@randomrob1968 Could not agree more. It's textbook suspense. I think the haters are just miffed there are no tonal melodies or rock riffs to latch onto. I think its a masterful score.
@randomrob1968 awful??? really?? where exactly are your references from, love to read some of them. There seems to be some serious confusion to who or what they were citing...was it John C's input without informing E.morricone. Thats what i heard.
It is night, and I just got in about an hour ago, casually throwing the door shut behind me. I am sitting at my desk working while listening to this track when the wind howls outside, changes the pressure in the hall and slowly opens the front door to my apartment right at 4:15.
It actually happened as I wrote, and I had just watched the movie the previous night. When I push the door shut I didn't do so with enough force to engage the latch so only friction was holding the door in place.
My heart was beating fast for 10 minutes afterwards and I almost peed myself.

Im always stunned when this soundtrack is cited for being awful. Its one of the most atmospheric and on-point horror scores ever.

In the words of John Carpenter, we'd all like to think we're the big tough heroes, but I'd be in the corner crying uncontrollably.
