice battle worn Jerusalem/egypt look.
great vid but plz cut out the Uh Ah..... :)

For the warmachine terrain I would suggest that you hit it carefully with a hammer. It would add a battered look to it.
Great job by the way.

I don't have another brick that spans 2 inches. I'll look for a way to cover that door problem. Thanks!!!!:)

Looks GREAT! I'd go with dirt as it feels more neutral and it would fit with more tables and such.

Those look real nice! But I have to say, the stonework is a little too light.. If I were you I'd darken it.. But that's my opinion!! :)
And cover it with dirt. Not gras!

you should go with dirt, it seems to fit more with imperial style buidiungs. not much greenery in the imperium.
Your terrain is looking good as usual
Take care

i dont think they are 'ruined' enough for grass..
i mean they are not falling apart like most city of death terrain or our British castles :p
So mud or stone floor i think.
=)

I'd like to see some dirt rugged look with some weathering added to the stonework. And I Looovee those molds, Fireman Tim uses them all the time.
