  • I was entranced by this song when I was a teenager in the mid-80s. I never liked the music in the charts, and I read about this album somewhere and bought it and fell in and never quite came out.

  • Would kill for some '77 CBGBs footage.

  • Unfortunately, the other guitarist's guitar is a bit out of tune; its' distracting.

  • @buntingfordboy they wrote it like that.....only a northern song

  • @buntingfordboy Whatcha mean, 'the other guitarist'? It's Richard fucking Lloyd. He's an original member of this band.

  • Television in Dublin.I still can't believe I was there..thanks so much to Steiner,I found this recently after so many years of thinking there were no clips of it:)

  • verlaine looks like he forgot his parts everyone else killed it

  • Heard this song when I was seventeen and for the last 32 years couldn't remember the name of the band...Until today YEAH I'm in heaven the memories flood back.....Cheers Television.

  • I was at this gig!

    Sound quality is class!

    Cheers for posting

  • gosh!

i've never seen them playing live.

    thank you for sharing.

  • billy ficca rules

  • Just found this!! Randomly!

    My favourite Television track!

    Thank you!

  • heya #VIDEOPOSTERID#, outstanding video clip! It is too bad that youtube will never allow complete tv episodes and movies otherwise youtube would possibly be perfect. That's why I RANDSET(use|started using|depend on|go with|go to|head over to)# stream episodes (dot) net instead to be able to enjoy all the episodes and movies that youtube doesn't have

Television - Marquee Moon (Part 1)

  • yes! steiner...

  • RICHARD LLOYD IS A GOD!!!!!

  • They say too much television is no good for your health ...but I strongly disagree! ;)

  • We are big fans of Television and the new wave scene. If you could have a listen to our stuff (click our name and it will take you to our videos) and let us know what you think it would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Is Verlaine using a thumb pick or something?

  • Richard Lloyd played on a lot of Matthew Sweet records and it sounds fantastic. It really gave me a lot of enjoyment hearing him play on those songs during the 90's

  • I loved hearing this on XM 44 Fred on their countdown shows.

  • after seeing television i could play d chord, patti smith as well horses

  • Marquee Moon is without question one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

  • Someone should sign these guys. They're pretty good. :-)

  • tom's solos always sneak up on me, the way they build slowly and steadily. extraordinary player.

  • definitely worth the wait!!! :))))

amazing, loved every second of it :)

  • Kudos to you for getting a full Marquee Moon... I would have in NYC if security weren't such asses

  • I got lucky...glad you like it too. :)

  • Ficca is an excellent drumeer. He really moves this great song.

  • that's what I've been saying all along... the guitar parts are not the only exciting parts of this song... everything works perfectly with each other

  • awesome. can i say any more?

  • I saw Lloyd play for about 50 people at Schubas in Chicago a year or so ago--the guy still has amazing chops, thought some of his songs are a little eh. He came around to the bar patrons beforehand and introduced himself--"Hi, I'm Richard Lloyd and I'm playing here tonight." And did he play!

  • I had no idea these guys were still together until I found this & then wiki'd it. Sadly Richard Lloyd left the band, but I would still love to see them live. This is 10 times better than most the shit out there now. Great post.

  • Glad you liked it too my friend... :)

When I find the time, I'll upload the rest of the set too from that unforgettable nite in 2002...

  • thanks, must have been amazing and thanks for providing the set list. oh well, my first record too and still to see them.

  • what a fuckin band..television and talking heads were the best bands to come out of ny in the 70s

  • ......of late 70´s.

  • For technical creativity? Yes, I think so.

For passionate rock b roll, Johnny Thunders.

So did Patti Smith copy him and Richard Hell or vice versa..so incestuous!!!

Fav band from nyc 70's The Dictators? Fun, jammy..

    Ramoes rule

    The Clash..oh..never mind.

    Suicide...very influential!!!

Cutest?...okay, I'm going now..bye..love live rock play protest resist

  • Pure class bands mate but you forgot the Buzzcocks!

    Suicide, what a band!

    Cheers

  • still looking for TORN CURTAIN ..... and fuck that shitty cover band that's on youtube. if that's torn curtain, im gonna kill myself

  • only 10,787 view ?!?! some goddamn life sucker singers' videos are even being watched by miillions!! f..k the world ,nobody knows where good music lies !!!!

  • @dizzytrippin1 good music..great music is usually only appreciated by the few..not the many

  • The finest guitar duo to ever come out of the New York music scene. On their good nights there was no better band in America. thanks..

  • "Marquee Moon is one of those albums that I can probably play 10 years from now and still think "Oh my God, this is amazing.""

You're right. I still think that 30 years after I first bought the album.

My basement and CD racks are filled with albums I thought were great when then were released 10, 20 and 30 years ago. Marquee Moon is one of the few I still listen to. Adventure is also good. Very underrated.

  • Fantastrision

  • Fuckin' awesome!!!

  • Agreed!

    :)

  • One of the greatest bands I've ever heard. Seriously. It's a shame I just "discovered" them recently. Marquee Moon is one of those albums that I can probably play 10 years from now and still think "Oh my God, this is amazing." Fucking fantastic band.

  • Amen to that!

    :)

  • iiiiiiiiiiiiiiijjjjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!.... Gracias!

  • Denada!

  • AWESOME !!!!!!Thanks a lot!IM GLAD YOU ENJOYED THE GIG!!!!!

  • Indeed! :)

  • Fantastic.

  • is it just two original members?

  • No, no, all four still present & correct...

    Tom Verlaine/Richard Lloyd/Billy Ficca/Fred Smith

  • seems like they warmed up and got into a groove midway thru this song. it started off kinda iffy but they did bring it up with love.

from great band. and everyone that is into em likes em cause when your listening to em you feel like your the ONLY one that really gets them ( of course your not ) just one of amazing bands that time will slowly but surely forget.

  • I don't think time will forget. I bet that Marquee Moon sells better today than it did when it was released. Every CD store has it. How many other 70's bands do you still see their music sold in stores besides the big ones like Pink Floyd, Stones and Led Zep. They are in select group of artists whose stature has increased over time. Coltrane, J Cash,Billie Holiday, Ramones to name a few.

  • Poor old Fred Smith didnt get much of a look-in!

  • I know, but then he never did did he (apart from the sublime bass sounds of course!). I DID pan to him once or twice during the evening though... :)

  • My guitar was named after that song^^ Marquee "Strat" Moon...^^

  • Nice one, thanks mate :)
