  • Dude!!!! thats awesome!!! i didnt know they sounded so nice! good job man

  • FLAAAT

  • your tutorial link is dead. Can you provide another one?

    Bravo!

  • note to self: dont cut the propane tank with oxy before its empty...

  • Hang drum>your "hang drum"

  • Tutorial link isn't working :/ update it?

  • went to the tutorial. 404 not found?..... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You still suck balls at the hang drum.

  • thats wise..... slap the gas bottle :L

  • dead link

  • lame! this is a happi drum ay best...

  • That isn't a hang (and a hang is not a drum). You can't make a homemade one because only two people in the world make them and they wouldn't just post it online somewhere how to do it. What you have there is a imitation called a tank or hank drum which isn't better than a hang.

  • Ok, the drum is shining pretty much, you can stop polishing it.

  • dude if you would make another i would buy it...

  • I cannot for the life of me find any never-filled propane tanks. Is there a way to buy them online or anything?

  • @captainwiggles777 You can get them at home depot or menards or (insert home improvement store here) They usually run about $30 or so

  • Good Ass Job !! very creative

  • Comment removed

  • Creativo¡¡¡¡ Bien.

  • "thats real neat but needs improving"

  • It's more like a hapi drum than a hang drum

  • What if you cut it in half? Do you really need the enclosed chamber?

  • @generatrix999

It might not resonate as well if you cut off too much of it off

  • @Aidref

Though it is debatable, it sounds now like its resonating too much

  • hank drum!

  • you need 4 grands to buy a real panart man

  • good job bro, could you actually send back the tutorials' link ? this one seems wrong, cant get anything from it. cheers !

  • this is a hank not hang

  • i just dont wanna fuck my tank if its going to sounds like that

  • unbelievable what people can make out of a propane tank

    well done

  • doesnt even sound like a hang drum

  • 'ttention ça va exploser !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Groudzy Mouahaha XD moi je ne m'y risquerai pas XD

  • but still, even though its a propane gass, the hang drum costs like 2 thousand atleast, and this is free haha!! yeah ima try it

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhh bless him

  • doesnt sound as good as the real hang drum... this sounds really empty and no nice tone.

  • it's a fucking propane gas cylinder....

    shzzz lol

  • Great job but are you just using the propane tank by itself or did you modify it to create a better sound?

  • groso ! muy bueno!!

  • your an idiot

  • Taste the meat, not the heat. Meat! Heat! Meat! Heat! Nice work. Bravo!

  • cool! nice work ... how bout a vid on how you made it

  • lmao!

  • these are usually called a Hank drum. Combo of Hang and (propane) Tank = Hank.

  • Hank Hill, he sells propane.

  • and propane accessories

  • @purpleeggguy & propane accessories.

  • @purpleeggguy LOL

  • @purpleeggguy AND propane accessories.

  • lmao

  • still great work there

  • This is GREAT! What is so cool about home-made musical instruments is that they DON'T sound like anyone else's - they are UNIQUE, and this is part of their appeal. PopMania, you've done a great job here!

  • sztem elég király...

  • shame it souds nothing like a hang drum

  • hmm... i do wonder where you can get a hang drum for 30 bucks or less...

  • you can't, they cost hundreds of dollars and you have to travel to Switzerland where they hand make them

no.. really, the guys who made it are douchebags

  • I know, right?! they just stop making them. i was being MUY sarcastic. but the hank drum puts hang-like availability into the hands of an average joe who DOESN'T live in switzerland and have a thousand or so bucks

  • ya they constantly halt production and i think now you have to make meatings to get in and since its so high in demand it kinda sux....

i dont see why they are like that its an amazing instrument they could get rich off of it

  • ur not hitting it right

  • THATS COOOL made aout of gas tank.... WOW I have to do one to...

  • nice job!!!

  • Congratulations. Great result.

  • But your sound is so ugly :s

  • yes you should learn to play better...

  • Must be hard on the fingers! Take a look at my instruments (mostly played with mallets though). Also tongue drums of a sort

  • :O AMAZING!

  • Good stuff dude! Keep up the innovation!

  • right on guy! i like the sound of this a lot better. good on you! 5 stars! ~ Vi An.

  • Ahahah! dude i bet his hand hurt after playing that xD

  • dude! why are playing with gas?

  • Wow, that's so cool! It sounds amazing too.

    Nice job!

  • hey! you keep it real. he's on to something here, chill, no one has to "buy" a "real" anything -- ever heard of making music and rhythm from found objects? think STOMP the musical group. they create everything from found objects.

  • STOMP were the best

  • very cool, better than waiting to get one and paying the money very cool. how did ya do it

  • Nice video dood! I love using industrial related things as percussion. Five stars dood!

  • this is kinda sad its more like a HANK DRUM STUPID!!!

  • geniale

  • Sounds horrible. You might as well be banging a tree limb on a steel girder.

  • must have bin hard to tune.

  • It's more like Hapi drum.

  • Nice and easy really good...thank you .

  • i've never seen a robot play a hang drum. or...well, now i have xD

  • does anyone know why people put bungee cords around it?

  • The bungee cord dampens the sound, makes it a bit more mellow.

  • the bungee cords are actually used to tune it...kinda like tuning a guitar by tightening the strings. look at the original inventor of this propane hang drum. dennis havlena.

  • sounds horrible

  • virgin

  • lol dude

  • nice i think i will try to make one thanks!! how did you fugure out ware to cut and drill?

  • whats wrong with thats:) cheap and Very good solution!

  • I must be pretty stoned, because this actually sound good.

  • haahaahhah this is crazy gas man

  • all i can say is ... hope its empty lol

  • it's almost like a steel drum! awesome!

  • very good idea!!

  • very good for homemade.... thanks for sharing!

  • For the cost it sounds great. Fly to Europe and go shell out 3,000 for the "real thing" then! God damn we got some real geniuses out there. Everyone knows it's not as good, jackass!

  • its not like 3 grand is that much for a musical instrument...

  • It is for a drum. Pianofortes and violins cost a lot of money because they aren't just some dents in a bowl. Obviously I'm over-simplifying, but musical instruments are priced in relation to the expense/expertise necessary to manufacture them. The hang drum isn't that intricate and should cost less than a grand, I would say.

  • Buddy a REAL Hang Drum is only made in Switzerland by 2 guys...also its not just dents in a metal and tuned on D-minor..but your violins/pianofortes made by 1000 ppl all around the world...so before making your statement do some little research.

  • Yes, yes, I know. I still think the price is a high, yet I realise that it is a new instrument and if/when there is a solid production line, hopefully the exorbitant price will drop.

I was merely taking umbrage at the remark regarding 3k not being that much... To me, it's like losing a limb: Sure it's better than dying, but wouldn't you rather just lose a finger or nothing at all?

I've rarely seen a musician worth the price of his instrument, so maybe some $20 hank drums are just what we need.

  • No, I don't believe there will ever be a production line making these. I forget where I read it, but I think the makers of the hang drums want to keep the business small, in order to keep the instrument from being mass produced; to keep it special or something.

  • i dont see why you have 2 thumbs down and this guy has like 5 ups

  • Yeah, why can't I just buy a japanese ripp-off somewhere :)

  • LOL

  • someone has been smoking their mother's marijuana

  • lol Not the real thing, but still pretty cool

  • AND pressure!!! ;)

  • sick!!!

  • lol

    Not bad! could be better

  • isnt it a lil dangerous? but fantastic still!

  • lol tissues near toe computer in the back you know what that means????

  • he has a cold?

  • what?! lol

  • lol that explains why his movements are so quick, stressed and sharp

  • waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy out of tune

  • much, much better then i expected ,.

    awesome in fact,.

but sadly i have just herd the news that hang drums are not easly attained./ but i will be looking at way's too hopefully make one..

    thank's..

  • That link does not work! :'( Can you post another link that does?

  • yes it does

  • how do you make this? do you just need a propane tanke?

  • this is really god sound for homemade and your not bad at it, love it

  • nice try :)

  • Wow, thanks for posting this!

  • It's like the music of waterworld you know that film???

  • by "hank" you do mean hang dont chu?

  • Hmm, maybe "Hank Drum" is a little more appropriate... A combo of Hang and Tank... And astoundingly redneck-ish. "Hank Drum" it is!

  • vaayyyy

  • Well, of course it's not going to sound just like one of the Swiss hangs. For being DIY, it's not a bad sound at all. :D

  • Thanks for the instructions of the propane hang drum

  • How do you do to cut in the epecific tune?

  • sounds like from a horror movie :) lol

  • ahah, it really does

  • That sounds nothing like the hang. I could beat some pots and pans together and say its a hang drum? Awesome!

  • COOLIO though I still do not understand how you do not understand pennyarcade. :|

  • Interesting piece of DIY! The sound isn't exactly the same, but I like it just as much. Tried making more in different scales?

  • No, I have been content with this one. I really like the D minor pentatonic scale. It could be done though. Try it and post a response.

  • Hope you don't smoke while playing that ehehe....

  • hehehehe!!

  • True enough, I suppose. I concede the point to you, then, Sethsburg. It is still really cool. I just dislike having my opinion called into question by one-lining jerks.

Never fails to amaze me how much argument goes on in pages relating to hanghang...Apologies for being a source of it this time.

  • Sorry about that, I get a little crazy sometimes. Requesting aceptance of apology

  • No worries. I'm guilty of that too, sometimes. Apology accepted. :)

  • Thank you.

  • Very very very cool dude !I think i will build one too !

  • Apologies, but I'm not sure this could be termed a true hang. It works on the same principles, yes, but it's just a completely different sound, a lot more resonance, a lot less impact, more metallic. It's not a bad sound, just different. I'd certainly never had figured out how to play a propane tank. :)

  • He never said it was a "true" hang, dumb sh*t.

  • Calm down. It's my own opinion, to which I am entitled. I never said I didn't like it, only that I think it belongs in a different category than, say, a panART hang. To do so would be like saying a cello is the same as a violin, as they're both string instruments that can be played with a bow. I would appreciate it if you would think before you go around insulting people wholesale.

  • Home made... not going to be the real thing homie! Its the concept of the thing that relates it to the hang.

  • I don't know if I should Laugh or Cry...or shit my pants...hehehehe

  • U SUCK

  • pretty smart

  • I think I prefer the propane tank's tone to teh Swiss Hang Drums. Thanks.

  • how does it work, i want to make one!

  • follow the tutorial link in the description

  • first time playing lol thanks

  • Nicely done man! Great job! Dennis would be proud to see his plans come together like this I bet!

  • practice practice practice....hehehe

    :)

  • Lovely way to make music. Music is to our souls as water is to a parched tongue!

  • you need practice
