I agree... They fit better because his voice sounds like the moody, brooding kinda voice that I feel is associated to this song...Also he sings it much slower.. But all in all I still love coldplay :D

This is a great compilation of art and music. Beg to differ on the 'insult to Joseph Arthur' comment. The lyrics to this song are fabulous - but speaking as a writer, sometimes the writer can't make the words come alive. The combination of Michael and Chris reaches in and grabs my heart. Since you had the voice of reason, I gave the Joseph Arthur version another listen. Stipe has him on vocal passion hands down - BUT - Arthur far outdoes Chris Martin there. I just noticed there's a REM/J.Arthur post of this song that I'm going to check out....And Anyway....my hats off to the depth of the lyrics - they do make the song.
