I put mine on a tripod outside my house and the wind just blew it and it fell over. The damage wasn't bad the protection lens got cracked and a few scratches on the side but nothing much lol :D i'm used to small camcorders so I definitily think that it's pretty heavy but great quality!

Why does the shutter keep repeating after I take a picture? I take 1 picture and I hear at least 3-6 clicks

A good idea but really all this is, is sony's attempt to rival the 7d, t2i, 5d mk2, 1d mk4,gh1 and the d90 because sony has really fallen behind when it comes to interchangeable lenses and hd video. and all of you who think it will be the best, well it only shoots at 60i, what a dealbreaker!

on the good side of things this may lead to canon losing costumers and realizing hey, AGC is the main reason people will want to go with this sony cam, LETS GET RID OF IT, just thinking positively :)

This camera is better than any blowjob I've ever had! Extreme, I know. However, this camera is excellent I wouldn't be surprised if they used it for Hollywood movies soon. Plus, the 18-200mm lense is just simply awesome! Also, with a 1920x1080 resolution, I doubt you could refuse.

@artistdedigital Yes, this camera comes with the 18-200mm lens. It is 60i (1080i) which I have to say is the only thing that I can actually say is bad about this camera. Personally, for the cost of this camera, I would have expected 1080p at 60fps but I'm not Sony, unfortunately! It has VR-2 for hand-held recording and a 14.6MP optimum for HD still images.

@LiamO6263 Thanks dude...but in lot of the sites people said that it actually captures in progressive (1920x1080p) and saves in interless for some Sony compression technique :-( I have no idea!!! Can you plz confirm that??? and also people said that if you open the video in a editing suite it actually shows as progressive video!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot....

Then he records parrots. If it moves or changes position how can he change zoom fastly only with a manual zoom??

He uses a professional tripod for a small camera handycam. Camcorder has Just one kg weight but three kg of tripod :D :D :D :D

The camera does records in 1080i60 or i50 (US/EU), this can be converted to either 1080p30 or p25 without any loss.

this is all about sony's marketing plan,they won't give you 1080P and 24P with this cam because you already got the narrow depth of field with it which sony's other cam can't give you,but the concept about this cam is filmmaking so sony is doing something to against their own product,so this plan A will fail,wait,sony got a plan B,later,here's come the pro version one with 1080P and 24P,because they have no choice,the pandora's box was opened,people want it,of cause,it might cost you USD 2500.

of course video quality/price wise, it is no match to DSLR like 550d. Indie film making would be excellent with DSLR.

but for general freelance event/wedding/documentary shooting job, most client will disapprove those camera simply boz it doesn't have the look, not the video quality. Plus they dont have the ease of control, ergonomic handle and battery life of a camcorder.

Consider the void between consumer hd cam ($1k) to entry level professional cam (4k+ ?), this is an interesting cam

Canon will come fast with a camcorder capable of full HD at every possible framerate, including 24p for the one who want actually to produce a "true" film. Maybe even with a full frame sensor. And/or XLR mic input. And Panasonic will follow with 1080p too, as their GH line are capable of that.

Then maybe ( comon', dream a lil' bit), Nikon will come and add RAW video capabilities ;)

Sony/NHK pushed 1080i as an HD standard 15 years ago because they already had the equipment, fine. But why holding to it nowadays? No 24p for filmout? No 30p for the Web? No 60p for smooth motion without combing? This is sheer madness.

A hacked Panasonic GH1 has more video modes and costs less. It does not have a chromed mic guard though.

@Ladefensadelidolo If you want 24p you can slow down the shutter speed to about 1/20th or slower. the great thing about this handycam is you can mount superb lenses and has full manual control for creative filming. plus you can shoot up to 12 hours straight on one charge..
