Well don't we know why you don't like Scott Brown.. LOL I'd bet it is only political commentary, but on a personal level.... Hmm! Tell me, did you hide the Cosmo mag. from mommy?
I contacted Scott Brown's Office yesterday about the vote on extending unemployment benefits. I'm unemployed; the job market is terrible. I see that Mr. Brown voted against the extension today. May I join you in saying F%^k you, Scott Brown!
Yeah and reading from a teleprompter makes our president an idiot right? Isn't that's what Repubs are all up in arms about?
WE WANT THE OLD BUSH BACK WHO DOESN'T READ FROM A TELEPROMPTER BUT SCREWS UP EVERY OTHER SPEECH HE MAKES NOT MENTIONING THE MISUSED OF WORDS AND ELEMENTARY SENTENCE STRUCTER!
Yeah you guys rather hear a dofus talk in over himself then a president who do care to get a message across, regardless if he does use a teleprompter or not. Repubs are funny.
Nick, I love your political commentaries. It's nice to see younger people taking an interest in government...*sigh* now if we could kick some older peoples asses as well, we may wake some of these 'idiots' up! Be well!

Thank you for informing me! :) This really helped! I heard about this a little but now I actually know what's going on! And I didn't know about all the other stuff, so thanks Nick! :)
I live in MA. I'm old enough to vote, but I'm appalled the Scott Brown won. I mean, here people actually say "You have to vote in the primaries, because the republican candidate won't win."
You know what? Fuck you, to all you people who didn't vote. Fuck. You.
By the way if you're bored it'd be really cool if you would come check out my videos. My name is Liam, i'm 17, and live in Texas. I think you'll find my videos at least adequately entertaining and you may even be tempted to survive.
Honestly, I'm not sure who I despise more: the Democrat who was too cocky and lazy to pursue the senate seat, or the hypocritical Republican who could potentially kill the health care bill. In a sense, if the health care bill fails, both are to blame. Oh well.
That's for a FORMAL rule change because... the Senate voted as a majority to make a rule that you need 67 votes to amend the rules!
HOWEVER, the Republicans credibly threatened to end the filibuster in 2005. How? Because the SCOTUS ruled, credibly based on the Constitution in U.S. v. Ballin, that each house sets its own rules by a majority. Therefore the majority party CAN change the rules with 51 votes. However the Democrats DONT because they are concerned about their future minority status.
it takes 60 votes(for the dems) to kill a filibuster. Brown's election gives the dem's only 59 allowing the elephants enough(41) votes to filibuster. (can you imagine the torture of Libermen whining for hours on end?) A filibuster or 41 votes doesn't kill a bill. The current 2700 page bill being negotiated between the House and Senate will never pass both houses. But, not to worry, health insurance reform is a long way from being dead. ;-)
You seemed to have grasped things rather well. Massachusetts also has similar mandatory health insurance already, which I think added another dimension to the debacle. A week before the election there was no hint that Brown could win. The Democrats were lulled into complacency, and I think they just didn't show up for the election. I went to vote and there was nobody holding signs, I had trouble finding the correct building, and I saw 2 or 3 other people voting while I was there.
its so funny cuz they are so stupid and ignorant ugh lol, right now australia (where i live) is currently going crazy of becoming a republic, due to the fact we have prince william visiting , its so funny because the republicans aruguments are so pathetic and in general have nothing to do with polotics, i mean we basically are our own conrty just as a constitutional monarchy, and watching this makes me hope to god we dont become a republic lol
The Democrats need to get tough. No bill submitted by a Republican gets passed (and I mean none!) until the Republicans agree to start compromising for the good of the nation and not obsructing in the interest of political expediency - i.e., figuring out how to help the 30 million. uninsured in a real way. Give them a taste of their own medicine (pun intended).
a normal Senate term is 6 years, but yes he only gets to fill up kennedy's term then is up for re-election again, however Kennedy's term ends in november of 2012 :(
First, why do you care about the watered down health bill? It just adds a new mandate but doesn't make insurance more affordable or control costs. Single-payer was bargained off to the blue dogs months ago.
Second, why do you accept the legitimacy of the filibuster? Don't you know that 51 senators can vote for a rule change to destroy the filibuster? The Republicans almost did it when THEY were the party in power. But then the Democrats said ok, we won't use it that much anymore!
i was actually sorta happy he won...i personaly consider myself to agree more with the Democratic party but i just liked him more i guess u could say just because i'm against Obama's heal care reform bill.
It's not just that no one liked the Democratic candidate. Many people are unsatisfied with Obama, so these state elections are basically a referendum on national politics. This is also why the recent gubernatorial elections went to Republicans as well.
I would argue, and I would be supported by most political observers, that Scott Brown's win is credited to Martha Coakley's horrible campaign not Obama, him and his policies are largely popular in Massachusetts. It was completely Coakley's fault for being a non-candidate
Hey hey hey, i am a republican meanie :) Not so proud of what some do, but a republican none the less. "fiscally republican, socially, sexually liberal" I do love that shirt! and btw 3:59 - the end had me laughing "rude"

On the other hand I'm disappointed in Massachusetts Democrats for nominating her and expecting her to win easily.

lol it's insulting to Red Sox fans to claim you are one of them, but not know who one of the main players responsible for breaking the freaking curse of the Bambino is and to claim said player is a Yankees fan. Worst candidate the Democrats ran expecting to win since...well Kerry :(
