why are the video responces for fucking games?? why do I hear people say that listening to heathen metal reminds them of video games? by Odin, I feel sorry for this new generation....
if the way you express such wordless greatness and spiritual power is through a reference to an electronic fantasy, you must wake up and walk outside. pick a fight. make love to a woman. drink yourself stupid. live!
@Darkwaveraver The fantasy inhirited in the odinist religious mythos goes along well with the fantasy inhirited in the videogames.
As simple as that.
Further more, spiritual power is only considerable for us odinists. So by claiming it as universal, you're being the very sam numb-minded force that almost destroyed us.
@GPazosL spiritual power is present in all people, friend. the concept that an entire time in our history is about to be dictated by a generation that has practically abandoned it is sickening. It way not be a top priority for all, but it should be built up to some degree.
@Darkwaveraver To freaking true. This music doesn't remind me of some game. It gets the blood flowing and makes me start spoiling for a fight. Through this I feel a connection to a distant part of my ancestry that words cannot describe.
If you hear this music and can only imagine some game, I pity you.
@drizzt102 I understand religion of all cultures have areas that can be frowned upon, but I wholeheartedly believe that one person shouldn't decree one way or the other whether one religion is right and another is wrong. Nor do I view that one god or gods should be revered, while others be viewed as heretical. In the end, all religion is relative to a large decree, it depends largely on how one chooses to perceive them thereafter and the messages embedded within each seperate culture & religion
@drizzt102 And by saying "may not believe in all of them" I mean that I may not follow some of their cultural mores, e.g. ritualistic blood sacrifices and flaying in ancient Aztec culture, but unlike some people I still can respect that some people do and I neither embrace, nor condemn it; I merely acknowledge its existence in the realm of mythos and belief systems.
@drizzt102 This however isn't what I actually believe. I read you're a Druid, and I respect that, you follow your own beliefs and revere a type of deification in itself; which in your case is a personification of nature and earth. I myself follow a belief of my own which I aptly named: pantheonism (not to be confused with pantheism). Generally speaking, I follow all the worldly pantheons and respect each of their seperate cultures. I may not believe in all of them, but I respect their existence.
@ramohn2 He is by far the most... "humanitarian", if that's a word, god existing. People loved the christian God the most, because after Christ, this was a religion that gave poor people hope and, better yet, some kind of "revenge" against the rich people (since those were going to hell and all that stuff). This was a great deal of religion to those who had little, as I see it.
If this was spanis, I would explain myself better, but I think this should do.
Why should their be so much hatred between the great faiths? Christians, Muslims, Jews, Northmen, Celts, Greeks, Hindus and Buddhists, and all other members of our spiritual world, our faiths are sagas of heroism and mastery of ourselves! We all teach virtue in one form or another. Christians, you teach peace, Men of the North, you teach war; but you both seek the same paradise. I know this is cliche, but all religions need to see what the various "heathens" and "infidels" are really teaching.
@DestroyerOfSense000 I hate to inform you, mate but as a Druidic Celt (yes there is actually more then one faith within the term 'Celt') i have to say it. Christians don't preach peace Look at their history. I can agree with everything else you say But fuck christianity. It was the biggest fuck-up of a religion out of all of them. Christianity and its stupid beliefs have killed something like 50 times the death count of both World Wars including Stalins 'hidden' death count.
@DestroyerOfSense000 and that's just the crusades. Don't get me started on the fucking Dark Ages and how that just FUCKED the system in the asshole. And if you look at actual history, Jesus was real. but you wanna know what? his death wasn't special....he was crucified by the Romans. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MANY PEOPLE THE ROMANS DID THAT TO EVERY DAY?!?!?! the only reason he's special is cause they forgot to light him on fire like they did everyone else. that's it.
@drizzt102 No, you're right. Both the Christians and, yes, the Romans were very cruel and unlawfully ambitious. But I am talking about the message given by the Bible. Most people who say they're Christians aren't. Jesus, even if he didn't perform miracles, was a rebellious and great man. Both the Jews and the Romans hated that for the same reason, and they killed him. And yes, I know Druids have a long-standing hatred of Christians, and for good reason too.
@drizzt102 I do have an unrelated question about Neo-Druidism though. There are very few Druidic texts and oral tradition is probably hopelessly corrupted by centuries of persecution and fakery. How do you know you're even emulating the original Druids? The Romans killed the Gaulish Druids and many of the British ones, and the rest were persecuted by Christians. I really do want to know how you can resurrect a dead tradition when its remains are almost all gone.
@DestroyerOfSense000 alright afore i get into that, i would like to say one thing. I don't hate christians. I hate fanatics who believe faith shouldn't be a personal choice. I happen to be friends with many christians, cause they DON'T try and force feed me their faith.
@DestroyerOfSense000 But, anyway, its not quite as hopeless as you think. I'm irish and Scottish. Emerald Isle Celt. anyway, Its actually a rather simplified version of what the druids of old practised. I believe in the idea of 'elemental energies' that make up everything, seven of them (fire, water, air, earth, shadow, spirit and nature) and i believe in Mother Goddess (earth) and that she's everyone's 'Mother' as it were.
@DestroyerOfSense000 Therefore I approach it as if my 'faith' in my diety need be no more then a good son. Get to know my 'Mother' and get to feel and understand what she wants, what her balanced state is supposed to be, and try my best to do my little bit to keep her there. A balance between all seven energies. I also do believe in the runes and summoning and such. Even practise it. Have a spell book and such. Although I picked up an old warrior tradition with mine as well.
@DestroyerOfSense000 Whenever i get hurt, I will write in my own blood (basically right now, i vial some, take it home, and then do this) the lesson i should have learned. I, thankfully, have only filled one full page, despite having done some SUPERBLY stupid shit, ;) I may not be emulating them completely, but the cool thing about Druidism, is that it changed from place to place, culture to culture, but the simple ideals stayed the same. Because those are all that matter.
@DestroyerOfSense000 So yeah. that's the best way to explain it. I may not be a true pagan, but i'm as close as you can get with this particular choice of belief system, I think, given all that was lost and destroyed. Do i ever question it? of course. But questioning is why we can think. It is how we grow, how we learn. So i don't think that kind of spiritual self examination is a bad thing. ;) keeps me honest. So hopefully that answers your question, and sorry bout length.
@drizzt102 That was a perfect explanation, thank you. I do not follow anyone's faith. When people say that they think I'm an atheist, it annoys me to no end. But anyway, my belief system is one of extreme skepticism. The first "tenet", if you will, is that every bit of knowledge, every belief, every opinion we have is only true because we make it. Even the most "logical" scientific theories get proven wrong, and the current ones will eventually as well. Even this statement could be wrong!
@DestroyerOfSense000 ahhh. very reasoning approach sir (or because i can't tell and i don't wanna make an ass of myself maybe miss) You see the 'tenets' if you will, are loose to this faith, well my version. Do your best not to hurt mother. Protect her if you can. Do not rape, do not kill (as in murder, there are times where violence is your only way), and do not steal. Finally, there is no hiearchy between yourself and kin and clan (family) They are equally important.
@drizzt102 I currently believe that we are controlled by a sort of higher intelligence that follows certain laws. But, as I said, this theory could be proven wrong at any time, and therefore I do not in any way trust it completely. I actually got this idea from studying how cells go through apoptosis, or programmed cell death, for the good of the organism. It made me consider the possibility that that might be why WE die. It's all about scale.
@drizzt102 My body is like the Universe for all cells that are in me, I would assume. But yes, I definitely respect every faith, even though because of my extreme skepticism I don't believe in any of them. They are noble sagas of heroism and who knows, some of them might have universal answers!
PS: I don't mind long responses. As you can see, I use them too.
@DestroyerOfSense000 Ohh yeah, forgot that in my explaination. I believe in the 'Isle of Avalon' its like this holy island that some druidic cultures believed in. It was kind of like Valhalla mixed with Ireland. Basically drink and fight, and no one can die. except you get to be with the person you loved for all eternity, and can live days as wildlife for fun, experiment. BUT u only get to come here, unlike in most faiths, IF you live life to the fullest.
@DestroyerOfSense000 The old adage, You only live once, you shouldn't end up in your casket fine and prim, you should slide in, half naked, drink in one hand, some other fun thing in the other, yelling, HOLY FUCK THAT WAS FUN!! and very interesting. I enjoy people who question things. Druids are all about questions. forcing them (me) to answer questions helps us understand ourselves, and therefore Mother's world that is around us, better.
@DestroyerOfSense000 After all, you can only know anyone, or anything around you as well as you know yourself. That's my belief, anyway. But i may take a while to reply if you have any more questions. Gotta get to work, lol. cya.
@Honey88Koonce Folk Metal is even with Viking, and to some degree TYR are Viking Folk metal without folk instrumentation. They sing many traditional songs and sing of paganism, not just history.
@HerbredMadness cand dau in google Tyr imi gaseste imbracaminte si de-aia nu prea cunoaste lumea...everyone please search TYR in google for amusement...
And also, I'm well aware of the Indo-European migration. Just because they predate the Egyptians doesn't mean that their disparate and unorganized folk tales are more significant than the established mythos of the Egyptians. And by the way, the Sumerian version of the Epic of Gilgamesh is the second iteration. The original is Mesopotamian, if you'd bothered to do your research you'd realise that there are differences between the two.
@DrgnLord92 We also know less about the Northern Europen, Slavic, and Celtic culture due to the Roman occupation of these lands destroying much of the culture and archaic artifacts, then they came in with Christianity around the 5th century and completely destroyed our ancestral identity and culture,
@GoldenAxeVox666 though it is quite amusing that the holiest day on the calender for Christians is actually Yule, a Germanic/Norse celebration of the winter solstice, Christians just invented when jesus was born and made this a celebration of him to coax the Northern European pagans to convert, but obviously, if the man was ever borne to begin with, he was borne in March or September, coinciding with the herding of sheep. Silly Christians.
@GoldenAxeVox666 That is very true. Christianity to a large degree did consist of conquest and persecution. The Holy Crusades were fought for almost two hundred years to reclaim Jerusalem's "holy land" that they thought was rightfully theirs. And by doing this, it ultimately meant bloodshed and a proclaimation of heresy toward anyone who spoke out against it. Pope Urban II (one of the most powerful men of his time) was the person who suggested the Crusade, and who was then followed suite after.
@GoldenAxeVox666 That being said though, the Norsemen weren't exactly "saints" either. Many people argue the toss that they were “defending their land” and yes to a certain degree this is true, but they were also common pirates & warriors of their age who pillaged, burned and raped like everyone else. The Vikings were largely romanticized during the 13th and 19-20th centuries & recently this romanticized view of them has taken place again with the surge of neo-paganism and anti-Christian views.
@DrgnLord92 I never said they were saints as you put it, but they did have to raid in winter months and in times of crop failure to feed their families, and were also a warrior culture like the Celts, the Celts just being a bit more in harmony with nature and their surroundings, but while vikings did come and raid Scotland(Alba) and Ireland, the two cultures eventually found much common ground as warrior cultures and sort of coagulated into two different, yet similar ethnic groups,
@DrgnLord92And yes, the romanticism is also the reason that for some reason people think vikings wore horned helmets, this would have proved deadly in battle as it would not deflect blows, it was I believe an 18t hcentury artist that took a weeBit of artistic freedom in a painting and ever since, vikings had horns in popular culture. While there really is only evidence of Celts doing this, but the helmets found at archaeological site were most likely ceremonial, as the naming of a new chieftain
@GoldenAxeVox666 I read something about that too. According to Frank F (2000) "The Invention of the viking horned helmet.", the horned helmet stems from a scenography of an 1876 production of an opera by Richard Wagner, which is in the later period of the(dark - this period of the romanticism is often characterized as being dark) romanticism. I'm, by the way, from the Faroe Islands and listened to this song and saw this interesting chat going on and felt like commenting :)
@ommaercool My sources say an earlier painting by an artist I can't remember, but I'm sure they probably used that image in the props department for the costume........The Faroe islands are such an enigma and link to the Celtic/Scandinavian connection, its essentially in the British isles chain, but of Danish and Norse decent, coincidence
@ommaercool though, just as many of the immigrants to Greenland and North America, Celtic blood surely runs through the veins of the Faroese, just as it does the Scotts and Irish, we've been blood brothers post 500 C.E. for 1500 years now.and i find the synergy of the two cultures very apt, as we were the both the biggest and mightiest warrior cultures on earth, and the last to succumb to the Christians, Our cultures share much and influenced one another greatly.
@ommaercool Maybe we should use the term Post Antiquity Celts and Scandinavian, as the culture intertwined, it is evident in monoliths and knotwork, prior to Nose influence, Celtic designs were more spiral work, and Norse were a bit more ornate, then Celtic knotwork became very symmetrical and uniform, this is not a coincidence (sorry for so many responses, they leave you only so much space for responses)...
@GoldenAxeVox666 Nah, sorry buddy I don't but I'm open to pming whenever you want. I always enjoy talking about this kind of thing; friend me and we can chat if you wish. That being said though, I'm not always on this so some messages may be delayed sometimes. And yeah the saints comment was me using it generally. It's late and that was the only thing I could think of at the time. But it's nice to see you're open to my comments and not like some people who take immediate offence. See ya round :)
@IUVENTIU Yes, the Dacians were an indo-European people (Slavic) that had great wealth of metals(gold, silver, iron) in their mountains dubbed the metal mountains, or the Carpathian mountains. Well, Romans being Romans, they came in and committed genocide against these people just to get the wealth of their land, that is why it is now known as ROMANIA. I actually wrote a song for it in my band Golden Axe, "The Metal Mountains of Dacia"

@IUVENTIU look at my favorites for Golden Axe live, the camera work is shit and its hard to hear the piper, but the second song is the song about Dacia, The last line of the chorus is " The Metal Mountains of Dacia, Romania now in Death" I do quite a high pitched scream in that one too, surprised myself as I hadn't been on stage for about a year before that show!
@0702The you sir, are exactly what your faith needs. more open minded people, less preachy fanatics. Thank-you, you are a refreshing change from the normal trolls.
You all should know the true about TYR ,HE marched into heaven with his army to battle YHVH(god)and YHVH struck him and his whole army with a single blow.He was no match to our father who arth in heaven,THE ONLY TRUE KING!!!!!!!
Hey, sup? Im not scandinavian im from baltics (no big difference:D) so i dunno much about your religion/mythology (its more like a religion i guess) But is this the guy who's hand was bitten off by fenrir??
Let's face it. Not everyone who posts his or her own views on religion or politics is going to be liked by everyone! So , why don't you all just take your conversations elsewhere. I came here for music, not for such ridiculous and seemingly endless arguments! I'm sure others feel the same way.
I truly believe in the Gods of Norway. Now shut up, stop giving comments about religions and as Supergirl1225 allready said. Listen to the god damn music. 'Cause it's awesome!
Supergirl1225...may you have the strenght to pounder deep in the ground all those who disagreed with you....I'll send you Mjolnir by Fedex as soon as I can.
@supergirl1225 because music has a meaning... and religion might be one... you cant say its good music because you like a riff... well you could but music is much more than a good riff and rythm
The people of the world had suffered long in enough, Christian Evangelism and Religious Oppression must be destroyed. Symbols of Old is a all of humanity's heritage. Why should we desecrate them so much! Týr is one of the most sane Pagan Metal bands there is, because they say openly that they aren't racists or aligned with their nation, and they fight for all men!
@MrSmammered What a asinine piece of shit......and for your information, being a nerd is a good thing you trogladite, Dorks area different story though, there is a difference.
@Desmodus96 Tyr's hand was bitten off by Fenris as a sort of trust thing when they Chained him down. They needed to chain him down and Fenris asked for Tyr's sword hand as a promise they would free him after putting the chains on him. The gods had told him that they only wanted to see if he could break the chains.
@MrAxelTrouble Fenris asked that any god place his hand within his jaws as trust, Tyr was the only God to step forth and offer his hand as sacrifice to protect others. Hence why the Tyr rune in the Elder Futhark is the rune of protection of others at self sacrifice. The rest was accurate though :)
@crytic Ah, thank you for the clarification :) When I first read the story,it said he asked for Tyr in particular, So that's just what I went with. Thank you though :) I'll remember that in the future.
Tyr isnt a fucking skinhead band. Those mindless nazi idiots couldnt write a song as good as Tyr... all they can do is scream and slap their guitar strings like the feeble palsied retards they are. Ask a skinhead what the highest level of education he has... Its low. lol they dont even know WWII history... thats even funnier than their lacking knowledge of norse traditions. Nazi use of norse myths are bastardized versions, used to prop up their ideology, because it cant stand on its own.
If you actuley study many religions you will actuley see they all have many similateys . I dont belive in a singual religion . there are truths , there are good things behind all but all have also many faults . I have always had a strong draw to germanic neopaganism though. everyone should open all of there eyes to the univeres.
@TheBluewingdevil hey shove it jackoff ok no they wouldn't god can twist the very essence of reality in a thought so shut the hell up and Jesus was no weak fool he had one violent outburst and that got him crucified so shut up and learn u worthless ass fuck
@curtiskumfer Truth be told, Jesus was a character in a story book based on Dionysus and Bacchus. Don't believe me read the book "The Jesus Mysteries". It was written by people trying to find the truth, and they made sure to show ALL of their references so that anything within their book can be verified. It's a really good read and Epic in it's honesty
@crytic Actually it has been historically proven that Jesus was a real person. Now whether or not he was the son of god is of course up to debate, but he wasn't just an invention of our imagination.
@Samtastrophi I would like to point out, that is a giant can of 'what if' discussion and you should be careful with such statements. Is the world today really something to be completely proud of? I would say maybe not so much...
@Samtastrophi yeah, lol this is true. Thanks for noting that one ;). and of course, i'm a little intrigued as to what the heck you posted a minute before this....cause i'm just curious that way, lol
Random thoughts: Always remember even the Norse knew that violence was not true power. All the Aesir were gods of war. But the greatest of the was and is Odin, because he's the god of Knowledge
The mere concept that the truth of the divine could be contained by one single religion is laughable. If it were true we'd only have one religion and we'd all follow it without question
Everything is a Lie. All lies are, in reality, the Truth. All Truths are ONE
@TiwazTyrsfist They've found evidence that Tyr may have actually been considered the eldest and originally the lead God of the Aesir, however there was a change that eventually brought Odin and Thor to more prominence. It's really interesting. As far as Odin and YHWH being one... YHWH may have been ripped off of Odin, but the same.... not likely. Odin took care of his own dirty work, "God" never has. He always sends in the Angels to keep his hands clean, Micheal would be a better comparison lol
who the motherfucking fuck care the fucking god awful fffffuck about fucking godtalk when there's good music playing?! SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU HORRIBLE OVER-THINKING CUNTS AND JUST ENJOY THE M U S I C ...FUCK.
Hello? People discussing religion on Youtube? GET A LIFE. I want to know people's opinions on the music, not what your religion is. And please respect other people's religion. It's rude to say 'If Jesus was even real, he was a weak fool. His death should have been a boiling pot of water'. It's a very asshole thing to say, and this is coming from the queen of bitches.
If Jesus was even real, he was a weak fool. His death should have been a boiling pot of water. There is no gods. And if there were any type of god, i rather picture them like the norse gods... WHY? because Norse gods would punch your god in the face and tea bag him, then have a feast to their victory
@TheBluewingdevil dude I LOVE Power/Viking/Norse Metal ...And I love the norse gods, but i am a Christian, And will always be and you dont see me go around insulting everyone´s religions, just listen to the fucking Music dude, better, how about a nice hot steaming cup of shut the fuck up?
@TheBluewingdevil Actually, his death was heralded by a ferocious earthquake, a sky blackened as if by the deepest of dark storms, the dead getting up and walking around, and a tremendous cry of "IT! IS! FINISHED!" that could be heard for a long while. That's...one hell of a death. And that was a voluntary death.
@TheBluewingdevil from a nonreligious standpoint, Jesus was probably a bit more badass than the norse gods. The norse gods were all defeated. Jesus was only defeated because he allowed himself to be. Even then, he just ascended to heaven, where he will eventually stage a full destruction of Earth.
@SnoodDood I have bad news. Jesus could have resisted all he wanted. The roman empire had the man executed. At the time of his death, if the Romans wanted you dead, you were going to die. So in reality, he probably just decided it wasn't worth living in hiding and fear forever, and wasn't worth fighting back against what seemed like impossible odds. which i see as cowardice. I'm a warrior through and through. and all warriors have two things in common. They believe in themselves-
@SnoodDood and they NEVER EVER EVER give up. No matter the odds, when what you believe is morally just, you should never ever surrender. Fight to the end, no matter the odds. Because sometimes the implausible happens.
@drizzt102 Jesus was no mindless warrior whose only purpose was to destroy his enemies. His job was to help them, and by dying he did just that. I'm just noting how capable he was of destroying them. I think it made him more of a man because he had the willpower to resists sending all of his enemies directly to hell and ending his torture. That, sir, is masculinity.
@SnoodDood I have news. Don't insult the Warrior mentality. You insult a form of intelligence sir, by confusing it with soldier. You don't have to be a soldier to be a warrior. You can be a warrior for a lot of things, of peace, of love. BUT all warriors have two things hin common. They believe in themselves and THEY NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP! Jesus gave up, thereby, making him, at minimum, a fearful and scared little man, who was willing to give up on all he believed in.
@drizzt102 What you're misunderstanding is the true mission of Jesus. I won't elaborate too much, but his entire mission was basically to be crucified by the Romans. quitting in this case wouldn't mean he simply let himself die. quitting would mean he could no longer take the pain and humiliation, so he destroyed his enemies. My only point is that the "manliness" of Jesus was in the fact that he took all of that from basic willpower even though he could've ended the torture at any time.
@SnoodDood and also, destory earth, that's laughable. Mother can't be destroyed by men, not even the 'best' of men. He could wipe us out, but her, never. she will continue on until she decides her time has come, ie that'll be when the planet does the whole exploding star business. (Mother=Planet Earth, yes I am a Druid, deal with it.)
@TheBluewingdevil you couldnt be more right, however if you do some norse, sumerian, egyptian, greek, mayan mythology research they all have very similar stories, however rather than gods or angels the descriptions sound alien to me, and thor's hammer was more than likely a real weapon made by the gods of olympus (zues, etc) however other legends suggest dwarves made it, which could be a possibility if the hollow earth theory turns out to be true, as that would be where they reside
@TheBluewingdevil which the gods of olympus (greek mythology gods) weren't actually gods ofcourse, merely highly advanced extra-terrestrial beings known as the Annunaki in ancient sumerian texts dating to 6,000 BC
@TheBluewingdevil technically you just contradicted yourself by saying there is no gods but you also say there is only Norse gods. But I still agree with you that Norse gods own xD
@MusicloverCaunty I never said i believed in any god, or gods.. I said IF there were any.. haha. I love how everyone jumps to attack my comment. But its all good. haha. Norse gods are so much kooler. BTW..... JESUS sucks balls, he's a weak fuck.... Christians stole their faith from everyone before them... Lame... :P
@TheBluewingdevil Sorry to break it to ya pal, but the Norse myths aren't original either. They borrowed from everyone else before them too. The only sect that can claim a reliable source to original mythology are the Egyptians. And if you want to get technical with the myths than your wrong about Jesus. Read Revelations, he's depicted in the Apocalypse as a mighty warrior of the light who can obliterate entire armies with a single sweeping arc of his sword. They're facts, unlike your cynicism.

can someone explain what is so great about the christian god?
what does he do?
ramohn2 1 month ago
@ramohn2 He is by far the most... "humanitarian", if that's a word, god existing. People loved the christian God the most, because after Christ, this was a religion that gave poor people hope and, better yet, some kind of "revenge" against the rich people (since those were going to hell and all that stuff). This was a great deal of religion to those who had little, as I see it.
If this was spanis, I would explain myself better, but I think this should do.

Can we please stop the religion circle jerk and just be brothers and sisters in our love for metal? :<

DestroyerOfSense000 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 I hate to inform you, mate but as a Druidic Celt (yes there is actually more then one faith within the term 'Celt') i have to say it. Christians don't preach peace Look at their history. I can agree with everything else you say But fuck christianity. It was the biggest fuck-up of a religion out of all of them. Christianity and its stupid beliefs have killed something like 50 times the death count of both World Wars including Stalins 'hidden' death count.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 and that's just the crusades. Don't get me started on the fucking Dark Ages and how that just FUCKED the system in the asshole. And if you look at actual history, Jesus was real. but you wanna know what? his death wasn't special....he was crucified by the Romans. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MANY PEOPLE THE ROMANS DID THAT TO EVERY DAY?!?!?! the only reason he's special is cause they forgot to light him on fire like they did everyone else. that's it.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@drizzt102 No, you're right. Both the Christians and, yes, the Romans were very cruel and unlawfully ambitious. But I am talking about the message given by the Bible. Most people who say they're Christians aren't. Jesus, even if he didn't perform miracles, was a rebellious and great man. Both the Jews and the Romans hated that for the same reason, and they killed him. And yes, I know Druids have a long-standing hatred of Christians, and for good reason too.
DestroyerOfSense000 1 month ago
@drizzt102 I do have an unrelated question about Neo-Druidism though. There are very few Druidic texts and oral tradition is probably hopelessly corrupted by centuries of persecution and fakery. How do you know you're even emulating the original Druids? The Romans killed the Gaulish Druids and many of the British ones, and the rest were persecuted by Christians. I really do want to know how you can resurrect a dead tradition when its remains are almost all gone.
DestroyerOfSense000 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 alright afore i get into that, i would like to say one thing. I don't hate christians. I hate fanatics who believe faith shouldn't be a personal choice. I happen to be friends with many christians, cause they DON'T try and force feed me their faith.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 But, anyway, its not quite as hopeless as you think. I'm irish and Scottish. Emerald Isle Celt. anyway, Its actually a rather simplified version of what the druids of old practised. I believe in the idea of 'elemental energies' that make up everything, seven of them (fire, water, air, earth, shadow, spirit and nature) and i believe in Mother Goddess (earth) and that she's everyone's 'Mother' as it were.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 Therefore I approach it as if my 'faith' in my diety need be no more then a good son. Get to know my 'Mother' and get to feel and understand what she wants, what her balanced state is supposed to be, and try my best to do my little bit to keep her there. A balance between all seven energies. I also do believe in the runes and summoning and such. Even practise it. Have a spell book and such. Although I picked up an old warrior tradition with mine as well.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 Whenever i get hurt, I will write in my own blood (basically right now, i vial some, take it home, and then do this) the lesson i should have learned. I, thankfully, have only filled one full page, despite having done some SUPERBLY stupid shit, ;) I may not be emulating them completely, but the cool thing about Druidism, is that it changed from place to place, culture to culture, but the simple ideals stayed the same. Because those are all that matter.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 So yeah. that's the best way to explain it. I may not be a true pagan, but i'm as close as you can get with this particular choice of belief system, I think, given all that was lost and destroyed. Do i ever question it? of course. But questioning is why we can think. It is how we grow, how we learn. So i don't think that kind of spiritual self examination is a bad thing. ;) keeps me honest. So hopefully that answers your question, and sorry bout length.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@drizzt102 That was a perfect explanation, thank you. I do not follow anyone's faith. When people say that they think I'm an atheist, it annoys me to no end. But anyway, my belief system is one of extreme skepticism. The first "tenet", if you will, is that every bit of knowledge, every belief, every opinion we have is only true because we make it. Even the most "logical" scientific theories get proven wrong, and the current ones will eventually as well. Even this statement could be wrong!
DestroyerOfSense000 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 ahhh. very reasoning approach sir (or because i can't tell and i don't wanna make an ass of myself maybe miss) You see the 'tenets' if you will, are loose to this faith, well my version. Do your best not to hurt mother. Protect her if you can. Do not rape, do not kill (as in murder, there are times where violence is your only way), and do not steal. Finally, there is no hiearchy between yourself and kin and clan (family) They are equally important.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@drizzt102 I currently believe that we are controlled by a sort of higher intelligence that follows certain laws. But, as I said, this theory could be proven wrong at any time, and therefore I do not in any way trust it completely. I actually got this idea from studying how cells go through apoptosis, or programmed cell death, for the good of the organism. It made me consider the possibility that that might be why WE die. It's all about scale.
DestroyerOfSense000 1 month ago
@drizzt102 My body is like the Universe for all cells that are in me, I would assume. But yes, I definitely respect every faith, even though because of my extreme skepticism I don't believe in any of them. They are noble sagas of heroism and who knows, some of them might have universal answers!
PS: I don't mind long responses. As you can see, I use them too.
DestroyerOfSense000 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 Ohh yeah, forgot that in my explaination. I believe in the 'Isle of Avalon' its like this holy island that some druidic cultures believed in. It was kind of like Valhalla mixed with Ireland. Basically drink and fight, and no one can die. except you get to be with the person you loved for all eternity, and can live days as wildlife for fun, experiment. BUT u only get to come here, unlike in most faiths, IF you live life to the fullest.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 The old adage, You only live once, you shouldn't end up in your casket fine and prim, you should slide in, half naked, drink in one hand, some other fun thing in the other, yelling, HOLY FUCK THAT WAS FUN!! and very interesting. I enjoy people who question things. Druids are all about questions. forcing them (me) to answer questions helps us understand ourselves, and therefore Mother's world that is around us, better.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@DestroyerOfSense000 After all, you can only know anyone, or anything around you as well as you know yourself. That's my belief, anyway. But i may take a while to reply if you have any more questions. Gotta get to work, lol. cya.

DrgnLord92 4 months ago
@DrgnLord92 We also know less about the Northern Europen, Slavic, and Celtic culture due to the Roman occupation of these lands destroying much of the culture and archaic artifacts, then they came in with Christianity around the 5th century and completely destroyed our ancestral identity and culture,
GoldenAxeVox666 1 month ago
@GoldenAxeVox666 though it is quite amusing that the holiest day on the calender for Christians is actually Yule, a Germanic/Norse celebration of the winter solstice, Christians just invented when jesus was born and made this a celebration of him to coax the Northern European pagans to convert, but obviously, if the man was ever borne to begin with, he was borne in March or September, coinciding with the herding of sheep. Silly Christians.
GoldenAxeVox666 1 month ago
@GoldenAxeVox666 That is very true. Christianity to a large degree did consist of conquest and persecution. The Holy Crusades were fought for almost two hundred years to reclaim Jerusalem's "holy land" that they thought was rightfully theirs. And by doing this, it ultimately meant bloodshed and a proclaimation of heresy toward anyone who spoke out against it. Pope Urban II (one of the most powerful men of his time) was the person who suggested the Crusade, and who was then followed suite after.
DrgnLord92 1 month ago
@GoldenAxeVox666 That being said though, the Norsemen weren't exactly "saints" either. Many people argue the toss that they were “defending their land” and yes to a certain degree this is true, but they were also common pirates & warriors of their age who pillaged, burned and raped like everyone else. The Vikings were largely romanticized during the 13th and 19-20th centuries & recently this romanticized view of them has taken place again with the surge of neo-paganism and anti-Christian views.
DrgnLord92 1 month ago
@DrgnLord92 I never said they were saints as you put it, but they did have to raid in winter months and in times of crop failure to feed their families, and were also a warrior culture like the Celts, the Celts just being a bit more in harmony with nature and their surroundings, but while vikings did come and raid Scotland(Alba) and Ireland, the two cultures eventually found much common ground as warrior cultures and sort of coagulated into two different, yet similar ethnic groups,
GoldenAxeVox666 1 month ago
@DrgnLord92And yes, the romanticism is also the reason that for some reason people think vikings wore horned helmets, this would have proved deadly in battle as it would not deflect blows, it was I believe an 18t hcentury artist that took a weeBit of artistic freedom in a painting and ever since, vikings had horns in popular culture. While there really is only evidence of Celts doing this, but the helmets found at archaeological site were most likely ceremonial, as the naming of a new chieftain
GoldenAxeVox666 1 month ago
@GoldenAxeVox666 I read something about that too. According to Frank F (2000) "The Invention of the viking horned helmet.", the horned helmet stems from a scenography of an 1876 production of an opera by Richard Wagner, which is in the later period of the(dark - this period of the romanticism is often characterized as being dark) romanticism. I'm, by the way, from the Faroe Islands and listened to this song and saw this interesting chat going on and felt like commenting :)
ommaercool 1 month ago
@ommaercool My sources say an earlier painting by an artist I can't remember, but I'm sure they probably used that image in the props department for the costume........The Faroe islands are such an enigma and link to the Celtic/Scandinavian connection, its essentially in the British isles chain, but of Danish and Norse decent, coincidence
GoldenAxeVox666 1 month ago
@ommaercool though, just as many of the immigrants to Greenland and North America, Celtic blood surely runs through the veins of the Faroese, just as it does the Scotts and Irish, we've been blood brothers post 500 C.E. for 1500 years now.and i find the synergy of the two cultures very apt, as we were the both the biggest and mightiest warrior cultures on earth, and the last to succumb to the Christians, Our cultures share much and influenced one another greatly.
GoldenAxeVox666 1 month ago
@ommaercool Maybe we should use the term Post Antiquity Celts and Scandinavian, as the culture intertwined, it is evident in monoliths and knotwork, prior to Nose influence, Celtic designs were more spiral work, and Norse were a bit more ornate, then Celtic knotwork became very symmetrical and uniform, this is not a coincidence (sorry for so many responses, they leave you only so much space for responses)...

MrAxelTrouble 5 months ago 2
@MrAxelTrouble Fenris asked that any god place his hand within his jaws as trust, Tyr was the only God to step forth and offer his hand as sacrifice to protect others. Hence why the Tyr rune in the Elder Futhark is the rune of protection of others at self sacrifice. The rest was accurate though :)

Can't Odin and YHWH be one in the same?
TiwazTyrsfist 5 months ago
@TiwazTyrsfist They've found evidence that Tyr may have actually been considered the eldest and originally the lead God of the Aesir, however there was a change that eventually brought Odin and Thor to more prominence. It's really interesting. As far as Odin and YHWH being one... YHWH may have been ripped off of Odin, but the same.... not likely. Odin took care of his own dirty work, "God" never has. He always sends in the Angels to keep his hands clean, Micheal would be a better comparison lol

They believe in themselves-
drizzt102 1 month ago
@SnoodDood and they NEVER EVER EVER give up. No matter the odds, when what you believe is morally just, you should never ever surrender. Fight to the end, no matter the odds. Because sometimes the implausible happens.
drizzt102 1 month ago
@drizzt102 Jesus was no mindless warrior whose only purpose was to destroy his enemies. His job was to help them, and by dying he did just that. I'm just noting how capable he was of destroying them. I think it made him more of a man because he had the willpower to resists sending all of his enemies directly to hell and ending his torture. That, sir, is masculinity.
SnoodDood 1 month ago
@SnoodDood I have news. Don't insult the Warrior mentality. You insult a form of intelligence sir, by confusing it with soldier. You don't have to be a soldier to be a warrior. You can be a warrior for a lot of things, of peace, of love. BUT all warriors have two things hin common. They believe in themselves and THEY NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP! Jesus gave up, thereby, making him, at minimum, a fearful and scared little man, who was willing to give up on all he believed in.
drizzt102 1 month ago

@TheBluewingdevil lmfao amazing comment there hit the nail on the head with that one

@TheBluewingdevil you couldnt be more right, however if you do some norse, sumerian, egyptian, greek, mayan mythology research they all have very similar stories, however rather than gods or angels the descriptions sound alien to me, and thor's hammer was more than likely a real weapon made by the gods of olympus (zues, etc) however other legends suggest dwarves made it, which could be a possibility if the hollow earth theory turns out to be true, as that would be where they reside
metalguitarZomg2 4 months ago
@TheBluewingdevil which the gods of olympus (greek mythology gods) weren't actually gods ofcourse, merely highly advanced extra-terrestrial beings known as the Annunaki in ancient sumerian texts dating to 6,000 BC

@TheBluewingdevil technically you just contradicted yourself by saying there is no gods but you also say there is only Norse gods. But I still agree with you that Norse gods own xD
MusicloverCaunty 4 months ago
@MusicloverCaunty I never said i believed in any god, or gods.. I said IF there were any.. haha. I love how everyone jumps to attack my comment. But its all good. haha. Norse gods are so much kooler. BTW..... JESUS sucks balls, he's a weak fuck.... Christians stole their faith from everyone before them... Lame... :P
TheBluewingdevil 4 months ago
@TheBluewingdevil Sorry to break it to ya pal, but the Norse myths aren't original either. They borrowed from everyone else before them too. The only sect that can claim a reliable source to original mythology are the Egyptians. And if you want to get technical with the myths than your wrong about Jesus. Read Revelations, he's depicted in the Apocalypse as a mighty warrior of the light who can obliterate entire armies with a single sweeping arc of his sword. They're facts, unlike your cynicism.
