u can make your Boot Up thing very fast(talking about windows) just go to "Start" search for "MsConfig" and choose what u want to start up but Carefull u may do smth that u dont wanna do :)

The PCs at my school start up in 8 seconds. I am in no way claiming that PC is better than Mac, because I like Macs more too (even though I have a PC). I'm just saying that there are some PCs that can boot faster than Macs.

the ibook g4 only 1.42ghz 1.5gb ram boots faster than my inspiron 1525 1.67ghz, and 2gb ram was slower. Only reason; mac os x boots faster, not the computer itself.

how many apps are opening on the pc? make sure you don't have any running apps like messenger, skype, docks, and what AV are both running? Most times people don't install AV thinking Macs don't get infected, is the AV on pc running? make sure you give it a fair shake. Is RAM the same on both?

We choose to spend less on HP because we can get something with the same specs for a much less price and still have enough money to go get other things in life. You're not paying for the specs, you are paying for the company name. Why spend $2000 on a mac when you can get something just as nice for $1500? I can go on a trip for $500

You are aware that the boot up speed is normally really only affected by your hard drive, and possibly your OS.

It wasn't fast by much. I'm willing to bet the HP had some sort of 3rd party anti-virus eating resources on start up as well as a bit of bloatware that most users are too dumb to remove. Get Microsoft's Security Essentials and ditch the ad-ware, and the startup will probably be the same. Also, just what KIND of i5 chips are in each computer? How much ram? How fast is the HD spinning? You left out alot of facts in this "test" to call any winner

Why are Apple users inherent retards? Like many have mentioned, wtf does bootup time do for you? So the Mac is like 5sec faster, but in whatever app you use - 3D gaming, rendering, cals intensive stuff - it's always dependent on cpu+gpu+mem in the main. Macs doesn't use proprietary hardware, meaning hardware wise laptops can be built identical to Macs but with lot less $. Plus bootup depends mostly on OS and OS settings, install win7 in ya Mac and then we can compare.

That PC is higher performing, start up speed has to do with the OS, not the power. Even though they both have Core i5s, the HP has a heatsink and vent; therefor it will have better performance because it can keep the CPU cool. Macs have overheating issues.
