I think the turbos would blow pressure out the bird catcher if they were hooked up. Path of least resistance. Not my cup of tea but it looks like nice fab. work.
Do the turbo's actually do anything? I'm looking at the pipework and can't see how they would actually add any boost. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to explain...
@derranged28 if you see the pipework goes straight into the carb and the turbos give the supercharger added boost so lets say the supercharger has about 11 pounds of boost and the turbos have 30 the 30 pounds help the supercharger force feed the engine with the boost from the supercharger
No boost is going into the scoop! scoop is just for intake and show. the air follows this path: outside>birdscoop>turbo compressor side.>up to the litle box above the blower.> blower> engine> turbo exhaust housing > down-pipes > exhaust>outside.
does anyone else see an issue with turbos going into a scoop? sure is providing boost but how much of the boost is actually being used? i think a lot of it will escape through the scoop itself. hence why turbo applications are in sealed systems directly to the manifold. it looks cool, but i doubt its doing anything other than that
@vettefan73 I had the same thought at first.. but then I realised that the turbos must GET air from somewhere too.
And if you look again WHERE on the turbos those pipes are connected, you'll probably feel as stupid as I did (if you know how a turbo normally works...) :P
@vettefan73 But then again.. where do those _other_ pipes go? To the base of the scoop, it seems. Something's still not right here... :P
Seems to me like the pressurised side should at least end up somewhere below the compressor, OR be connected to the scoop intake (but then the turbo intakes would of course have to be moved...).
The only way this really can work is if the scoop does NOT have a direct air connection with the compressor (meaning it's ONLY intake for the turbo's.)
@ziiofswe hmm not sure myself, i like cars this is a bit over kill but i think the one pipes may go to an inter cooler as well i don't think its a bad setup though. Super charger takens care of the lower rpm while the turbo kicks in at mid to higher rmps so you got no turbo lag.
looks like is also turbo charged to. nice not a bad set up if you think about it. Super charger takes care of lower rmp while the turbo takes the higher
I perfer Jimmie's (blown572dart) latest project is this wicked street driven '68 Dart. It has an EFI Screw Blown 572ci Hemi built by Dram, full tube chassis, a slick black paintjob. After 3 years it is finally finished, tagged and insured. Fastest Street Car?
wow junk should droped a pontiac in it too bad he had do all the add ons to make the junk a lil faster pontiac are fast at birth i bet the chevy went pull em front tires off the gound car looks nice tho
why would some body waste money like that ,when with the proper size ball bearing (ceramic) turbo ,a single turbo with all 8 pipes into it an a blow through fuel injection ,maybe a shot of nos into the cpompressor housing hitting the back side of blades to help it spool up fast ,no lag like that an that setup would walk away from that mechanical kaos of a motor ,like the road runner leaving the coyote, 4 reals!!!!
birdcatcher is just used for intake. notice the pipe goes to the turbine INLET. yeah it looks cool but utterly useless. the chargepipe actually goes to a chrome box sandwiched between the catcher and the carbs. (you can see it really good at 1:48) that box has a plate at the top and no air is getting forced down through the birdcatcher.. all the air is getting drawn through the compressor side of the turbos. and forced through the carbs and into the blower.
what a stupid ass!? let alone putting a turbo system on there... on top of that theres already has a blowerr! haha why the fuck would you run it to the top of the bird catcher? .. clean car though
I've never seen that before. What kind of static compression ratio is he running in order to accommodate the blower and the turbos? And are the turbos even doing anything if they are hooked into the bird catcher and not the manifold? I don't get it. But I must give him an A++ for originality and ingenuity - and for getting it to run! Nice job!
that isn't an idle problem, that's blower surge, and the oil pump will be rated to throw enough round those snails to keep them happy at idle.. it is a show-queen though.. that's never seen two-lane blacktop in anger..
get your timing right, or get a smaller cam.... that god damn idle is just dumb.. you're not getting full power and actually an idle like that damages turbos... go figure. oil pressure up, then down dramatically... all show no go
That is the most horrid thing i have ever seen. At least do that shit to a '67 or a '68 but leave the '69 alone. At the rate people are destroying the '69's I will never have a chance to own one.
@andyk13089 you can build a brand new 69. you can buy the entire car out of a magizine and build it your own way. or just buy a new camaro ss looks close.
