  • I will own one of them one day and keep these beautiful cars alive, sucks that I cant aford one now. =/

  • @89Eaglesons Never lose the dream. It took me till I was almost 40 years old to get this one, and 3 years to restore. Time makes it all the sweeter! Thanks for watching.

  • Nice mustang got a 1971 Mach 1 withe 351c and 1972 Mach 1 with a 460 in it

  • Great Video! I'm actually about half way done restoring a 73 Coupe with my father. Interior, engine, and drivetrain all done. Just a matter of the long, grueling body work!

  • @tommay11 Great stuff. Enjoy the journey. Our body work was hampered by the car being rear ended and poorly repaired. I hope yours is OK. We have raced ours a couple of times, and are improving it as I type. I will have the latest resto vid up in a few weeks, and I hope you have time to look again. Post a vid response if you can, I would love to look at your project.

  • Sweet, but be careful fokes! I had one with the 351 big block in 1986 , way way out of balance , veary dangerious on a weat road! Drive mine every day for 21 years now.Luv it . Just respect the power.

  • @YoYoJes Thanks for watching. After we finish this current resto, we shoud have a pile more power too. In a couple of months we should have it on the dyno and will post the new resto vid. Keep an eye out for us.

  • Amazing video, thank you so much.

  • we have one too

  • great video

  • @doublemintchewinggum Many thanks. The new vid shouldbefinished soon. It takes it from here to the next round of resto, and will include the crash. The NEXT vid will be the re-build!

  • I'm having my 73 Mustang slightly restored as well. Not a mechanic myself, so I'm getting some help from some friends. None the less, I loved watching your video. Glad everything came out how you wanted. When mine is all done I'll be posting a video as well. Hope mine turns out as beautiful as yours.

  • @TheBluedevil68 Thanks so much for the compliment, and good luck with your own. I love seeing the 73's being looked after, so make sure you post that vid and let me know.

  • hermosa reconstrucion algun dia are eso con uno mio

  • @andyzoide11 After translating your comments - thank you. I hope one day you can do a restoration like this one, or even better. If you can do it with your Dad, or your son, it will be a great thing.

  • absolutly great job mannnn!!!! congratulationsssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @inictu0culi Thanks man. A lot of blood sweat and tears in there. I checked out your vids - is that a resto you are doing too? Good luck with it.

  • @websimple yes ... is a modified rambler american ... made in argentina ... is an IKA TORINO ... thanks and congratulations again man! ...

  • that is a piece of art!

  • @mn12xr7 Thanks for that. We put a lot of work into it. Without much money, we did most of the work ourselves with the invaluable help of mates/service crew. It is a really personal project.

We just finished the next round of resto, and have the next race coming up in 4 weeks. So it is a year since the final shots in this vid. The car looks even better and goes harder now!

If you have the time or inclination, visit this channel again mid-Feb. I will have more vids posted. Thanks again.

  • @BumbleBeeGS Sunroof - poor mans convertible! It was a bad job too - the locking mechanism ripped chunks out of our heads 'cos it hung so low. I think the sunroof was done at the same time as the conversion, when it arrived in Australia. Poor sunroof, luckily stong conversion. We race again on January 29-30th. Check in again for the new-new-new motor - 3rd rebuild (and no sunroof!). Thanks for watching.

  • incredible nice car

  • @fortex76 Many thanks! Check out the websimple channel for the latest vids. We have just about finished all the carbon fibre work, electronics, roll cage, etc We are off to the dyno tune in 2 weeks. I rekon by the end of this months the finished product will be on YouTube. Cross fingers!

  • This might be seen as a dumb question. How long did it take you to learn how to restore cars? Im thinking about going to automotive school. What exactly do I need to learn in order to do what you guys just accomplished? (Good job btw)

  • @NDUB2007 I wouldn't say that we know how to restore cars - we simpy know this car well. We did a LOT of reading, and had a crack. When we got started, we found that many experts are very hapy to advise, and even get thier hands dirty for free. We paid experts for the jobs that we could not do, and they helped beyond that every time. I would say get started, get to know the guys at your local supplier, and get into the local scene. There will be one there, and full of guys willing to help.

  • @websimple thanx for the advice bro

  • @NDUB2007 By the way, I just uploaded a highlights reel of Targa Tasmania 2010. You might like to check it out. It shows some of the problems we had on the way! We have done heaps more work overthe past 5 months, including new fuel tank/lines, exhaust, carby, manifold, steering, wiring and a heap of carbon fiber work. I will post a vid of the work soon, but I posted the racing yesterday.

  • this is bomb i might get one next year from the junkyard and restore it with my dad so by the time i get 18 it will be in good condition i like this video nice job by the way

  • @chapoisamuthafuka I am quite a bit older, but have great memories of working on cars with my Dad - especially with a divorce. If you can do a project like this, do it with your Dad. I hope to have something similar with my own sons (without the divorce!). If I was going to recommend anything, I would say "don't go nuts on results, enjoy the journey while it lasts". Thanks for watching and taking the time to write. if ever we can be of help, we will be happy to.

  • my dad has that car i told him im going to rebuild it when i get done with my 1968 ford fairlane :) im 17 and got high dreams lol

  • @cheetoo69 Hey, you have to have dreams or nothing becomes reality! Hopefully you get as much out of the resto as we have. Maybe make Targa Tasmania a dream too - it is an amazing race, in an amazing State, with amazing people!

  • How much did it cost you to restore your Mustang like that? :)

  • @jimbaba16 We did a lot of the work ourselves (the dirty work), and we were race prepping it. So it was a mix of doing extras like extra quality suspension & roll cage, but less like not needing carpet or a proper interior. I reckon maybe $20K but that is not a good guide. We have spent more since the race with a new motor, etc and the car is nearing completion now. I will have a new video up in the next couple of weeks.

  • @websimple Ty for the reply :D, i see, haha i am wanting to buy a Mustang Mach 1 or a Coupe, but as am living in the UK its near-impossible to find a good deal for the Mustang, and not to mentioned the insurance on these cars are EXPENSIVE especially for my age :P

  • @jimbaba16 Good luck finding one at a reasonable cost. Ours was pretty cheap, but in bad nick. We got past expensive insurance by not having any! If we crash it, we pay. We can't get insurance for the races anyway, and we figure that if we crash it, we have our next resto project sorted! :-)

  • @websimple Thank you :) haha! thats the way to do it ;), i wish i didnt have to get Insurance but here in the UK it is ILLEGAl to drive without insurance :S.

Insurance is around 4.6K a year, and for a Student like me it is impossible.

  • You would be a great addition to our site since your a hands on guy. I'm 1972 Mach 1 on the website.

  • Awesome video love your dedication! I added this video to our website do a Google search for Mach1Club, you'll find us! Could you come to my house and help me do my 72 Mach 1 :) Love the right hand drive, that conversion must have been a pain in the butt!

  • @Mach1club Hi and thanks. I will check out the Mach 1 club for sure. I may have recently joined! I worked until 2am this morning fixing the steering, and would not wish it on anyone! Then try and get extractors to fit ... F%$&K! We are about to re-do the dash in carbon fiber, and that will be in the next restoration/history video. Stay tuned! Email me if you want any tips, but I may not be very useful.

  • muchas felicidades muy bonito carro y muy buen trabajo¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • @rtitanium Ahh, many thanks. After a translation, I appreciate your compliments! We have some work to go, but we did well in the last race (we won our class), and we are doing a lot of carbon fibre work to make the interior look sweet - a mix of old and new.

  • Where do you live where the old mustangs are right hand drive?

  • Hiya, we are in Australia, and this Mustang has been converted to right-hand drive. I don't believe any early model Mustangs were produced as right-hand drive at all.

  • Great mini docco and beautiful car (love the colour)! Just bought a '72 LHD Sportsroof import 5 months ago here in Victoria (Olympic Sprint model, now painted yellow and black). 20 years ago I had a '70 Mach 1; back then I used to look at the 71-73's with disdain - funny how things change though because now I think these are the nicest looking Mustangs of them all! (and the least common, which makes them stand out even more). Good luck at Targa Tassie - take care negotiating Eric Bana corner!

  • Thanks for your comments. Great to hear another Mustang is loved and living! This color is Light Pewter, a '73 color option. We will definately be watching around Bana's corner. We wont be doing 150kph over a crest into a right hand hairpin! Touch wood. Post photos of your own Mustang if you can.

  • Thanks! I am in the process of doing the same for the new engine and getting ready for Targa Tasmania - a 6 day tarmac rally starting on the 27th April 2010.

  • So, what race did you enter in this video? I thought this was the tarmac rally but anyhow, good luck on the 27th. My stang is back up on jacks and I turn to this video to give me insperation to get it done :0) You rock man, thanks!

    DJ

  • @FASTnNEFARIOUS Sorry I didn't reply very quick! This race was Targa Wrest Point. We have since raced in Targa Tasmania, and won our class. We had a heap of problems, but made it through. We are preparing the car now for the next Targa Wrest Point in January - steeering, brakes, decent extractors, improved carby and a weight-loss program (using carbon fiber which will be fun).

  • Perfect start to finish video! My favorite to date. Mahalo Nui Loa!
