This looks terrific. Has scary elements the original lacked, along with some originality (Freddy on fire). Just seems more brutal, which is what this character is supposed to be. I would love to see a full-length feature by Christopher Johnson. Hope he gets a chance someday.

I got to meet Chris at BCC a year or so ago in a class with Jason D. I really enjoyed this trailer (much more than the reboot, which despite having it's moments and a good new Freddy, didn't live up to any expectation I had, and dissapointed me). I hope he gets to realize his vision some day. I'm a huge Freddy fan, and I'd love to see this get made someday.

this trailer was so much better than the Platinum Dunes remake. The idea of him being on fire ALL THE TIME is just awesome. And his voice just has such a menacing deepness to it, where you're just like "wow, holy shit", the quality of this trailer is top notch in my opinion. I like that the Nancy of this trailer, being its in the 21st century, doesn't have to represent the new "emo" look that seems to be plaguing new horror films, and the rest of the world typically. Maybe U can do part 2!
This is a VERY well done project man! Impressive. If you'd been given the opportunity to apply the makeup and embers/burning effects to a skinnier, more gaunt looking actor this would have probably been (dare I say) the best Freddy concept to date IMO. It seems you kind of kept Michael Bays' overall style in mind as you created this- a kind of Texas Chainsaw remake essence to it with the coroner affirmation and the pre-nightmare Freddy...which was very cool. Very nice indeed!
I really like this idea. It won't work throughout an entire movie, but it looks great in short bursts. The only problem now is how do we go on after the new movie came out. Freddy is now a pedaphile and not all that scary, just a creepshow. I really appreciate your enthusiasm for this piece. I wish the makers of the new movie would have had that same feeling.

I think the director of this short trailer should of gotten the job of making the remake cause quite honestly just the long shots of freddy in this film are quite scary in there own way. No disrespect to the actor who played in the 2010 remake he is an amazing actor, can't remember his name but. Well, the reviews for the remake are already rolling in, and not for the better (Surprise! Surprise!). I already thought the Freddy in this "concept" trailer was far more scarier than the one played by Jackie Earle Haley in the remake. Hopefully, Chris will get his chance, someday. The idea of a Freddy Krueger that walks around while still on fire is brilliant!

Booooo to Platinum Dunes for not recognizing and using this concept. They had a real opportunity to take a chance on a fresh new idea... you don't reach true greatness without risk. I think they played it safe and they'll probably just end up rehashing a better looking version of the original, like all their other remakes. All of which were just mediocre and relied on the name to sell tickets, not the quality.

@tjonahue Chris produced a Halloween mask version of the make-up from this teaser and auctioned several off on ebay last October. There may be a few still floating around out there.
The actual make-up from the teaser was also auctioned off on ebay and unfortunately, there are no more items to be sold. Feel free to email at the address on the Elm Street Teaser Channel main page (won't let me post it here)... Chris has made one or two special sets and sold them, but they're pricey.
to be totally honest with you....i thinnk this fan trailer is 10 times better than the actual trailer of the remake....i think we are all going to be dissapointed with the new elm street film.....this trailer done by christopher johnson hits all the horror suspense categories...the way freddy looks and his voice and the fire coming from him is awesome and the autopsy scene looked brilliant. its puts a scare into us fans and its not even the real movie.....the make up was spot on and everythin

I watched all 4 videos, and dude I have to say.... I FUCKING LOVED IT!!!, The idea that Freddy of being a burn victim playing into his character more than with his appearance is awesome! The girl you had was also very good, even though she only had a few lines, she really showed the fear that made it believable. Especially when she got dragged out of screen... I want you to turn this into something bigger. I want to see at least 30mins come out of what you have here, if not more. Hit me back man

Have you thought about trying to sell them some of your ideas? I like your Freddy better I understand that they want to "make him look like a real burn victim" but they changed what made Freddy who he is, his look is a major part of why he was frightening. He doesn't look scary anymore. You can't make out his facial features anymore; they basically put a mask on him and that was one of the main reason Wes craven made Freddy look like he made him look. he wanted people to be able to see his face.
The business doesn't really work like that. In artistic/business endeavors such as film, people, producers, directors, etc., are all generally partial to their ideas. Platinum dunes "likes their Freddy better," so to speak. So, rightfully so, they would not really be interested in buying Chris' ideas unless they were interested in his direction in general, and they've chosen a different direction to go in. This happens routinely, sometimes to much success, sometimes to fans disapproval.
@ElmStreetTeaser Well if they like the originals, I don't see this version being a hit, because this isnt going to be one of those movies that you will be able to watch and take it as it is. If you have any knowledge of the original movies, the new Freddy is going to hurt the movie. In my opinion the true victim in this film is the character of Freddy Kruger

Much closer to Wes Craven's original concept that the villain would be something dark and tap into fears deep down and primeval. Besides, this would scare the shit out of me compared to the lame-ass sock-puppet muppet that is Kruger in the Platinum Dunes remake. After the other failed reboots (yes, Rob Zombie...you too) I really don't have many hopes. :(

"Demon" Freddy in the films has always been laughable. This is primal, and terrifying, but the thing is... this would be the "normal" Freddy. He was scary before, but this seems un-fightable... that's what makes this vision click for me. Kudos. Seriously, a great take on an iconic character.

I am really not keen on the idea of film remakes, especially when the originals were great. However, I gotta say, this concept trailer came out excellent. I think it's better than the real trailer for the upcoming movie. If they weren't going to stick to the original as far as casting, writing, and makeup even, then they should have at least stuck close to this. I'm not so sure I'll be seeing the remake, but if this was the trailer for the remake, I'd DEFINITELY see it. Sick effects. Five stars.
Personally if this would ever become a movie the only reason I probably not like this is because of the Actor for Freddy, He is too bulky, like he is meant for Jason Voorhees, Other than that this is awesome.
Actually, the bulk is in the costume... and Chris has mentioned several times to me that if he ever pursued this concept in the future, he would slim Freddy back down.... a lot less bulk, but still tall, menacing and on fire!

Ok...here is just proof that Hollywood sucks even more and don't know what the hell they're doing. These movies NEED to be made for the fans BY THE FANS; and this guy is obviously a die hard fan like myself. We need more talent like this producing, writing, and directing horror for us fans...not by the assholes shoving crap down our throat like we've been getting. I think the director of this short trailer should of gotten the job of making the remake cause quite honestly just the long shots of freddy in this film are quite scary in there own way. No disrespect to the actor who played in the 2010 remake he is an amazing actor, can't remember his name but. This approach would of been more visually and more entertaining see fred krueger in a whole new way..

Apart from the head movements when he comes around the corner, this vision for Krueger is FUCKING AMAZING.
Why oh WHY can't people like this, with true passion and imagination, get to make their dreams a reality, and instead we get stuck with....whatever the hell PD and co gave us.

Robert and Wes created an Icon, and has such an Icon deserves to be treated better than the way Platinum Dunes has done so. Please look upon this concept trailer of what respect this franchise could have been given by Christopher Johnson. Being a fan of the franchise and the respect involved this film deserves to be made. Well, the reviews for the remake are already rolling in, and not for the better (Surprise! Surprise!). I already thought the Freddy in this "concept" trailer was far more scarier than the one played by Jackie Earle Haley in the remake. Hopefully, Chris will get his chance, someday. The idea of a Freddy Krueger that walks around while still on fire is brilliant!

Booooo to Platinum Dunes for not recognizing and using this concept. They had a real opportunity to take a chance on a fresh new idea... you don't reach true greatness without risk. I think they played it safe and they'll probably just end up rehashing a better looking version of the original, like all their other remakes. All of which were just mediocre and relied on the name to sell tickets, not the quality.

@tjonahue Chris produced a Halloween mask version of the make-up from this teaser and auctioned several off on ebay last October. There may be a few still floating around out there.
The actual make-up from the teaser was also auctioned off on ebay and unfortunately, there are no more items to be sold. Feel free to email at the address on the Elm Street Teaser Channel main page (won't let me post it here)... Chris has made one or two special sets and sold them, but they're pricey.

to be totally honest with you....i thinnk this fan trailer is 10 times better than the actual trailer of the remake....i think we are all going to be dissapointed with the new elm street film.....this trailer done by christopher johnson hits all the horror suspense categories...the way freddy looks and his voice and the fire coming from him is awesome and the autopsy scene looked brilliant. its puts a scare into us fans and its not even the real movie.....the make up was spot on and everythin

Wow...yah, I actually like your freddy better. He looks scarier. Although I am looking forward to the remake, this Freddy feels more like a monster and looks like one. This actullay sort of put a damper on my excitement for the remake because I really enjoyed the look and tenseness of this one.

I watched all 4 videos, and dude I have to say.... I FUCKING LOVED IT!!!, The idea that Freddy of being a burn victim playing into his character more than with his appearance is awesome! The girl you had was also very good, even though she only had a few lines, she really showed the fear that made it believable. Especially when she got dragged out of screen... I want you to turn this into something bigger. I want to see at least 30mins come out of what you have here, if not more. Hit me back man

Have you thought about trying to sell them some of your ideas? I like your Freddy better I understand that they want to "make him look like a real burn victim" but they changed what made Freddy who he is, his look is a major part of why he was frightening. He doesn't look scary anymore. You can't make out his facial features anymore; they basically put a mask on him and that was one of the main reason Wes craven made Freddy look like he made him look. he wanted people to be able to see his face.

The business doesn't really work like that. In artistic/business endeavors such as film, people, producers, directors, etc., are all generally partial to their ideas. Platinum dunes "likes their Freddy better," so to speak. So, rightfully so, they would not really be interested in buying Chris' ideas unless they were interested in his direction in general, and they've chosen a different direction to go in. This happens routinely, sometimes to much success, sometimes to fans disapproval.

If you have any knowledge of the original movies, the new Freddy is going to hurt the movie. In my opinion the true victim in this film is the character of Freddy Kruger

Much closer to Wes Craven's original concept that the villain would be something dark and tap into fears deep down and primeval. Besides, this would scare the shit out of me compared to the lame-ass sock-puppet muppet that is Kruger in the Platinum Dunes remake. After the other failed reboots (yes, Rob Zombie...you too) I really don't have many hopes. :(

"Demon" Freddy in the films has always been laughable. This is primal, and terrifying, but the thing is... this would be the "normal" Freddy. He was scary before, but this seems un-fightable... that's what makes this vision click for me. Kudos. Seriously, a great take on an iconic character.

I am really not keen on the idea of film remakes, especially when the originals were great. However, I gotta say, this concept trailer came out excellent. I think it's better than the real trailer for the upcoming movie. If they weren't going to stick to the original as far as casting, writing, and makeup even, then they should have at least stuck close to this. I'm not so sure I'll be seeing the remake, but if this was the trailer for the remake, I'd DEFINITELY see it. Sick effects. Five stars.

Actually, the bulk is in the costume... and Chris has mentioned several times to me that if he ever pursued this concept in the future, he would slim Freddy back down.... a lot less bulk, but still tall, menacing and on fire!
