I just wanted the chance to prove I could do better (with or without the long note).

Without sounding bigheaded, I did a gig last weekend and sang 50+ songs without a break. 3 1/2 hours worth.

I didn't go on and blubber on about some sob story. As I've lived a bit, I could have told a number of them, but I didn't. These days I get on with life.

Thanks for all the positive comments. I need them, as your confidence takes a battering after something like X Factor.

The judges asked me lots of questions which I answered. However, the answers or facial reactions you saw on TV were not always the ones I gave to those particular questions. It's edited for entertainment value. As with a lot of media, things are not always as they seem. Make your own mind up. However, the long note was genuinely unedited.

It may have seemed like I was being arrogant or cocky, but I wasn't trying to be. The judges were nice enough, but didn't put me through. I was gutted.

However, I still had to wait 4 weeks before getting a "Yes" to sing in front of Simon and Co. I then did 2 auditions in front of the judges, but had to wait 8 1/2 hours before I sang for the first time. Food was available but I couldn't eat as I was so nervous, and terrified I would get some food stuck in my throat at the wrong moment. I didn't know when I would be called to sing, and one or two people went for walks at the risk of losing the opportunity to audition.

It was during the course of these links that they discovered that I could do a long note. I wasn't told to, but from that moment I was encouraged to do the long note, as the producers felt that the judges would be impressed by it.

The 3rd audition was in front of Sony Records' bosses. Their comment was "Wow!!!"

OK. Here's my story. 182000 people auditioned for 2008 X Factor. I did 3 auditions over 2 days before I was shortlisted to sing in front of the judges, who actually only see about 500 or 600 auditionees. During those first auditions, I was interviewed around 5 times, mostly in front of cameras, and they (TV producers) asked me to do links (eg "Welcome back to the X Factor!!!" followed by singing my song) at the same time.
