We played this my 9th grade year in high school. I'm a sophmore in college now so that was ages ago lol I love this piece man. It should be faster in some places and slower in others but overall, it doesn't matter cause I just love it either way lol
yep i agree! it shld b arnd 2x faster for the beginning? or mayb 1.5x .. in any words, faster sounds nicer .. my conductor said "shes a happy widow, goes round the city running around freely ^^" tht might help u get the feeling of the song u r playing i hope.
err, not normally, no. If you suddenly change everything, all the communication is scuppered. You perform in the same set up that you rehearse. You're telling me if the venue suited it you'd have the percussion right in front drowning everything else out and the flutes and oboes at the back behind the brass??
Why aren't the flutes sitting in the same position as the first violins would in an orchestra? That's how they've been positioned in all the wind bands I've played in. Is that the normal 'layout' for bands in Hong Kong? (I'm from England by the way). It's really good though, I've never heard the Merry Widow arranged like that for wind band before, but it works pretty well. How old are the people playing?
