The submarine part was the copy protection i realise now, but back then it just made the game more immersive! As long as you had the manual the submarine wasn't too bad but I am sure many just had the pirate version and no manual as their was no web and no pdf back then!
oh man, this game was great! i remember i used to get so into the sub simulation aspect of it, lol. sierra games bring back such great memories! thanks for posting this! (even if it's just the credits mostly, lol)
I'll put the rest of the game up soon - I've been preparing the Quest for Glory playthrough for one single blog-post, which meant I had to move the subtitles over from Google Video in some instances. But we'll do Iceman soon, in a couple of weeks at the most!
Hey, thanks for staying with me as I expand beyond QFG! Yeah, this game is REALLY tough, some of the 'arcade' submarine pieces especially. I'm doing it mostly as a historical curiosity, because no one has done a LP of it yet, as far as I can tell.
The worst are the "battle" sequences with the russian warships etc... I used to struggle like crazy with those! Way too hard for sierra arcade sequences! Thanks for playing :)
I feel the waves of nostalgia every time i see these old school graphics, accompanied by the name SIERRA

This is a pretty rockin' soundtrack, even in tore-up AdLib form.

I never got to play this one but I've heard that it's incredibly difficult due to the segments where you have to direct the submarine.
