The MC is epic for it's era, but you can do much better at the ~$100 US range right now, in a package that's the size of a 2C maglight.
LED and Li-ion are more efficient tech. You can get warm tint LEDs easily enough. I prefer a cooler white "sunlight" tint, and LED's offer that better.
Color rendition isn't as good in LEDs though.
Still. 2lbs vs 1/2 lb and you can see more/further.
@oppohoppa Yeah, I like the warmer light of the magcharger as well. And the runtime of 2 seems to be ok for a flashlight with such a high output. I'm looking for a flashlight atm and open for any suggestions :D do you have and other ideas or would you recommend the magcharger? I found it on amazon for 80€.

How does the Magcharger compare with the current 3 D-cell LED Maglite? (i.e. Brightness, longevity, quality, etc)

I like the warmer colour temperature of incandescent lights...I´d like to try a magcharger some day. In the dark woods at winter with lots of snow...

@MartinGro131 The Magcharger is too heavy and large, to walk around with. But seems perfect for "security related work"(!)
...I all depends on what you need it for. Check out "Led Lenser" and Maglites new LED models.
