  • What were these people thinking! It was raining and they couldn't figure out whether to put wet tyres on or not..

  • And people to this day will still say that V8 supercars is boring????? Action a plenty, great racing. I am a Winterbottom fan, but can't understand how he was side by side with Whincup, then locks brakes and short cut's the chicane and ends up with a reasonable advantage?

  • This always makes me sad, but Larko, Cromley and Skaifey's comments help brighten the mood haha :P

  • What happened to Kelly he just stopped?

  • V8 super cars actually convinced me to buy a ford falcon.

Oh yeah, less crashes more overtaking please??

  • @Dimitri0809 its pretty hard to overtake Holden when they always block the Fords, Dont worry u bought the right car Holdens are overrated!

  • a year on and almost the same thing happened yesterday

  • hahahaha what was courtney thinking? flying up the inside haha BALLS

  • Jamie whincup is a genious!

He'd be even better if his car was fitted with a twin clutch tranny.

  • what a proud moment for Australian Motorsport :P

  • that is 1 of the best races ever!

  • i was at this race it was crazy, i wish jamie whincups car cold of won that would of being great :(

  • i like how the title says "whole field crash" and in the description its "almost the entire field crash"

  • LOL gotta love the Aussies. Oh look its wet, the hell with it, lets give it a crack mate.

  • i like the v8 supercars but they not fast as hell they just 3 seconds faster than the europe gt3 cars

  • great cars V8 :)

  • amazing race courtney had the most damage but he was the only one that made it out of the pits

  • @TheOtherGuy198 I beg to differ. I think that Winterbottom had more damage. Courtney with the damaged rear and the front right, Whincup with a borken rotor and upright and Winterbottom with Smashed everything on the front right. I reckon Winterbottom had rear suspension damage judging by the wobling wheel. Although not a broken watts linkage like Lowndes probably kjust something bent in the rear.

  • I was there in the pits. I have a video on cool video on my channel from this race but from the pits. Check it out. !!!!!!!!!!

  • nooo i watcged this and i was like yaayyy! TODD"S IN FIRST!! then i saw his car and i was like :O noooo

  • awesome race i watched it all

  • Hahah

  • "They should've been on wets."

    Thank you, Captain Hindsight.

  • @HerrSchnellmann lmfao

  • Everyone from Jamie Whincup to the place before Johnathen Webb crashed.

  • @juniorgeneric Yep, top 13 all crashed out.

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy You are a bit off on that. At 1:36 Just before the bar with the places of all the drivers on it dissapeared you could see that Johnathen Webb was 11th. So with the drivers involved in the crash, not nescesearily crashing but involved noneotheless, It was the top 10, TonyD'alberto (about 20th) and Michael Caruso spun out in the replay. Fabian Coulthard was 8th when he got tangled with Will Davidson.

  • love the Aussies for this, fuckin love v8's

  • Aswome

  • Wouuuuu Heavy Rain..... :P

  • this was one epic race, loved watching this. there was millions of dollars of damage that day.

  • i love wet weather races best race ever

  • i love wet weather races

  • All I'll say is, F1's have nothing to do with V8 Supercars and I find it ridiculous that tw grown men are arguing about the relevance of the series. Agree to disagree lads and enjoy the racing..

  • @Amphion0 F1 has NOTHING to do with V8's? Go back to the TV mate.

  • @JDeguara Absoloutely not. F1 has nothing to do with V8 Supercars. The general motorsport rules weren't made by the FIA. You don't see a front wing from Mark Webber's RBR on Jamie Whincups car, do you? So explain to me how FIA or F1 has absoloutely ANYTHING to do with V8's? Idiot.

  • @Amphion0 I'm not really sure how you linked Mark Webbers front wing with F1 having nothing to do with V8's? F1 has plenty in common with V8's. Both are subject to weight requirements, both have tyre regulations, the V8's use a hybrid of the F1 qualifying system, they both run under FIA rules, the cars need to be passed safe by CAMS, who are an FIA affliate. The list goes on. The arguement was never about whether they have things in common. It was about the rules of V8's coming from F1. Idiot.

  • @Amphion0 And the general motorsport rules were made by the FIA. Most motorsport events around the world have to abide by quite a few rules that come directly from the FIA.

  • fucken 888 must be fucked in the head, last race and you're not ready for wet tyres? they did well all year and because of 1 mistake they lost the championship.

  • I need to figure out what channel these races are on do I can watch them. Or online.

  • thumbs up if you think lowndes was deliberately trying to disable courtney.

  • @Gazzz87 it looked like he tryed to because you woulden't go bang into him like thta but Lowndes is a clean driver

  • 0:59 courtney shortcuts the chicane and passes Whincup at turn 5, which he's not allowed to do. Jim Beam broke so many rules Vodafone should have protested.

  • @JDeguara It's only against the rules if James passed Jamie through the chicane. He didn't. He passed after the chicane. You could argue that Mark should have given the position back to Jamie after he also shortcutted the chicane.

And if that's the case (above) then you can kiss goodbye to Jamie's Gold Coast race win. He passed Shane through the chicane and went on to win the race. DJR have gotten away with A LOT less than T8 over the years. I wouldn't start that argument. Especially with me.

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy If he uses the shortcut to gain an advantage, he cant make a position until the 2nd corner after the shortcut, which was turn 6. Otherwise, people could use the chicane to slingshot past like courtney did. Jamie could argue that he was forced to defend and thats what caused him to make the mistake. But because of the champion, the official didn't want to make a 50/50 call, only a call that was black and white, like whincup not finishing.

  • @JDeguara Also, it was a fight situation at the gold coast and with winterbottom, so they just leave them where they were, unless the person in front make a mistake and uses the chicane to maintain the position

  • @JDeguara He still sped up halfway through the chicane (JW and GC) so he's still gained a significant advantage over Shane.

As I said, starting this argument with me wasn't a very good idea. ;)

  • @JDeguara I've not read that rule, nor heard it mentioned anywhere. Can you please cite that for me; I'd like to know so I can keep it in mind.

Which 'mistake are you referring to? The GC one? He wasn't 'forced' to defend. Any other driver would come back in behind SVG is try to get passed at the next turn. Instead, Jamie actually sped through the chicane.

Other drivers shortcutted the chicane all weekend, and none were penalised. So I'd say it was a very 'black and white' call.

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy How can you say he wasn't forced to defend? Shane made an attack, outbraked himself and hit Whincup. This caused Jamie to miss the chicane and officials and the rule book said he was entilted to keep his position. Heaps of drivers cut the chicane at surfers, none attempted a pass into turn 3? Theres nothing in the rule book that said Jamie had to slot inbehind SVG. In Sydney, Courtney used the chicane to slingshot up to Whincup and pass him at turn 5

  • @JDeguara which he would have got a penalty for if it hadn't been wet, cause james could argue that whincup lost traction. I'm not sure if the chicane thing is a rule, but I'd be very suprised if it isn't, because it's a rule in formula one that Lewis Hamilton got done for at spa, and the majority of CAMS rules come directly from the FIA.

  • @JDeguara You're joking, right? Did you actually watch the race? Shane was in front of Jamie as they crossed the start/finish line. So, officially, Shane was in the lead of the race as they went into turn one. With Shane leading going in, and Jamie leading going out, then Jamie obviously gained a significant advantage (enough to win the race) over Shane.

Re: F1 rule; There are plenty of rules in F1 that are not applied in V8s. Might have something to do with the fact they're different series.

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy They deemed the pass with Shane wasn't complete, thats why Whincup maintained and didn't get a penalty, and I think Jamie was ahead going under brakes. And the F1 rules related to the cars maybe, but you'll find 90%+ come from the FIA.

But the main point is that Courtney used the shortcut to get passed Jamie, which you can't do.

  • @JDeguara Jamie was not in front under brakes. If you want I can upload the video to prove it.

Even you've said that you don't know if its a rule or not, so saying he can't do it is just your opinion and not a rule.

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy The point was the shane hit him, which pushed Jamie off his brake point, and the officials thought the same. And I wouldn't bet my life on the fact its a rule, but I'd bet a week's pay. If you're such an expert on rules, prove me wrong?

  • @JDeguara I've not once said that I am an expert on the rules. I've not once said that I know all the rules. I've mentioned the rules once and that was in reply to you. You are the one that said cutting the chicane then passing was a rule, then it wasn't, and now I don't know what you're saying.

I'd have thought someone of your age (according to your profile) could have a mature discussion about this issue. Apparently not.

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy You seem pretty confident its not a rule? And this is a mature discusision. I was simply saying if you don't think it's a rule, prove me wrong?

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy Couldn't agree more. This year has clearly been the triple 8 show. Even on the last lap of race 26, the commentators were still talking about the fact that Jamie Whincup could still be champion if courtney DNFs. WITH HALF A LAP TO GO!!!

  • Holy shit that Jim Beam car got fucked up...

  • that was the best race i have ever seen. i remeber watching it on tv and like they pushed courtneys car out and you could here the crowd cheer!

  • @SuperFatman1996 best part of the race. Awesome weekend of V8s. Ford WOO!

  • thanks mate you made my day

  • LOL @ 1:30 that kerb owns Davison

  • imagine that cameraguy. he would of freaked out hah

  • Who won?

  • @CaseyTheHedgehog1 Jonathan Webb. First year in the V8 Supercars, started the lap in 14th, finished the lap in 1st. First race win, and the 60th driver in ATCC/V8SC history to win a race.

  • @CaseyTheHedgehog1 Johnathan Webb

  • And the idiots didn't switch to rain tires? What was going on, were the pit crews drunk on Fosters or something?

  • @PYLrulz1984 fosters? you're obviously not australian.

Half of the track was slightly wet and the other was dry, the pit crews wanted to stick it through and on that lap it belted down with rain in that part of the lap. No cars were on wet tires.....

  • @VistaXp1

Well, that was the first thing I could think of.

I did notice some of the track was dry, but still, with heavy rain in the area like that, I still would of had put rain tires on the car, tell my driver to take it easy on the dry parts, and make up that ground on the wet part.

If the teams had intermediate tires like F1 does (I don't know since I live in the US, and only get the V8 Supercar races on Speed Channel), that would make sense too.

  • @VistaXp1 For the most part that's true. However, Jonathan Webb was on wets, as was Dean Fiore and a few others. But your point still stands. The half wet half dry situation was what caught out the front runners who couldn't afford to take a gamble like the Webbs and Fiores of the field did.

  • @VistaXp1 The ones that didn't hit the wall was on wet tires. And Webb and Bright were.

  • Go to love this race can't wait for tomorrow. Hope for more rain :D

  • Oh no he's in the fence

Oh they're both in the fence

    They're all in the fence

Everyone crashed and Jono Webb who started that lap from 14th or something finds himself in the lead!

  • @Falcs2010 I love Cromley's comment; "This is stupid."

  • @rainbowsmakemehappy He wasn't happy! Guess this 60 point bonus makes up for GC/Tas! :)

  • @Falcs2010 Kind of like Nationwide series race where Shane Hmiel finished in 8th, 47 laps down out of 43 cars at Talladega.

  • Insane finish to an insane year. One race to go, Can Whincup do it. Come on holden

  • Best race of the year. Go Webby!

  • Thanks James. I missed it.
