What do you think about keeping wifi turned on even if you are not in an area that has wifi? I have heard conflicting theories on this. One that it will keep searching for an open wifi network and use more battery. And, I have heard that leaving wifi on doesn't have much of an impact on battery life, even if you are using 3g and not in a wifi area...
I keep mine on "Never when plugged in" all the time, but kill data when I am not using it using the advanced power control widget. That way, when the screen turns off, no data is going, and if I am out and about and forget to kill the wifi, the system does it for me, but I never have to worry about data sucking my battery dry.
@carebo8889 it's been that way on every Android, since 1.5. So they shouldn't take it away! lol. Plus i'm getting the Galaxy Nexus imported from another country here very soon!
I'm using Lite'ning Rom v6.1 XXXKH3 and this was selected to never as default which pretty cool that developers are paying attention to that. I didn't even know that advanced menu was there. It wouldn't effect me though because I always have my data network mode turned off unless I'm doing some quick browsing when I'm out, in which case I would have WiFi turned off all together. Thanks for this tip. This will come in handy in the future!
0:56 That's the FIRST thing I do when I install a rom or get a new phone! Because it DOES save battery but other people swear it doesn't. I get NO SIGNAL, and I rely on Groove IP to make/receive calls... so yeah, very good tip! You do videos (like the how to change brightness) that I don't do... because it's little things like this that are common sense to me, that other people **MAY** not know about! Good video!!

@regression If you're not connected to wifi... always turn your wifi radio off. Always.
