Great song, poor video. I hate the fact that women, again, are shown as prostitutes and prostitution shown as a normal and pleasant thing. Pay attention to the way money is presented as the most powerful and indispensible tool also in this video. Very disappointing to me...

I agree. I really love the poetry of this song and the way its sung but the visual component to it is disappointing. Here you have an enigmatic and stoic white guy picking up a Mexican day laborer, buying supplies and building a love den in a Penske. At this point, I was thinking... that's interesting. The video would've taken an interesting twist if prince and the Mexican were gay lovers or if the prostitute was for Prince. Instead prince just bought two "toys" to play together. WTF!

@DannyIndio I don't see it that way. It might have begun with a man and a woman paid to be together, but then it gets real... and tender. So it ends as a sweet gift for the Mexican and the prostitute.

@actaze it seems that the characters are set up as these stereotypes to experience transcendence. It actually does a nice job of displaying love as the true power even if manipulated by the all mighty dollar.

@actaze I don't think it was showing prostitution as a pleasant thing or even focused on the prostitution. I believe the point of the video was one man giving two people who are otherwise seem worthless by the world, a chance to have a real intimate moment. I'm guessing that they don't get to do that much since the guy is unattractive and the only time the woman has sex is to get money. I think the video was beautiful. My honest opinion though. It's just poetry and you can see it how you want.

The thing that strikes me as being great about this video, is that it's art for real people. I don't doubt the Mexican guy was for real. They picked that guy up off the street and even if they didn't, it's beyond marvelous acting on his part. He's there to work. And who needs art more than that those workers. Nobody. This is so cool and unselfish I can't go on enough. I love PFFFR
