  • i wanted to go to Gally before, but i have taken the SAT and am scared to take the ACT. i don't want a lower score. :( maybe i'll try some other time.

  • ARE U DEAF OR HEARING??

  • NTID is the most baloney deaf college. Bunch of professors cannot sign ASL skillfully! It is a gimmick college with so called "Technology" which is old technology! 50% of all NTID students quit! I repeat 50%!!

  • Ontario's educational requirements - All schools require to complete a high school diploma. All students require to complete Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12. Grade 12 students must complete English only. However, they have to follow universities or colleges' educational requirements such as I want to study Biology at the university. I have to check this university's admission requirement (English, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Biology, and Chemistry). I take them in Grade 12 that's all.

  • Honestly, I think that if you can't pass the basic requirements of the NYS Regents program, you probably won't be able to pass any of your college classes. NTID/RIT is not an easy school. 15 weeks worth of material is scrunched down into 10 weeks and many of the classes are higher level. If you can't cut it in high school, chances are you won't cut it at RIT/NTID. There's not harm in having high standards.

  • My point is that NTID does not offer a bachelor's degree program yet it requires a high school diploma while Gallaudet that offers a bachelor's degree program does not. Now to recent changes, Gallaudet requires high school diploma. I am all for high standards mind you. I went to both colleges and I know what it is like :-) Also my other point is that not all states have the same standards to get high school diploma. It may be easier for one to get a diploma from southern states for example.

  • I understand :) I think all states should have systems like NYS. Or at least as strict.

And NTID does actually now offer a bachelor's degree, but it is in my major (interpreting).

  • @avbria THey do require a high school diploma now at Gallaudet, much to my boyfriends chagrine...it's unfortunate because many deaf schools do not offer high school diplomas but expect a person to make to college, somehow. He is now getting his GED...what a waste of time...

  • I dont know that Gally and NTID are different, my friends went to Gally and NTID. They didnt even tell me about that.

  • well.. good question.. I graduated NTID of '87. Between Gallaudet and NTID are not same enrollment of the varies courses. Gallaudent mostly use Liberal Art for writing and reading. NTID mostly use the hands for any printing, Applied art, science, and etc more.. IF NTID have more advance knowledge can transfer to RIT for Liberal Art. But i was not sure. My opinion

  • Same thing with Massachusetts. They require to pass all 4 (english, math, science and history) to get HS diploma. Its called Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS). It require open response (essay) in all 4 subjects including math.

i am pretty sure one day every state will require that becuase of NCLB law.

i heard that MCAS is hard as NY Regents.

  • That's interesting issue. I never knew that. Hmmm... I wonder how many NYers attend to NTID compare with non-NYers to NTID? Yes, it is true it is unfair for NYers not being able to meet their HS requirement for graduation while other states with lower requirement are easy to access NTID. I always thought Gally and NTID both have same requirements.

  • I have seen MCA testings at school. They are English Reading and Writing, and Math. So, I think Minnesota requires only two subjects to pass for high school diploma.

  • You said, "S-word," I am shocking. Anyways, wow,

I have graduated from High school, so I don't need

to college, but I had go to post-HS school to

getting a education more than ever before,

    though. I have been graduated from H.S. & post-H.S.

school. I like to learning about bank, apartment

training, cooking safety, and um other thing else that I has been learned from them.
